Process automation is crucial to increase productivity, more efficient use of materials, better product quality, improved safety, etc. In small-medium enterprise (SME) businesses related to household retailing, one of the process automation needed is the measurement and cutting of the mat or sheet, made of rubber or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials. Most of the household retailers that selling the sheet, the process of measuring and cutting according to the customer’s requirements are manually performed using a measuring tape and scissors. These manual processes can cause inaccuracy in length, inefficient use of material, low productivity and reduce product quality. This paper presents a low cost and portable automatic sheet cutter using the Arduino development board, which is used to control the process of measuring and cutting the materials. The system uses a push-button where the user can set the required length and quantity of the sheet. Once the required information is set, the stepper motor rolls the sheet until the required length is satisfied. Subsequently, another stepper motor moves the cutter horizontally and cut the sheet. With the automatic sheet cutter, the material is cut with acceptable precision. The design of the automatic sheet cutter is low cost and portable which significantly suitable to be used by SME household retailers.

With the fast development of artificial intelligence, robotics, and embedded system along with sensor technologies, the speed control mechanism is required in various other applications such as automatic or self-piloting aircraft, auto-driven vehicles, auto driven lifts and much other robotics based automation plants, etc. For each unpredictable and progressed vehicular framework accompanies a better route that is fit for utilizing the two GPS and INS related sign. There have been a noteworthy number of research works being completed towards creating sliding mode control framework. In case of inaccurate navigational data or no availability of navigational service, the cruise control could also stop working. Hence, there is a need to evolve up with a novel system offering reliable and fault tolerant navigation system in order to minimize the dependencies on GPS-based information and maximize the utilization of INS based information. This manuscript presents a dynamic cruise control system to achieve better navigation under uncertainties. The performance of the system is analyzed by incorporating sliding mode and fuzzy logic and achieves better accuracy in tracking error, computational complexity (28 sec of simulation time) under chattering and switching action operation.

The data and information available in most community environments is complex in nature. Sentimental data resources may possibly consist of textual data collected from multiple information sources with different representations and usually handled by different analytical models. These types of data resource characteristics can form multi-view polarity textual data. However, knowledge creation from this type of sentimental textual data requires considerable analytical efforts and capabilities. In particular, data mining practices can provide exceptional results in handling textual data formats. Besides, in the case of the textual data exists as multi-view or unstructured data formats, the hybrid and integrated analysis efforts of text data mining algorithms are vital to get helpful results. The objective of this research is to enhance the knowledge discovery from sentimental multi-view textual data which can be considered as unstructured data format to classify the polarity information documents in the form of two different categories or types of useful information. A proposed framework with integrated data mining algorithms has been discussed in this paper, which is achieved through the application of X-means algorithm for clustering and HotSpot algorithm of association rules. The analysis results have shown improved accuracies of classifying the sentimental multi-view textual data into two categories through the application of the proposed framework on online polarity user-reviews dataset upon a given topics.

The continued growth in load demand and the gradual change of generation sources to smaller distributed plants utilizing renewable energy sources (RESs), which supply power intermittently, is likely to strain existing power systems and cause congestion. Congestion management still remains a challenging issue in open access transmission and distribution systems. Conventionally, this is achieved by load shedding and generator rescheduling. In this study, the control of the system congestion on an islanded micro grid (MG) supplied by RESs is analyzed using artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm. Different buses are assigned priority indices which forms the basis of the determination of which loads and what amount of load to shed at any particular time during islanding mode operation. This is to ensure as minimal load as possible is shed during a contingency that leads to loss of mains and ensure a congestion free microgrid operation. This is tested and verified on a modified IEEE 30-bus distribution systems on MATLAB platform. The results are compared with other algorithms to prove the applicability of this approach.

With a growing demand for more energy from subscribers, a traditional electric grid is unable to meet new challenges, in the remote areas remains the extension of the conventional electric network very hard to do make prohibitively expensive. Therefore, a new advanced generation of traditional electrical is inevitable and indispensable to move toward an efficient, economical, green, clean and self-correcting power system. The most well-known term used to define this next generation power system is Micro Grid (MG) based on renewable energy sources (RES). Since, the energy produced by RES are not constant at all times, a wide range of energy control techniques must be involved to provide a reliable power to consumers. To solve this problem in this paper we present a Fuzzy Logic Control of isolated Hybrid Systems (HRES) Including Renewable Energy in Micro-Grids to maintain a stability in voltage and frequency output especially in the standalone application. The considered HRES combine a wind turbine (WT) and photovoltaic (PV) panels as primary energy sources and an energy storage system (ESS) based on battery as a backup solution. Simulation results obtained from MATLAB/Simulink environment demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in decreasing the electricity bill of customer.

