In this paper we introduce a Cubic Root Unscented Kalman Filter (CRUKF) compared to the Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) for calculating the covariance cubic matrix and covariance matrix within a sensor fusion algorithm to estimate the measurements of an omnidirectional mobile robot trajectory. We study the fusion of the data obtained by the position and orientation with a good precision to localize the robot in an external medium; we apply the techniques of Kalman Filter (KF) to the estimation of the trajectory. We suppose a movement of mobile robot on a plan in two dimensions. The sensor approach is based on the Cubic Root Unscented Kalman Filter (CRUKF) and too on the standard Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) which are modified to handle measurements from the position and orientation. A real-time implementation is done on a three-wheeled omnidirectional mobile robot, using a dynamic model with trajectories. The algorithm is analyzed and validated with simulations.

Deep Learning (DL) is one of the hottest fields. To foster the growth of DL, several open source frameworks appeared providing implementations of the most common DL algorithms. These frameworks vary in the algorithms they support and in the quality of their implementations. The purpose of this work is to provide a qualitative and quantitative comparison among three such frameworks: TensorFlow, Theano and CNTK. To ensure that our study is as comprehensive as possible, we consider multiple benchmark datasets from different fields (image processing, NLP, etc.) and measure the performance of the frameworks' implementations of different DL algorithms. For most of our experiments, we find out that CNTK's implementations are superior to the other ones under consideration.

As the luminescence industry develops, the white light light-emitting diode (LED) package with a single chip and a single phosphor although produces good luminous flux but has a poor color rendering index (CRI) can no longer fulfill the requirements of modern lighting applications. Therefore, this research is conducted to response to the urgent demands of improving other lighting qualities of WLED while maintaining high luminous efficiency. To achieve this target, we applied the new WLED package, which contains multi-chips and multi-phosphor layers, and have obtained outstanding results in both CRI and luminous efficacy. Two types of phosphor used in the WLED package are Y2O3:Ho3+ and ZnO:Bi3+. A color configuration model is also developed to adjust the shading of the white-light LED module. The results of this research show that the triple-layer phosphorhas the best performance when applied in a white-light LED package, which is demonstrated through better color quality, CRI and luminous efficacy, The manufacturers can rely on this research to produce the optimal-quality WLED, or WLED that is appropriate to their quality demands.

Vehicular traffic in metropolitan areas turns congested along either paths or periods. As a case study, we have considered a mass transport system with a bus fleet that rides over exclusive lanes across streets and avenues in an urban area that does not allow the circulation of lightweight vehicles, cargo, and motorcycles. This traffic flow becomes congested due to the absence of restriction policies based on criteria. Moreover, the exclusive lanes are at ground level, decreasing lanes for other vehicles. The main objective of this proposal consists of controlling the access to the exclusive lanes by a cyber-physical system following authorization conditions, verifying the permission status of a vehicle by the accurate recognition of license plates to reduce traffic congestion. Therefore, in the case of invading an exclusive lane without permission, the vehicle owner gets a notification of the fine with the respective evidence.

This paper outlines research conducted using bilinear time-frequency distribution (TFD), a smooth-windowed wigner-ville distribution (SWWVD) used to represent time-varying signals in time-frequency representation (TFR). Good time and frequency resolutions offer superiority in SWWVD to analyze voltage variation signals that consist of variations in magnitude. The separable kernel parameters are estimated from the signal in order to get an accurate TFR. The TFR for various kernel parameters is compared by a set of performance measures. The evaluation shows that different kernel settings are required for different signal parameters. Verification of the TFD that operated at optimal kernel parameters is then conducted. SWWVD exhibits a good performance of TFR which gives high peak-to-side lobe ratio (PSLR) and signal-to-cross-terms ratio (SCR) accompanied by low main-lobe width (MLW) and absolute percentage error (APE). This proved that the technique is appropriate for voltage variation signal analysis and it essential for development in an advanced embedded system.

