Abstract

This study deals with the influence of intelligence quotient (IQ) towards the speed-reading ability among high school students in Garut. It aims to reveal whether an individual’s IQ influences his ability to read quickly. This quantitative study used correlational description methods. To gather the data, a test and documentation study were applied involving 40 high school students that were selected through probability sampling technique. The results of the study revealed: 1) Spearman correlation test was conducted due to non-normal data distribution, 2) the Spearman correlation test, Sig 0,754 > alfa 0,05, means IQ level had no significant influence towards students’ speed reading ability, 3) Other factors contributing to the result might be related to: students’ interest and motivation in reading as well as students’ reading habit or activities that may distract them such as vocalisation, lips movements, head movements, regression, and sub-vocalisation.

Abstract

Sikka vernacular language is an isolative language that has various phenomena. One of them is the homonym phenomenon, in which a word has multiple meanings. This research explains the homonym types and the cultural meaning of the homonym in the Sikka vernacular language with the Sikka Krowe dialect. The applied approach was ethnolinguistics to review the language speeches related to cultures. The applied method was qualitative to describe the data in the form of documented data from the source. The applied method was the interview method with the basic technique of recording. The data analysis consisted of a coding method with specific data reduction phases. The results showed that the vernacular language, Sikka, and the dialect, Sikka Krowe had homonym indications in words. They were grouped into homonyms that were homographs and homonyms that were homographs and homophones. Homonyms in Sikka vernacular language and the Sikka Krowe dialect also had meanings, such as Awu, Utan, Daha, and Wua.

Abstract

This research explains the language choices, characteristics, and influential factors on Instagram found in @Jokowi's account. The researcher collected the data by reading and listening with a recording technique. The advanced data collection technique free-participant observation in a speech, recording and noting techniques. The researcher used the coding method to analyze the data. The findings showed the language choices were a singular variety of Indonesian language, singular variety of English, Indonesia-Javanese code-switching, Indonesia-English code-switching, word-code mixing, and phrase-code mixing. The characteristics of the language were formal and non-formal language. The non-formal language covered slank, expression, abbreviation, specific term, foreign term, vernacular language. The researcher also found formal language uses. The most influential factors of the language were the objectives of the utterance, the topic of the utterance, the speech participants, and the intention-goal factor.

Abstract

Folklore is a story born from fictional ideas and true stories. Folklore of each region generally tells about the past from one generation to the next. The folklore of Jaka Poleng and the Arts of Burok is a form of folklore from the Brebes area which is told in the form of true stories and passed down from generation to generation through oral and written traditions. Every folklore must have symbols and meanings that describe certain social characteristics. This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning and function of the Jaka Poleng folklore and Burok Arts for the people of Brebes Regency. This research uses Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutical point of view and William R. Bascom's theory of functions. The study of symbolic meaning from a hermeneutic point of view is a textual interpretation of the meaning of the readings contained in the stories of Jaka Poleng and Seni Burok. The implementation of the symbolic meaning contained in the story is divided into three meanings, namely; respect, resistance, and religion. The functions of the two folklores are a) fantasy function, b) as a means of validation, c) as a means of education, d) as a means of social control of society, and e) as cultural validation.

Abstract

Berdasarkan latar belakang di atas, permasalahan yang dibahas meliputi: 1) Bagaimana kriteria model pembelajaran karyawisata one day menulis feature berbasis ICT, dan 2) Bagaimana model pembelajaran karyawisata one day menulis feature berbasis ICT yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis feature. Penelitian pengembangan ini disusun dengan memodifikasi desain penelitian dan pengembangan Borg & Gall. Hasil uji produk sebagai berikut: 1) model pembelajaran karyawisata one day menulis feature berbasis ICT (pada blog) yang meliputi a) standar kompetensi, b)silabus, c) SAP, dan d) pedoman penilaian, serta 2) Hasil uji coba produk pengembangan terbukti dapat mengoptimalkan keterampilan menulis mahasiswa pada blog, 20% mahasiswa mendapat nilai A dan 80% mendapatkan nilai B. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran karyawisata one day dengan berbasis ICT dapat mengoptimalkan dan meningkatkan hasil pembelajaran menulis feature pada blog. Saran peneliti yaitu hendaknya hasil penelitian ini dikembangkan lebih lanjut oleh peneliti lain. Based on the background above, the issues which are discussed includes: 1) What criteria are in ICT-based learning model of one day field trip for writing feature, and 2) How the model is an ICT-based learning model of one day field trip for writing feature that would be developed to improve feature writing skills. The study was arranged by modifying the development of research design and development of Borg & Gall. Product test results as follows: 1) an ICT-based model of one day field trip learning to write feature (the blog) which includes a) a standard of competence, b) syllabus, c) SAP, and d) assessment guidelines, and 2) results of the trial product development show that it can optimize the writing skills of students in the blog, 20% of students get an A and 80% get a B. It can be concluded that the ICT-based learning model of one day field trip can optimize and improve learning outcomes of writing feature on the blog. The researchers suggest that the results of this study needs to be developed further by other researchers.

