Abstract

The recognition of emotions is a vast significance and a high developing field of research in the recent years. The applications of emotion recognition have left an exceptional mark in various fields including education and research. Traditional approaches used facial expressions or voice intonation to detect emotions, however, facial gestures and spoken language can lead to biased and ambiguous results. This is why, researchers have started to use electroencephalogram (EEG) technique which is well defined method for emotion recognition. Some approaches used standard and pre-defined methods of the signal processing area and some worked with either fewer channels or fewer subjects to record EEG signals for their research. This paper proposed an emotion detection method based on time-frequency domain statistical features. Box-and-whisker plot is used to select the optimal features, which are later feed to SVM classifier for training and testing the DEAP dataset, where 32 participants with different gender and age groups are considered. The experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits 92.36% accuracy for our tested dataset. In addition, the proposed method outperforms than the state-of-art methods by exhibiting higher accuracy.

Abstract

The static power consumption is an important parameter concern in IC design due to t for a higher integration numbers of transistor to achieve greater performance in a single chip. Leakage current is the main issues for static power dissipation in standby mode as the size of transistor been scale. Therefore, the subthreshold leakage current rises due to threshold voltage scaling and gate leakage current increases due to scale down of oxide thickness. In this paper, a Variable Body Biasing (VBB) technique was applied to reduce static power consumption in VLSI design. The VBB technique used a DC bias at body terminal to control the threshold voltage efficiently. The Synopsys Custom Designer EDA tools in 90nm MOSFET technology was used to design a 1-bit full adder with VBB technique in full custom methodology. The simulation of 1-bit full adder was carried out with operation voltage   supply was compared in conventional technique and VBB technique. The results achieved the reduction in term of peak power,   and average power,   in static CMOS 1-bit full adder compared with conventional bias and VBB technique.

Abstract

Channel coding is commonly based on protecting information to be communicated across an unreliable medium, by adding patterns of redundancy into the transmission path. Also referred to as forward error control coding (FECC), the technique is widely used to enable correcting or at least detecting bit errors in digital communication systems. In this paper we study an original FECC known as polar coding which has proven to meet the typical use cases of the next generation mobile standard. This work is motivated by the suitability of polar codes for the new coming wireless era. Hence, we investigate the performance of polar codes in terms of bit error rate (BER) for several codeword lengths and code rates. We first perform a discrete search to find the best operating signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at two different code rates, while varying the blocklength. We find in our extensive simulations that the BER becomes more sensitive to operating SNR (OSNR) as long as we increase the blocklength and code rate. Finally, we note that increasing blocklength achieves an SNR gain, while increasing code rate changes the OSNR domain. This trade-off sorted out must be taken into consideration while designing polar codes for high-throughput application.

Abstract

In the present day world power system deregulation is at its full stretch. In this deregulated environment there is a clear need for adequate computation of ATC which is currently being given at most importance. The insertion of FACTS devices in electrical systems seems to be a promising strategy to enhance ATC. In this paper, the viability and technical merits of boosting ATC using TCSC are analyzed. The methods used for determining ATC are linear methods, which are based on MVA loading of the system considering system thermal limit constraints, neglecting bus voltages and static collapse. Power Transfer Distribution Factors, commonly referred to as PTDFs, express the percentage of a power transfer that flows on a transmission facility. They are used to determine the maximum ATC that may be available across the system without violating line thermal limits. The effect of reactive power flows in line loading is not considered in linear ATC which is a major limitation. This paper describes a fast algorithm to incorporate this effect. In this paper the line post transfer complex flow is estimated based on exact circle equation and then ATC is evaluated using active power distribution factors. Abstract

Medical imaging process has evolved since 1996 until now. The forming of Computer Aided Diagnostic (CAD) is very helpful to the radiologists to diagnose breast cancer. KNN method is a method to do classification toward the object based on the learning data which the range is nearest to the object. We analysed two types of cancers IDC dan ILC. 10 parameters were observed in 1-10 pixels distance in 145 IDC dan 7 ILC. We found that the Mean of Hm(yd,d) at 1-5 pixeis the only significant parameters that distingguish IDC and ILC. This parameter at 1-5 pixels should be applied in KNN method. This finding need to be tested in diffrerent areas before it will be applied in cancer diagnostic.

