Abstract

Economic growth is one of factor that is critical to determining the welfare of a region. However, differences in geographical conditions and the potential of the area led to differences in economic conditions differ between regions. The case studies conducted on Central Java Province because it is one of the largest contributors to GDP in Indonesia, which still has economic inequality between cities and between districts. To make more easy for visualize the economic growth, researcher then made an application that is able to easily see the effect of growth and clustering in the province of Central Java. There are many methods that can be used for cluster analysis. One of the most common methods used are the K-Means. However, K-Means has some drawbacks. One alternative method is using the Self Organizing Map (SOM) which is capable clustering accompanied by visualization of multidimensional data with techniques Unsupervised Artificial Neural Network. This application allows visualization and analysis because it is integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Applications are made subsequently used to analyze clustering with case study data of Central Java province. The resulting visualization capable of showing a pattern of economic growth in Central Java Province

Abstract

Generally, economic growth of West Java has increased . However, the increase rates are different in each regions with one of the causes is the existence of economic concetration because of industrial agglomeration. This study analyze the phenomenon of industrial agglomeration and its effect to economic growth of West Java also the determinants of economic growth. Based on Cobb-Douglas function, fix effect model is used for spatial panel regression method that cover 26 regions in 5 years periods (2010-2014). Independent variables used are industrial agglomeration, infrastructure, human capital, capital, and labour with dependet variable is economic growth of West Java. The result shows that there are 8 regions that are agglomerated industrially. Meanwhile, human capital has the biggest elasticity. The characteristic of West Java’s economy is labour-intensive, with labour elasticity is higher than capital elasticity. Furthermore, infrastructure also has positive and significant influence to economic growth. In short, all of independent variables have positive and significant effect towards economic growth of West Java. Therefore, the enhancement of human quality and infrastructure must be improved so the economic growth can increase more.

Abstract

Special method is required for analyzing censored data with spatial dependence. Using linear regression will results in invalid parameter estimations, normality assumption violations, and obscure the model interpretation. Spatial Tobit regression model is used to analize the data of internet usage in Java. MCMC Gibbs sampler method with Bayesian inference approach was used for parameter estimation. As a result, internet usage in Java Island is influenced by the percentage of population living in urban areas, the percentage of population graduated from senior high school, the average length of school, the percentage of households with mobile phones, and the percentage of villages receiving cell phone signal.

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still a crucial problem in Indonesia considering the incidence rate is still high enough that is about 359 per 100,000 births. The biggest cause of MMR in Indonesia is due to the high incidence of birth complications. This papers aims to determine the factors that affect the incidence of birth complications in women of childbearing age in Indonesia by using regression of logistic biner multilevel analysis. The data used are sourced from Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 2012 (SDKI-2012). Based on the results of data processing, it is known that variables of parity, pregnancy complications, history of previous complications and ratio of health centers per 100,000 population are significantly affect the incidence of birth complications in women of childbearing age in Indonesia

Abstract

One of the approaches that can be used to analyze the relationship between export and GDP is by using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). In VECM, the relationship between deviation and short-term dynamics is considered to have a linear pattern. However, the pattern of it may not be linear in various economic circumtances. A A Modelwhich can be used when the relationship pattern between deviation and short-term dynamics is not linear is Threshold Vector Error Correction Model (TVECM). According to the in sample residual, TVECM with 3 regimes is better than other models (VAR, VECM, and TVECM with 2 regimes). According to out sample residual, TVECM with 2 regimes is the better than other models (VAR, VECM, and TVECM with 3 regimes).

Abstract

The successful of developing and implementation of information sistem is dependon the user acceptance. SIPADU-STIS is an academic information system that support academic’s bisnis process. Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) will be employed for analysing of SIPADU-STIS system. Validation of TAM model will estimate using Structural Equation Model (SEM). The model shows that SIPADU-STIS has a high user’s acceptance .

Abstract

River normalization program is one of the ways to handle flood problems. However, not all communities accept this program. For that, we want to know the public perception towards normalization of Ciliwung River and analyze the variables that influence it. Perception data was obtained through survey with household approach in Bukit Duri Village which then analyzed by logistic regression. The results show that 28 percent of households around the river and 22 percent of households not around the river reject normalization. Household perceptions around the river are significantly influenced by sex, organizational participation, socialization, and per capita expenditure. The non-rivers are influenced by employment status, organizational participation, and socialization.

Abstract

The fourth goal of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is to reduce child mortality. One of the efforts to reduce child mortality is increasing immunity for children. Immunity for children can be obtained by providing complete basic immunization and exclusive breastfeeding This study aimed to apply the bivariate binary probit model in determining factors that affect provision of basic immunization and exclusive breastfeeding. The data source used in this research is data of the 2013 National Socio Economic Survey (SUSENAS) in South Kalimantan Province. The best model selection criterion based on the AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) values provided information that the age of first marriage, mother's education, father’s job, the birth attendants and status of the living area have significant effects on the provision of basic immunization and exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Indonesia is the South East Asia’s largest economy and has a substantial and increasingly inspirational middle class of over 20 million. Indonesia has become an attractive market due to her strongly growing consumer market, especially the middle income segment. The high number of population also indicates the existing potential pool of labour. Life Sciences (LS) industry is widely recognised as the new wave of knowledge-based economy. This study identifies relative position of Indonesia in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI) in LS industry and competitiveness of the LS industry in Indonesia compared with other countries. Based on LS sector, Indonesia has to compete mainly with Portugal, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, while based on LS activities, Argentina and Bulgaria are the main competitors. It also reveals that FDI inflow to LS industry in Indonesia is influenced mainly by inflation and return on investment.

Abstract

Raising regional economy is one of the goals of economic development. Measuring regional gap, the Williamson index shows the coefficient of variation of GRDP per capita. This study used a first-difference GMM (FD-GMM) dynamic panel data analysis to calculate per capita GRDP convergence, as well as the determinants, with and without educational variable. The result of this paper shows the existence the sigma convergence and the convergence of per capita GRDP among regions in Central Java. Per capita GRDP of regions in Central Java is significantly influenced by per capita GRDP in previous year, education, worked population and the amount of as a proxy for regional capital variable.