Abstract

Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) bagaimanakah kebutuhan pengembangan model investigasi sosial pada pembelajaran menulis petunjuk berkonteks multikultural dalam pembentukan karakter dan (2) bagaimanakah karakteristik model investigasi sosial pada pembelajaran menulis petunjuk berkonteks multikultural dalam pembentukan karakter? Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui dua tahap, yaitu (1) tahap pendahuluan, meliputi kegiatan (a) studi literatur, (b) pengumpulan data, dan (c) analisis dan deskripsi temuan; dan (2) tahap pengembangan, meliputi kegiatan (a) penyusunan draf awal, (b) uji ahli, (c) revisi, (d) uji coba, (e) penyempurnaan model, dan (b) penyusunan draf final. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan ini pada (1) tahap pendahuluan dihasilkan dan dideskripsi kebutuhan model pada pembelajaran menulis petunjuk, dan (2) tahap pengembangan dihasilkan model investigasi sosial yang memiliki tahapan (a) orientasi, (b) eksplorasi, (c) konfirmasi, dan (d) refleksi. Model investigasi sosial ini relatif mudah disesuaikan dan komprehensif antara tujuan akademik, integrasi sosial, dan proses pembelajaran sosial. Oleh karena itu, guru hendaknya menggunakan model ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif, psikomotor, dan afektif siswa. The problems of the study are (1) how the needs of the development of social investigation models in learning writing multicultural context instruction in the character building and (2) how the characteristics of a social investigation model in learning writing multicultural contextual instruction in the character building. The research is conducted in two stages, namely (1) preliminary phase includes (a) the study of literature, (b) data collection, and (c) the analysis and description of findings, and (2) stage of development, includes (a) preparation of initial draft, (b) test experts, (c) revision, (d) test, (e) improvement of model, and (b) preparation of final draft. The results of this research and development in the (1) preliminary phase produce and describe the need of model in learning writing instructions, and (2) stage of development produce social investigation model that has stages (a) orientation, (b) exploration, (c) confirmation, and (d) reflection. Model of social investigation is relatively easily customized and comprehensive between academic goals, social integration, and social learning process. Therefore, teachers should use this model to enhance cognitive abilities, psychomotor, and affective of students.

