Abstract

An ensemble method is an approach where several classifiers are created from the training data which can be often more accurate than any of the single classifiers, especially if the base classifiers are accurate and different one each other. Menawhile, feature clustering can reduce feature space by joining similar words into one cluster. The objective of this research is to develop a text categorization system that employs feature clustering based on ensemble feature selection. The research methodology consists of text documents preprocessing, feature subspaces generation using the genetic algorithm-based iterative refinement, implementation of base classifiers by applying feature clustering, and classification result integration of each base classifier using both the static selection and majority voting methods. Experimental results show that the computational time consumed in classifying the dataset into 2 and 3 categories using the feature clustering method is 1.18 and 27.04 seconds faster in compared to those that do not employ the feature selection method, respectively. Also, using static selection method, the ensemble feature selection method with genetic algorithm-based iterative refinement produces 10% and 10.66% better accuracy in compared to those produced by the single classifier in classifying the dataset into 2 and 3 categories, respectively. Whilst, using the majority voting method for the same experiment, the similar ensemble method produces 10% and 12% better accuracy than those produced by the single classifier, respectively.

Abstract

Many ways are taken to be superior in the existing competition, such as differentiation products, identifing new marketing strategies, and improving the performance of operational activities in order to obtain positive responses from the customer. The role of the customer in the implementation of a trading company holds an important position because of all the activities carried out focus on how companies can build satisfaction for the customer, so that in the future they will be back to the company'. This research discusses the design of an information systems to support the implementation of the company's daily operation which consists of selling activities, purchasing, and stock. The method used consists of analysis and design. Analysis begins from the identification of operational processes and data used in daily trading company in general, equipped with some concepts from supporting research literature to develop a model that can be applied. Meanhile the design method through the object oriented approach are illustrated using diagrams Unified Modelling Language (UML). A conceptual model of information system that can be implemented in support of the company's trading operations, which can provide competitive advantage for the company to face competition in the industry.

Abstract

Use of the Internet at schools grows advanced. Therefore, teachers need to learn the use of technology in creating good teaching materials (learning objects) such as animation-based materials. Those materials will result will in a component in a learning system that allows students to interactively learn and evaluate themselves against the subject mastery. A tool for creating such an animated material like Powerpoint produces presentations enhanced with audio and video that allows students to comprehend the lessons more easily. The model system uses interactive multimedia system design and development with the following phases: (1) system requirements, (2) design considerations, (3) implementation, (4) evaluation. While user interface design principles uses eight golden rules of interface design. As a test case, selected Biology at Yaspia junior high school and Bina Management vocational school. From the results it can be concluded that this application module can support students in obtaining the required data completeness. The tutorials are quite sufficient to facilitate students in understanding the material.

Abstract

Lean production has dramatically lifted the competitiveness of many manufacturing companies and the value they deliver to customers. This project examines the benefit of balancing process and workstation arrangement of dogbone damper in an order that maintains a smooth flow of materials and component through the process. The analysis begins from calculating takt value to establish the required rate of production. From here, any total cycle time exceeding takt time is called a bottleneck process and should become a target of the improvement. Next, arranging people and equipment into cells has great advantage in terms of achieving lean goals. One advantage of cells is the one-piece flow concept, which states that each product moves through the process one unit a time without sudden interruption, at a pace determined by the customer’s need.

Abstract

Investments in system and information technology applied in a company sometimes do not provide benefits comparing to the cost. Therefore, we propose to PT. Frina Lestari Nusantara to measure the economic benefits gained from the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Microsoft Navision) using Information Economics method, so that later on the benefits obtained from the feasibility assessment on the applied Navision can be provided. The methodology used is field research and literature study. The Field research is in form of observations of product selling process, analysis of the data obtained, direct interviews and questionnaire distribution to the relevant sections. The literature study is used to find, collect and study the needed data and information using references from various media and sources. From the results it is concluded that the implementation of Navision application executed so far is pretty decent to be implemented and helps improve the company’s performance.

Abstract

Gaining extra comfort in a trip is an important factor. Staying in a hotel needs food, laundry, and other activities that can make guests comfortable. The guesses’ requests are usually ordered to the Room Service. Sometimes problems occur in serving the guests’ requests due to human error, such as overdue orders, misunderstandings, etc. Computers are used to prevent those problems by typing requests directly from a computer in the room. The method is done by collecting data from the direct interview at a hotel related to guests’ requests, analyzing the current system, doing literature study, creating a Room Service system draft, as well as implementing the new system in a form of prototype. A Room Service system prototype is created with the abilities to order food, drinks, laundry and ironing. This prototype designed meets the guests’ satisfaction towards the hotel room services.

Abstract

Generally in an administrative system there are also report features for beside data entry features. One of the benefits from this report is that users do not need to know where the data is obtained by the database either directly from online transaction processing (OLTP) or historical data. Nevertheless, the report features are designed by the developer in accordance with user needs. Commonly, the application developers use additional softwares integrated to the application. This study describes an alternative report system called Reporting Services which is a software from Microsoft that can be found from SQL 2000 to the latest version. With Reporting Services creating reports can be more easy and interactive to the users, and the results can be direct accessed via the web.

Abstract

Credit sales in a company have greater risks than cash sales do. An excellent internal control is needed over the accounting system of credit sales, receivables and cash receipts to reduce the occurrence of these risks. This study aims to evaluate, identify weaknesses and limitations of internal control and suggests some improvements as needed. The methods used are literary study on books, textbook, and other related literatures; field research by interviewing the relevant parts and observing the company activities, forms and accounting records used.

Abstract

This article contains several things to be controlled by a Project Manager in order to be able to develop a software engineering project plan. The development methodology begins with survey, analysis and engineering in software planning. Establishing a good project team structure is as important as selecting team members who are also experts in their field. Perceiving that the construction and implementation of information technology-based systems are executed using a project management approach, the project manager is then the most responsible officer for the team performance. The project Manager will lead his team to planning and developing information technology projects in accordance with their intended target. There are three fields that must be considered in an information system project, namely: information systems, information technology, and information management.
