Abstract

Aim of demand response (DR) programs are to change the usage pattern of electricity in such a way that, beneficial to the consumers as well as to the distributors by applying some methods or technology. This way additional cost to erect new energy sources can be postponed in power grid. Best method to implement demand response (DR) program is by influencing consumer through the implementation of real time pricing scheme. To harness the benefit of DR, automated home energy management system is essential. This paper presents a comprehensive demand response system with real time pricing. The real time price is determined after considering price elasticity of various classes of consumers and their load profiles. A real time clustering algorithm suitable for big data of smart grid is devised for the segmentation of consumers. This paper is novel in its design for real time pricing and modelling and automatic scheduling of appliances for home energy management. Simulation results showed that this new real time pricing method is suitable for DR programs to reduce the peak load of the system as well as reducing the energy expenditure of houses, while ensuring profit for the retailer.

Abstract

In this paper, a hybrid memristor-CMOS implementation of logic gates simulated using LTSpice. Memristors' implementation in computer architecture designs explored in various design structures proposed by researchers from all around the world. However, all prior designs have some drawbacks in terms of applicability, scalability, and performance. In this research, logic gates design based on the hybrid memristor-CMOS structure presented. 2-inputs AND, OR, NAND, NOR, XOR, and XNOR are demonstrated with minimum components requirements. In addition, a 1-bit full adder circuit with high performance and low area consumption is also proposed. The proposed full adder only consists of 4 memristors and 7 CMOS transistors. Half design of the adder base on the memristor component created. Through analysis and simulations, the memristor implementation on designing logic gates using memristor-CMOS structure demonstrated using the generalized metastable switch memristor (MSS) model and LTSpice. In conclusion, the proposed approach improves speed and require less area.

Abstract

Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) is a set of mobile devices that can self-configuration, self-established parameters to transmission in-network. Although limited inability, MANETs have been applied in many domains to serve humanity in recent years, such as disaster recovery, forest fire, military, intelligent traffic, or IoT ecosystems. Because of the movement of network devices, the system performance is low. In order to MANETs could more contribution in the future of the Internet, the routing is a significant problem to enhance the performance of MANETs. In this work, we proposed a new delay-based protocol aim enhance the system performance, called performance routing protocol based on delay (PRPD). In order to analyze the efficiency of the proposed solution, we compared the proposed protocol with traditional protocols. Experiment results showed that the PRPD protocol improved packet delivery ratio, throughput, and delay compared to the traditional protocols.

Abstract

Mutual information (MI) is one of the most popular and widely used similarity measures in image registration. In traditional registration processes, MI is computed in each optimization step to measure the similarity between the reference image and the moving image. The presumption is that whenever MI reaches its highest value, this corresponds to the best match. This paper shows that this presumption is not always valid and this leads to registration error. To overcome this problem, we propose to use point similarity measures (PSM) which in contrast to MI allows constant intensity dependence estimates called point similarity functions (PSF). We compare MI and PSM similarity measures in terms of registration misalignment errors. The result of the comparison confirms that the best alignment is not at the highest value of MI but near to it and it shows that PSM performs better than MI if PSF matches the correct intensity dependence between images. This opens a new direction of research towards the improvement of image registration.

Abstract

The white light-emitting diode (WLED) has been the most advance lighting method currently, however, the fabrication process of this configuration still has drawbacks which negatively affect its color quality. This research was conducted to provide a method for WLED’s lighting output enhancement. Since CaCO3 particles are excellent for thermal stability enhancement, especially when being combined with an adhesive substance, we decided to integrate CO3 particles into resin matrix such as melamine formaldehyde (MF) and investigate their influences on the optical properties, including color uniformity and lumen output, of the WLED. The results showed that CaCO3 and MF resin are beneficial to the light scattering efficiency, which results in higher luminous flux and chromatic quality for WLED packages. In addition to that, the appropriate amounts of MF resin and CaCO3 for reaching the best lumen efficiency and color quality are figured out at 1% and 10%, respectively. Moreover, another advantage of using MF resin and CaCO3 for fabricating WLEDs is cost effectiveness. Hence, it has turned out that CaCO3 and MF resins can be potential materials for next high-quality WLED generations.