Abstract

This paper presents the different circuit approaches of the electric and magnetic interaction of Single Split Ring Resonator (SRR) loaded microstrip line. We loaded the microstrip line with planar square split ring resonator in different configurations and orientations. The modeling behavior of metamaterials-based microstrip lines loaded with single and two-mirrored split ring resonators is analyzed numerically in two orientations (with gap of SRR parallel and perpendicular to the line). The full wave simulations are performed for the single and two-mirrored split ring resonators loaded microstrip inside a waveguide with ‘High Frequency Structure Simulator’ software. The equivalent circuit parameters are obtained for the single split ring resonator loaded with microstrip line with the gap parallel and near to the line from transmission line theory  that make use of just the resonance frequency and minimum of the reflection coefficient. The simulation of different orientations of split ring resonator gives better reflection coefficient and wider frequency.

Abstract

Software testing is considered to be one of the most important processes in software development for it verifies if the system meets the user requirements and specification. Manual testing and automated testing are two ways of conducting software testing. Automated testing gives software testers the ease to automate the process of software testing thus considered more effective when time, cost and usability are concerned. There are a wide variety of automated testing tools available, either open source or commercial. This paper provides a comparative review of features of open source and commercial testing tools that may help users to select the appropriate software testing tool based on their requirements.

Abstract

Classification based on sequential pattern data has become an important topic to explore. One of research has been carried was the Classify-By-Sequence, CBS. CBS classified data based on sequential patterns obtained from AprioriLike sequential pattern mining. Sequential patterns obtained were called CSP, Classifiable Sequential Patterns. CSP was used as classifier rules or features for the classification task. CBS used AprioriLike algorithm to search for sequential patterns. However, AprioriLike algorithm took a long time to search for them. Moreover, not all sequential patterns were important for the user. In order to get the right and meaningful features for classification, user uses a constraint in sequential pattern mining. Constraint is also expected to reduce the number of sequential patterns that are short and less meaningful to the user. Therefore, we developed CBS_CLASS* with Single Constraint Progressive Mining of Sequential Patterns or Single Constraint PISA or PISA*. CBS_Class* with PISA* was proven to classify data in faster time since it only processed lesser number of sequential patterns but still conform to user’s need. The experiment result showed that compared to CBS_CLASS, CBS_Class* reduced the classification execution time by 89.8%. Moreover, the accuracy of the classification process can still be maintained.

Abstract

Oil fields produce associated petroleum and wet gas, which can be mixed with commercial natural gas as fuel. Associated petroleum and wet gas are a low cost, low quality fuel, whereas commercial natural gas is the opposite. Two parameters are affected by this mixture: the fuel cost and the power – steam output of gas turbine – heat recovery steam generators. This research develops a Unit Commitment and Optimal Power Flow model based on Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming to optimize combined heat and power cost by considering the optimal mixture between associated petroleum - wet gas and commercial natural gas. A thermodynamic model is used to represent the performance of gas turbine – heat recovery steam generators when subjected to different fuel mixtures. The results show that the proposed model can optimize cost by determining the most efficient power – steam dispatch and optimal fuel mixture. Furthermore, the optimization model can analyse the trade-off between power system losses, steam demand and associated - wet gas utilization.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology forces everything to be done sophisticated, easy, and practical. During the information technology revolution 4.0 which is commonly called the disruptive era, the people need communication to exchange information and data. One of the communication systems that has been found today is handphone technology that can be used to communicate remotely through short message services. It can be ascertained that almost every adult having a handphone can be even more than one number, so it is a top priority for market sharing in business activities by utilizing gammu and kalkun technology. Gammu which is an open source program application was developed to build SMS gateways and or while the kalkun program application is used for web based SMS management system. This paper describes the use of gammu and kalkun in information technology to develop and manufacture and manage SMS SERVER effectively and certainly can save costs. This method is more efficient because it allows companies to easily manage their own information dissemination and sales activities and according transactions to business needs, so that the budget spent by the company can be reduced and more economical.