Population-based approaches regularly are better than single based (local search) approaches in exploring the search space. However, the drawback of population-based approaches is in exploiting the search space. Several hybrid approaches have proven their efficiency through different domains of optimization problems by incorporating and integrating the strength of population and local search approaches. Meanwhile, hybrid methods have a drawback of increasing the parameter tuning. Recently, population-based local search was proposed for a university course-timetabling problem with fewer parameters than existing approaches, the proposed approach proves its effectiveness. The proposed approach employs two operators to intensify and diversify the search space. The first operator is applied to a single solution, while the second is applied for all solutions. This paper aims to investigate the performance of population-based local search for the nurse rostering problem. The INRC2010 database with a dataset composed of 69 instances is used to test the performance of PB-LS. A comparison was made between the performance of PB-LS and other existing approaches in the literature. Results show good performances of proposed approach compared to other approaches, where population-based local search provided best results in 55 cases over 69 instances used in experiments.

In this paper, design and simulation of a parallel hybrid electric two-wheeler motorcycle (PHETM) by means of continuous variable transmission (CVT) is illustrated. For simulation, the parallel hybrid electric power train model type in MATLAB/ADVISOR is customized. The internal combustion engine (ICE) be supposed to drive at elevated efficiency areas, in order to attain enhanced fuel economy and a reduced amount of emission. Simultaneously, the ICE must not activate at values of low torque areas. For that reason, get better it whilst ICE is ON, a new energy control strategy is proposed. In the new strategy, the electrical machine absorbs the extra torque of the ICE. This article proposes a PHETM system to propel the vehicle efficiently with reduced amounts of emission on comparing witha conventional vehicle. This system includes two modes of operations for achieving the better results known as motoring mode and generating mode. The switching from one mode to other is based on the vehicle speed which is sensed in real time. A drive cycle is generated by running the vehicle in normal and slightly gradient condition and finally the results are compared.

A vehicular-to-vehicular (V2V) communication is a part of a vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) that emerges recently due to the heavy traffic environment. V2V is a frequently changing network since it implements vehicles as mobile nodes. The challenges in implementing V2V are the relatively short duration of possible communication and the uneven city environment caused by high rise buildings or other objects that distract the signal transmission. The limited transmitting duration between vehicles requires efficient coordination and communication. This work focuses on the utility of visible light communication in vehicular network (VLC-VN) in data transmitting and the obstacle awareness in the forwarding scheme based on our knowledge in previous researches. The result of evaluating the feasibility of VLC-VN forwarding in a freeway environment the transmission delay is lower than 1 second in 500 byte data transmission, however it reaches to only about 4% in throughput as a drawback.

DC power supply has become the driving source for some essential modern applications. Thereby, DC power conditioning has become a significant issue for engineers. Typically used rectifiers associated with a bridge structure is nonlinear in nature. Thereby, the current at input side of the rectifier contains harmonics, which also flow through the power line. The presence of harmonics causes several interruptions and reduce power quality. In this regard, a new close loop SEPIC controlled rectifier is proposed in this paper. The conventional scheme is arranged with a rectifier connected to a DC-DC converter, which is an open loop system. Consequently, such system cannot regulate voltage at load varying condition. The proposed SEPIC controlled rectifier can regulate voltage under load varying condition for a wide range. Additionally, the performance in terms of total harmonic distortion (THD) of input current and power factor at AC side are also within satisfactory range for the closed loop configuration. The controlled rectifier has four operating phases associated with switching states and input voltage polarity. The close loop configuration also incorporates a current and a voltage loop at the feedback path. The comparative studies have been performed among the proposed closed loop construction, the open-loop structure as well as the conventional construction. The effectiveness of the proposed controlled rectifier is verified in terms of THD and input power factor considering the results obtained from simulation.