Abstract

Data modeling and data processing are important activities in any scientific research. This research focuses on the modeling of data and processing of data generated by a saccadometer. The approach used is based on the relational data model, but the processing and storage of the data is done with client datasets. The experiments were performed with 26 randomly selected files from a total of 264 experimental sessions. The data from each experimental session was stored in three different formats, respectively text, binary and extensible markup language (XML) based. The results showed that the text format and the binary format were the most compact. Several actions related to data processing were analyzed. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the two fastest actions are respectively loading data from a binary file and storing data into a binary file. In contrast, the two slowest actions were storing the data in XML format and loading the data from a text file, respectively. Also, one of the time-consuming operations turned out to be the conversion of data from text format to binary format. Moreover, the time required to perform this action does not depend in proportion on the number of records processed.

Abstract

Recently, mobility prediction researches attracted increasing interests, especially for mobile networks where nodes are free to move in the three-dimensional space. Accurate mobility prediction leads to an efficient data delivery for real time applications and enables the network to plan for future tasks such as route planning and data transmission in an adequate time and a suitable space. In this paper, we proposed, tested and validated an algorithm that predicts the future mobility of mobile networks in three-dimensional space. The prediction technique uses polynomial regression to model the spatial relation of a set of points along the mobile node’s path and then provides a time-space mapping for each of the three components of the node’s location coordinates along the trajectory of the node. The proposed algorithm was tested and validated in MATLAB simulation platform using real and computer generated location data. The algorithm achieved an accurate mobility prediction with minimal error and provides promising results for many applications.

Abstract

We develop a precise writing survey on sequence-to-sequence learning with neural network and its models. The primary aim of this report is to enhance the knowledge of the sequence-to-sequence neural network and to locate the best way to deal with executing it. Three models are mostly used in sequence-to-sequence neural network applications, namely: recurrent neural networks (RNN), connectionist temporal classification (CTC), and attention model. The evidence we adopted in conducting this survey included utilizing the examination inquiries or research questions to determine keywords, which were used to search for bits of peer-reviewed papers, articles, or books at scholastic directories. Through introductory hunts, 790 papers, and scholarly works were found, and with the assistance of choice criteria and PRISMA methodology, the number of papers reviewed decreased to 16. Every one of the 16 articles was categorized by their contribution to each examination question, and they were broken down. At last, the examination papers experienced a quality appraisal where the subsequent range was from 83.3% to 100%. The proposed systematic review enabled us to collect, evaluate, analyze, and explore different approaches of implementing sequence-to-sequence neural network models and pointed out the most common use in machine learning. We followed a methodology that shows the potential of applying these models to real-world applications.

Abstract

In this article, we present a new methodology to design an intelligent photovoltaic power plant connected to an electrical grid with storage to supply the laying hen rearing centers. This study requires a very competent design methodology in order to optimize the production and consumption of electrical energy. Our contribution consists in proposing a robust dimensioning synthesis elaborated according to a data flow chart. To achieve this objective, the photovoltaic system was first designed using a deterministic method, then the software "Homer" was used to check the feasibility of the design. Then, controllers (fuzzy logic) were used to optimize the energy produced and consumed. The power produced by the photovoltaic generator (GPV) is optimized by two fuzzy controllers: one to extract the maximum energy and another to control the batteries. The energy consumed by the load is optimized by a fuzzy controller that regulates the internal climate of the livestock buildings. The proposed control strategies are developed and implemented using MATLAB/Simulink.

Abstract

This article focuses on enhancing the lighting efficiency of pc-WLEDs, a new and advanced lighting solution that has received lots of attention. To adapt to the demand of modern lighting, the lighting performance of pc-WLEDs must be improved, especially the color homogeneity and luminous flux, two of the most important quality indicators of pc-WLEDs. Through experiments, this article proposes using the scattering enhancement particles (SEPs) such as CaF2 and SiO2 with yellow phosphor Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ in pc-WLEDs configuration. The pc-WLEDs model is created by using the LightTools program and set at 8500 K correlated color temperature, while the experimental results yielded from this simulation will be verified by Mie-scattering theory. The information from this article reveals the scattering coefficients of SEPs at 455 nm and 595 nm wavelengths. Moreover, it is confirmed that the employment of CaF2 is effective in promoting the color but may damage the luminous efficiency if the concentration is too high while the SEP material, SiO2, exhibits high luminous efficiency at all concentration.