Abstract

Rumuskan masalah penelitian ini adalah apakah kinerja guru khususnya dalam mengajarkan mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia kepada siswa kelas 5 SD negeri inti dan imbas di Kecamatan Sidorejo, Kota Salatiga telah memenuhi standar proses pembelajaran aktif? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode evaluasi. Jenis penelitian evaluasi bertujuan mengevaluasi program termasuk di dalamnya program pembe- lajaran dalam rangka pengambilan keputusan. Pembelajaran aktif pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SD kelas 5 Kecamatan Sidorejo, Kota Salatiga pada umumnya sudah baik. Namun demikian, kemahiran guru merumuskan tujuan dan indikator pembelajaran, mengorganisasikan materi pembelajaran berdasarkan strategi belajar aktif, mengevaluasi pembelajaran, dan kemahiran dalam menguasai metode pembelajaran yang variatif dan inovatif masih kurang. Upaya menumbuhkan kemandirian siswa dalam berinovasi dan layanan bimbingan secara khusus kepada siswa yang bermasalah juga belum maksimal. The statement of the problem in this research is whether the performance of teachers, especially in the Indonesian language subjects taught at the 5th grade students in Sidorejo District, Salatiga has met the standard of active learning process. This study uses the method of evaluation. This type of evaluation study aims to evaluate the program includes learning programs in order to decision making. Active learning in Indonesian language teaching in elementary school class 5 Sidorejo District, Salatiga is good in general. However, the proficiency of teachers in formulating goals and indicators of learning, organizing learning materials based on active learning strategies, evaluating learning, and proficiency in mastering varied and innovative learning methods is still lacking. Efforts to foster students’ independence in innovation and guidance services in particular to students with problems are also not maximal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini terfokus pada keefektifan pembelajaran menulis cerpen di SMA antara kelas yang diberi model dari cerpen ke cerpen dengan kelas yang diberi model bersafari. Sesuai dengan permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan keberhasilan pembelajaran menulis cerpen dengan digunakannya kedua model tersebut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan melihat perbedaan kelompok eksperimen 1 yang dirancang dengan model dari cerpen ke cerpen dan kelompok eksperimen 2 dengan model bersafari. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dengan instrumen tes berupa soal tes menulis cerpen dan hasil tulisan cerpen siswa sebagai sumber data. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah post-test only, non-equivalent control group design. Kelompok yang dipilih merupakan variabel terikat . Pengukuran dilakukan satu kali. yaitu setelah pemberian perlakuan di masing-masing kelas eksperimen. Tidak dilakukan pretes karena adanya kesetaraan di antara kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen 1 dengan kelompok eksperimen 2. Perbedaan itu ditunjukkan dengan tingkat signifikansi sebesar 0,001 dengan tingkat signifikansi di kelompok eksperimen 1, yaitu model dari cerpen ke cerpen. Didapat nilai rata-rata 80,02 dengan standar deviasi 1,99 apabila dibandingkan dengan kelompok eksperimen 2 dengan nilai rata-rata 71,93 dengan standar deviasi 2,04, yaitu model bersafari. Model dari cerpen ke cerpen lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan model bersafari bersafari dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen di SMA. Model dari cerpen ke cerpen sangat efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis cerpen di SMA. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menarik dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk lingkup sekolah menengah atas yang lebih luas, sehingga keefektifan model dari cerpen ke cerpen akan membawa dampak positif bagi pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia pada umumnya dan menulis cerpen khususnya. This study is focused on the effectiveness of learning writing short stories in high school between classes given a model of the short story to short story with a class given of safari model. In accordance with these problems, this study aims to determine whether there is a difference of achievement of learning writing short stories by using those both models. This type of study is a research experiment to see the difference in the experimental group 1, which is designed with a model of short stories to short stories and experimental group 2 with a safari model. The method in this study is a test with a test instrument used is a test to write short stories and students’ writing is as a source of data. The design used in this study is post-test only, non-equivalent control group design. The selected group is the dependent variable. The measurements are performed once that is after the treatment in each experimental class. There is no pretest because of the equality between the treated experimental groups. The results of this study show that there is significant difference between experimental group 1 and group 2 experiments. The difference is indicated by a significance level of 0.001 with a significance level in the experimental group 1, which is a model of short stories to short stories. It is obtained the average value of 80.02 with a standard deviation of 1.99 when it is compared with the experimental group 2 with an average value of 71.93 with a standard deviation of 2.04, which is a safari model. Model of short story to the story is more effective than the safari models in learning writing short stories in high school. Model of short story to short story is very effective in learning writing short stories in high school. Thus, this study is attractive to be further developed in wider scope of high school, so that the effectiveness of the model short story to short story will bring a positive impact in learning Indonesian in general and writing short stories in particular.

