Nowadays, the exhaustion of electricity power in rural areas is becoming an important issue for many African Nations. Moreover, challenges include the high cost of extending the power grid to these locations, the economic health of the utilities and lack of revenue in impoverished villages. Numerous new initiatives are being implemented in the countries some of them co-financed by international organizations. In this paper, the hybrid microgrid is carried out as a feasible solution for a small rural village. A model of hybrid microgrid consisting of combination of photovoltaic (PV) panels and battery energy storage (BES) and a control system for managing the components of entire system to feed the village as local load is proposed. The control system must avoid the interruptions of power delivered to the consumers (village) and, therefore, good quality and reliability of system is required. The PI controllers are used to regulate the voltage and current using three-phase dq transformation, while the parameters are determined using Ziegler-Nichols tuning method. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results given by the Matlab/SimPowerSystems environment.

Proper employment of Hybrid Wind/ PV system is often implemented near the load, and it is linked with the grid to study dynamic stability analysis. Generally, instability is because of sudden load demand variant and variant in renewable sources generation. As well as, weather variation creates several factors that affect the operation of the integrated hybrid system. So this paper introduces output result of a PV /wind via power electronic technique; DC chopper; that is linked to Iraqi power system to promote the facilitating achievement of Wind/ PV voltage. Moreover, PSS/E is used to study dynamic power stability for hybrid system which is attached to an effective region of Iraqi Network. The hybrid system is connected to Amara Old bus and fault bus is achieved to that bus and the stability results reflects that settling time after disturbance is not satisfactory. But, it is found that PV/wind generation system influences Iraqi grid stability to be better than that with only PV generation and the latter is better than stability of the grid that is enhanced with only wind generation. These results represent an important guideline for Iraqi power system planner.

The ontologies are progressively imposing themselves in the field of knowledge management. While the manual construction of an ontology is by far the most reliable, this task has proved to be too tedious and expensive. To assist humans in the process of building an ontology, several tools have emerged proposing the automatic or semi-automatic construction of ontologies. In this context, Text2Onto has become one of the most recognized ontology learning tools. The performance of this tool is confirmed by several research works. However, the development of this tool is based on Princeton WordNet (PWN) for English. As a result, it is limited to the processing of textual resources written in English. In this paper, we present our approach based on JWOLF, a Java API to access the free WordNet for French that we have developed to adapt this tool for the construction of ontologies from corpus in French. To evaluate the usefulness of our approach, we assessed the performance of the improved version of Text2Onto on a simplistic corpus of French language documents. The results of this experiment have shown that the improved version of Text2Onto according to our approach is effective for the construction of an ontology from textual documents in the French language.

Fractional identification of rotor skin effect in induction machines is presented in this paper. Park‘s transformation is used to obtain a system of differential equations which allows to include the skin effect in the rotor bars of asynchronous machines. A transfer function with a fractional derivative order has been selected to represent the admittance of the bar by the help of a non integer integrator which is approximated by a J+1 dimensional modal system. The machine parameters are estimated by an output-error technique using a non linear iterative optimization algorithm. Experimental results show the performance of the modal approach for modeling and identification.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i3.2286

Agglomerative hierarchical is a bottom up clustering method, where the distances between documents can be retrieved by extracting feature values using a topic-based latent dirichlet allocation method. To reduce the number of features, term selection can be done using Luhn’s Idea. Those methods can be used to build the better clusters for document. But, there is less research discusses it. Therefore, in this research, the term weighting calculation uses Luhn’s Idea to select the terms by defining upper and lower cut-off, and then extracts the feature of terms using gibbs sampling latent dirichlet allocation combined with term frequency and fuzzy Sugeno method. The feature values used to be the distance between documents, and clustered with single, complete and average link algorithm. The evaluations show the feature extraction with and without lower cut-off have less difference. But, the topic determination of each term based on term frequency and fuzzy Sugeno method is better than Tsukamoto method in finding more relevant documents. The used of lower cut-off and fuzzy Sugeno gibbs latent dirichlet allocation for complete agglomerative hierarchical clustering have consistent metric values. This clustering method suggested as a better method in clustering documents that is more relevant to its gold standard.

This paper presents a novel design of a vibration tuning fork gyroscope (TFG) based on a differential driving suspension coupling spring between two gyroscopes. The proposed TFG is equivalent to a transistor differential amplifier circuit. The mechanical vibrations of driving frames are, therefore, well matched. The matching level depends on stiffness of spring. When three various TFG structures respond to differential stiffness of spring, their the driving frame mechanical vibration is well matched in case the input excitation driving differential phase is less than 3.5°, 2.5°, and 4°, respectively. The fabricated tuning fork gyroscope linearly operates in the range from -200 to +200 degree/s with the resolution of about 0.45 mV/degree/s.

In this paper power energy had been estimated based on actual wind speed records in a coastal city in Palestine Ashdod. The main aims of this study to determine the feasibility of wind turbine and to estimate payback period. Therefore, to encourage investment in renewable energy in Palestine. The daily average wind speed data had been analyzed and fitted to the Weibull probability distribution function. The parameters of Weibull had been calculated by author using Graphical method the applied example wind turbine is 5kw wind turbine generator this is suitable turbine for small scale based on wind speed records on the coastal plain of Palestine. This study calculated the energy that can produce from wind turbine to estimate the revenue of any possible project in wind energy conversion system based on unit area. Energy has been calculated wind energy using two different method based on Weibull data and measured data. The total amount of energy for 2010 is 10749.8 kw.hr/m2 based on measured wind speed. Payback period for the project in wind energy turbines is around 3 years which make the generation electricity possible for small scale but not commercial. This study will lead to assess the wind energy production in Palestine to encourage investment in renewable energy sectors.

One of the key components of the Internet of Things (IoT) is the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). WSN is an effective and efficient technology. It consists of senor nodes; smart devices that allows data collection and pre-processing wirelessly from real world. However, issues related to power consumption and computational performance still persist in classicalwireless nodes since power is not always available in application like pipeline monitoring. Moreover, they could not be usually suitable and adequate for this kind of application due to memory shortage and performance constraints. Designing new IoT WSN system that matches the application specific requirements is extremely important. In this paper, wepresent WiRoTip, a WSN node prototype for water pipeline application. An experimental and a comparative studies have been performed for the different node’s components to achieve a final adequate design.

This paper presents a new robust bounded control law to stabilize uncertain nonlinear system with time varying disturbance. The design idea comes from the advantages of backstepping with Lyapunov redesign, which avoid the needs of fast switching of discontinuous control law offered by its counterpart - a variable structure control. We reduce the conservatism in the design process where the control law can be flexibly chosen from Lyapunov function, hence avoiding the use of convex optimization via linear matrix inequality (LMI) in which the feasibility is rather hard to be obtained. For this work, we design two type control algorithms namely normal control and bounded control. As such, our contribution is the introduction of a new bounded control law that can avoid excessive control energy, high magnitude chattering in control signal and small oscillation in stabilized states. Computation of total energy for both control laws confirmed that the bounded control law can stabilize with less enegry consumption. We also use Euler's approximation to compute average power for both control laws. The robustness of the proposed controller is achieved via saturation-like function in Lyapunov redesign, and hence guaranting asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system.
