Abstract

The use of social media as a communication medium is not limited. In the era of technological development with the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, social media is also used to access information about spiritual issues. This study aims to explore the use of social media as a religious learning solution for the millennial generation in the era of the spread of Covid-19. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method to the millennial generation's tendency to use social media. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and analysis studies of da’wah accounts on social media. The data analysis technique uses the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely collecting data, reducing, and presenting. Data validation uses data triangulation and data sources. This study shows that the millennial generation filters da’wah accounts on social media based on their understanding (manhaj). This research needs to be followed up by mapping the concept of da’wah through social media which is relevant for the millennial generation in Indonesia.

Data collection is carry out using coding data sheets in which researcher code information from research articles in journals about the use of the STAD method in English teaching and learning. The data are analyze by calculating the effect size. The results of the study reveal that overall the STAD method is effective in influencing English learning as much as 1.53 or is in the category of large effect. The STAD method also has an impressive impact in terms of areas with a magnitude of 1.31 in Indonesia. In addition, based on education level, the result of the large effect is 0.9 at the junior high school level and 1.9 at the high school level. On the other hand, the effect on students' English proficiency is 1.64. STAD affects reading, speaking, and writing skills in English with a large effect value of 1.05, 0.81, and 3.07. Abstract

This research was to improve the prospective mathematics teachers’ writing skills in one of the universities in Indonesia. This was classroom-action research to improve students’ skills in writing research proposals. The quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Final year students were selected as the subjects. Observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, anecdotal notes, and student final manuscripts were used as the instruments. The data were analyzed quantitatively to see improvements between cycles and learning completion. Data was also analyzed qualitatively to describe the improvements due to the TTW model after the data reduction and triangulation. The results showed that there were improvements to students’ writing skills by using the TTW model. Cycle #1 completion was 45.45%, Cycle #2 was 69.7%, and Cycle #3 was 81.82%. Students’ skills were improved because TTW provided exercises for thinking skills. TTW also improving speech skills by training students to speak in front of class forums, and improving writing skills by training the students to compile research proposals and providing opportunities to consult with teachers.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the learning process which was initially carried out face-to-face at school into distance learning at home. This is an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Of course, an effective learning media is needed to support the learning process. This study aims to determine the effect of using social media on students' motivation and learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic. This type of research is ex-post facto quantitative research. The populations in this study were students of class XII IPA and IPS MA Negeri 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan as many as 169 people. By using random sampling technique, a sample of 51 students was obtained. Data was collected by using questionnaires and documentation techniques. To analyze the data, this study used simple linear regression analysis. The results showed that: (1) There was a significant effect between the use of WhatsApp social media on the motivation to learn Al-Qur'an Hadith in class XI at MA Negeri 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan. This is evidenced by the obtained significance value of 0.000. Because the significance value is (p) 0.05, then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. (2) There is no significant effect between the use of WhatsApp social media on the learning outcomes of Al-Qur'an Hadith class XI at MA Negeri 1 Solok Plus Keterampilan. This is evidenced by the obtained significance value of 0.560. Because the significance value is (p) 0.05, then Ha is rejected and H0 is accepted. The recommendations of this research are: Principals should be able to give freedom to educators to use media that can support online learning. The school principal must also provide supporting facilities so that online learning can run effectively. Educators can make optimal use of the use of WhatsApp as an online learning medium or as a communication medium to increase students' learning motivation. Educators are expected to find alternatives in order to improve learning outcomes in using WhatsApp as an online learning medium.

Abstract

Arabic material is the main goal for learning Arabic itself, but without the material, students can't be able to master the scope of Arabic courses. The teaching and learning process indeed uses teaching materials. Teaching materials must follow the times that are by the current trend, namely the era of 4.0, which must link information and communication technology in lectures. ICT is known as software, and hardware, which supports classes, is software. This software has various types, one of which is Lecture Maker. This study uses research and development or R D using the Borg and Gall model where the steps are as follows: a). Needs analysis, b). Design, c). Development, d) trials, e) revisions, f) dimensions, production, and distribution. With the development results, this teaching material is suitable for use in Arabic language courses in universities. It is also ideal for distribution because it can be applied to laptops or computers. After all, users do not need to install the Lecture Maker application itself.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the major features of women’s language used by the female characters in “Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn” movie. This study investigates the types of women speech features found in the movie. A qualitative approach employing a content analysis method was used in this study. The data were taken from female characters’ utterances. The data were then identified and analyzed based on the classifications of women’s speech features proposed by Lakoff (1975). Findings of this study indicate that six of the features are used by the female characters: lexical hedges/fillers, empty adjectives, tag questions, super polite forms, avoiding strong words, and emphatic stress. Rising intonation, precise color terms, intensifiers, and hypercorrect grammar have not been found in the current research data.

Abstract

The use of e-learning platforms during the Covid-19 pandemic and in the context of facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is a must in almost all levels of education, especially in universities. Many efforts have been made and implemented in order to apply these demands, for example by developing applications that are expected to help organize the digital learning process. The method used in obtaining information is a quantitative method using an instrument, namely a questionnaire (distribution of questionnaires) through the Google form application. The subjects in this study were UNP students in the Fundamentals of Education course in the July-December 2020 semester. Based on the research results, information was obtained regarding the policy evaluation of the use of a full online (online) e-learning system that could be categorized as good and effective, but it needs to be improved in several parts, for example: effectiveness, content, interaction patterns, understanding of the material, network access, large/expensive data packets when using video conference collaborating with the platform e-learning. The element of effectiveness/efficiency of online learning as many as 23.5% of respondents considered it less effective / efficient, meaning that there were still gaps in the fully online policy implemented by universities in this case, namely UNP.

Abstract

The development of Science, Technology, and Arts (IPTEKS) which so rapidly affects the process of implementing education can no longer be done conventionally. The learning methodology needs to adapt to these technological developments so that it can be carried out efficiently and effectively. This challenges education experts to continue to innovate in developing learning methods and strategies. How the learning process is carried out in a short time, and not always face to face between the lecturers and students but get the results as expected. One alternative to overcome this problem is to utilize computer-assisted instruction (CAI). This study aims to develop multi-media computer-assisted instruction (CAI) as a means of independent learning. This study uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle method by Luther (1994), which includes six stages of development, namely concept (concept), design (design), material collection, assembly (manufacture), testing (testing), and distribution (distribution). At the testing stage, an alpha (alpha test) was carried out by the experts, while at the distribution stage the students were tested with indicators of usability, ease of use, ease of learning, and satisfaction. Conclusion for all aspects of the overall validity, practicability, and feasibility test, it can be ignored that multi-media computer-assisted instruction (CAI) is valid, practical, and worthy of being used as a means of independent learning