Abstract

Pembelajaran berbicara di SMP kurang memuaskan. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhinya adalah model pembelajaran. Oleh sebab itu, perlu adanya perbaikan model pembelajaran yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi di lokasi pembelajaran. Model kooperatif teknik ’Mencari Pasangan’ dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ diduga dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara siswa di SMP, terutama pada siswa introver dan ekstrover. Berkaitan dengan peningkatan mutu pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara dengan kondisi siswa yang berbeda, masalah dalam penelitian adalah, 1) apakah keterampilan berbicara siswa introver yang dibimbing dengan teknik ’Mencari Pasangan’ dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ berbeda? 2) apakah keterampilan berbicara siswa ekstrover yang dibimbing dengan teknik ’Mencari Pasangan’ dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ berbeda? 3) apakah ada interaksi antara kedua perlakuan dengan siswa introver dan ekstrover? 4) apakah ada perbedaan keterampilan berbicara siswa introver dan ekstrover?. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan quasi experiment. Eksperimen dilaksanakan di kelas VIIC dan VIID. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Anova dua jalur. Variabel dalam penelitian ini adalah variabel bebas, yaitu teknik pembelajaran (X), variabel terikatnya adalah keterampilan berbicara siswa introver dan ekstrover (Y). Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa (1) keterampilan berbicara siswa introver yang dibimbing dengan teknik ’Mencari Pasangan’ dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ berbeda, (2) keterampilan berbicara siswa ekstrover yang dibimbing dengan teknik ’Mencari Pasangan” dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ berbeda, (3) ada interaksi antara teknik pembelajaran ’Mencari Pasangan’ dan ’Kancing Gemerincing’ dengan siswa introver dan ekstrover (4) keterampilan berbicara siswa introver dan ekstrover berbeda. Learning speaking in the junior high school is unsatisfactory. One of the factors is the learning model. Therefore, it is needed to improve learning model which is adapted to the conditions of the learning site. Cooperative technique model of ‘Seeking Couple’ and Ttinkling Buttons ‘ is supposed to be able to improve the learning speaking skill of students in junior high school, especially an introvert and extrovert student. Related to improving the quality of the learning speaking skill of students with different conditions, problems in the study are, 1) whether the speaking skill of introvert students who are guided by the technique of ‘Seeking Couple’ and ‘Tinkling Buttons’ are different? 2) whether the speaking skill of extrovert students who are guided by the technique of ‘Looking for Couples’ and ‘Tinkling Buttons’ are different? 3) whether there is interaction between the two treatments with the introvert and extrovert students? 4) whether there are differences in students’ speaking skill who are introvert and extrovert? Method used in the study is quasi experiment. Experiment is carried out in class VIID and VIIC. Data analysis in this study uses Anova two lanes. The variables in this study are the independent variable, namely learning techniques (X), and the dependent variable, namely the speaking skill of introvert and extrovert students (Y). The result of the study finds that (1) the speaking skill of introvert students who are guided by the technique of ‘Looking for Couples’ and ‘Tinkling Buttons’ is different, (2) speaking skill of extrovert students who are guided by the technique of ‘Looking Couple’ and ‘Tinkling Buttons’ is different, (3) there is interaction between learning techniques of ‘Seeking couple’ and ‘Tinkling Buttons’ with introvert and extrovert students (4) speaking skill of introvert and extrovert students is different.

Abstract

Argumen dapat dikatakan hal yang esensial dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hampir setiap pekerjaan ataupun segala hal memerlukan argument. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah pengembangan model pembelajaran menulis argumentasi siswa SMA melalui dukungan ICT. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis argumentasi melalui proses pembelajaran di sekolah. mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis argumentasi melalui proses pembelajaran di sekolah.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan desain penelitian Research and Development (R&D). Model ini memiliki empat prinsip yang mengikuti antara lain: (1) prinsip demokrasi, (2) prinsip kolaborasi, (3) prinsip serba tahu, (4) prinsip berbagi. Model investigasi yang dikembangkan menjadi model IKC dijalankan melalui tujuh langkah pembelajaran. Ketujuh langkah tersebut mencakup (1) pendataan permasalahan, (2) penetapan permasalahan, (3) studi dokumentasi dan eksplorasi, (4) perumusan tugas belajar, (5) kegiatan belajar, (6) analisis kemajuan, dan (7) verifikasi. Model pembelajaran mencakup penggunaan ICT. Penerapan model ini dapat mengembangkan penggunaan metode online maupun offline. The argument can be said to be essential in daily life. Almost every job or anything requires an argument. Problem in this study is the developing learning model writing arguments for high school students through the ICT support. The purpose of this study is to enhance the ability in writing arguments through a learning process in school. The design of the study uses Research and Development (R & D). This model has the following four principles which are: (1) the principle of democracy, (2) the principle of collaboration, (3) the principle of knowing, and (4) the principle of sharing. The model is developed to investigate the IKC model which is run through the seven steps of learning. The seven steps include (1) collection of the problems, (2) determination of the problem, (3) study the documentation and exploration, (4) formulation of the learning task, (5) learning activities, (6) progress analysis, and (7) verification. Learning models include the use of ICT. Application of this model can be developed using the online and offline method.