An efficient and accurate method to evaluate the fundamental error bounds for wireless sen-sor localization is proposed. While there already exist efficient tools like Cram`er-Rao lower bound (CRLB) and position error bound (PEB) to estimate error limits, in their standard formulation they all need an accurate knowledge of the statistic of the ranging error. This requirement, under Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) environments, is impossible to be met a priori. Therefore, it is shown that collecting a small number of samples from each link and applying them to a non-parametric estimator, like the Gaussian kernel (GK), could lead to a quite accurate reconstruction of the error distribution. A proposed Edgeworth Expansion method is employed to reconstruct the error statistic in a much more efficient way with respect to the GK. It is shown that with this method, it is possible to get fundamental error bounds almost as accurate as the theoretical case, i.e. when a priori knowledge of the error distribution is available. Therein, a technique to determine fundamental error limits – CRLB and PEB – onsite without knowledge of the statistics of the ranging errors is proposed.

In this research, we focus on the solutions to enhance the lighting properties as well as the heat regulation of the white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) with conventional phosphor and quantum dots (QDs). Although receiving lots of attention for being an innovative lighting solution with good color rendering index, the potentials of WLEDs conjugated with quantum dots (QDS), especially the QDs-phosphor mixed nanocomposites ones, are restrained due to the lacking performance in the aspects mentioned above. The crucial requirement to produce better WLEDs is finding solutions that improve the lacking aspects, therefore, through observing previous studies and applying advanced technique, this research suggest an effective and unique packaging configuration, in which the nanocomposites QDs-phosphor layer is set horizontally to the WLED. This novel packaging configuration allow WLED performance in terms of lighting and heating to reach it peaks. This is the first time four different types of WLEDs, single-layer phosphor, dual-layer remote phosphor with yellow-red and yellow-green, and triple-layer phosphor, were simulated, utilized and compared in one study to decide the best WLED configuration. The results show that the triple-layer phosphor configurations improve the color rendering ability and lumen output better than the other configurations.

In recent years, the reconfiguration of the distribution network has been proclaimed as a method for realizing power savings, with virtually zero cost. The current trend is to design distribution networks with a mesh network structure, but to operate them radially. This is achieved by the establishment of an appropriate number of switchable branches which allow the realization of a radial configuration capable of supplying all of the normal defects in the box of permanent defect. The purpose of this article is to find an optimal reconfiguration using a Meta heuristic method, namely the particle swarm optimization method (PSO), to reduce active losses and voltage deviations by taking into account certain technical constraints. The validity of this method is tested on a 33-IEEE test network and the results obtained are compared with the results of basic load flow.

This contribution introduces a novel broadband power amplifier design, operating in the frequency band ranging from 1.5 GHz to 3 GHz which cover the mainstream applications running in L and S bands. Both matching and biasing networks are synthesized by using microstrip transmission lines. In order to provide a wide bandwidth, two broadband matching techniques are deployed for this purpose, the first technique is an approximate transformation of a previously designed lumped elements matching networks into microstrip matching circuits, and the second technique is a binomial multi-sections quarter wave impedance transformer. The proposed work is based on ATF-13786 active device. The simulation results depict a maximum power gain of 16.40 dB with an excellent input and output matching across 1.5 GHz ~ 3 GHz. At 2.2 GHz, the introduced BPA achieves a saturated output power of 16.26 dBm with a PAE of 21.74%, and a 1-dB compression point of 4.5 dBm input power level. The whole circuitry is unconditionally stable over the overall bandwidth. By considering the broadband matching, the proposed design compares positively with the most recently published BPA.

Security threat is a crucial issue in cognitive radio network (CRN). These threats come from physical layer, data link layer, network layer, transport layer, and application layer. Hence, security system to all layers in CRN has a responsibility to protect the communication between among Secondary User (SU) or to maintain valid detection to the presence of Primary User (PU) signals. Primary User Emulation Attack (PUEA) is a threat on physical layer where malicious user emulates PU signal. This paper studies the effect of exclusive region of PUEA in CRN. We take two setting of exclusive distances, 30m and 50m, where this radius of area is free of malicious users. Probability of false alarm (Pf) and miss detection (Pm) are used to evaluate the performances. The result shows that increasing distance of exclusive region may decrease Pf and Pm.
