Abstract

Poetry becomes one of poets’ media to deliver aspiration, notion, even ideologies. One of the poets who were able to share his notion, feeling even reality well was W.S. Rendra. The purpose of the research is to describe his point of view of world express into Four Poetry Sets. The data of the research is excerpts which have relevancy to problem symptom, the data is gained through understanding the text and literature studies. The review toward W.S. Rendra’s work titled Empat Kumpulan Sajak using literature sociology approach, Goldmann genetic Structuralism theory. Through genetic Structuralism, the theory can be seen completely how the point of view of a poet. The findings are some factors of humanism affecting the poetries in Empat Kumpulan Sajak. Besides the fact of humanity, there is also a point of view of W.S Rendra about compassion, nature, and patriotism. The benefit for readers is they can get and understand W.S. Rendra’s point of view expressed through Empat Kumpulan Sajak.

Abstract

Learning the writing skill of explanatory text demands the students to explain a certain phenomenon occurrence process. Therefore, it needs appropriate learning model to the learners’ learning style. The purpose of this research is to explain the effectiveness of learning writing explanatory text using group investigation based on eleventh graders’ of Senior High School learning style. This research with one group pre-test – post-test design used purposive sampling technique. The technique of data analysis of the instrument used validity and reliability test. Meanwhile, to test the sample used normality and homogeneity test. The final data analysis used a t-test to find out the comparison of the effectiveness of learning writing explanatory text based on learning style. The findings showed sensing typed learners gained 84.71 while intuition typed learners was 78.15. Learning writing explanatory using group investigation model was more effective for sensing typed learners. The significance of the research is to enrich research development on the educational field and to add more knowledge in learning writing explanatory text in educational institutions.

Abstract

The development of technology is increasingly rapid, teenagers are very active in using it from various sides of good and even technological workers. Part of the technology that is quite a lot of users is social media, a variety of the most widely used media such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and chat applications. Plus the number of users of each social media is increasing every day. Like technology, language will also develop rapidly, language transformation will continue to move, but there are some things that need to be considered that language must also get guidance to stay good and not shift the originality of the language itself. The survey results of researchers, on some social media such as youtube and instagram, the average video maker on social media is people who follow western culture, city people, slang and even use contemporary alay language. Next too, most elementary school children use their gadgets to play games, youtube, and play Instagram. So it is deemed necessary to examine how the impact of the media on the acquisition of new language of elementary school children is studied in psycholinguistic studies.

Abstract

The private television program presented by Presenter-Comedian Sule and Andre, This Talkshow, is popular with the public because of the presenter's humorous cohesiveness. Violations of the principle of cooperation cause the humorous effect of the language used by the participants based on age, sex, and social status. This research was conducted to analyze the violation of the principle of cooperation in a humorous speech in this talk show using sociopragmatic studies. Sociopragmatics essentially combines two types of studies, namely Sociolinguistics and Pragmatics. Data collection was carried out by a referring method which was continued with skillful in-flight listening techniques and accompanied by recording and recording techniques. Data analysis was performed using the comparing pragmatic method and method of agih. Based on the results of this study, the creation of humorous speeches is carried out by speakers by utilizing violations of the maxims of the principle of cooperation in humorous speech as a source of creativity. Violations of the principle of cooperation often function as supporting humor.

Abstract

Learning in the classroom often makes students have difficulties in distinguishing the content of news texts with other texts. One of the factors that cause this problem is that students do not fully understand news text writing skills, which include assessment of the title, completeness of the elements of news, diction, sentence effectiveness and spelling in the form of news text. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of learning news text writing skills with STAD and Direct Instruction models based on language attitudes. The design of the study uses a quasi-factorial experiment. The study population is the SMP in Bima Subdistrict using purposive sampling technique. This study used two samples of each class consisting of 32 students namely class VIIIA SMPN 1 Lambu as the experimental class to get treatment using the STAD model and VIIIC class 6 Lambu Junior High School as the control class to get treatment using the Direct Instruction model. Data collection techniques are test and non-test. Data analysis techniques to determine the effectiveness of STAD models using t-test and Anava to determine differences in STAD models and Direct Instruction. The results of the writing skills of the news text STAD model with the average value of the experimental group pre-test 67.59 and the post-test results of 77.78 there were significant differences in the improvement of learning outcomes by 10.19, proved the value of tvalue = 8.459. After using the Direct Instruction model effective in learning news text writing skills from the average pre-test control class of 67.50 and the post-test results to equal to 76.50, there was a significant change of 9, proved tvalue = 13.889. The skill to write news texts on the positive-speaking attitude of students who are treated with the STAD model is better than the writing skills of news texts for students whose positive speaking attitude is treated with the Direct Instruction model.

Abstract

In interactional discourse, the learning between teacher and students is preferably the delivery of intentions to the interlocutor. There are often implicit intentions in these interactions. The objective of this study is to describe the adjacency pair in the conversations of teacher and students in interactional discourse in high school learning. Data were collected by observation method with uninvolved conversation observation technique. Data analysis was conducted by using pragmatic methods with heuristic techniques. Based on research studies, it shows that eleven adjacency pair, including interlocutor of greeting, call-answer, complaint-aid, complaint-apologies, request-allow, request-giving information, request-offer, request-acceptance, assignment-approval, offer-acceptance, and proposal-acceptance. Practically, the research results are useful as input to teachers that there are various language characteristics of high school students that must be considered.

Abstract

Curriculum 2013 explains the increase in student competency in the affective, social skills and skill thinking is the main goal of learning. Curriculum 2013 explains the increase in student competency in the affective, social skills and skill thinking is the main goal of learning. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of learning to produce exposition texts with project-based models in Vocational High Schools based on specialization department. The research method uses an experimental method with design pre-post test control group. The research method used an experimental method with a control group pre-post test design. The technique of collecting data uses tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with an average difference test and Anova. The results of this study are project-based models that effectively improve the skills of producing text exposition of Vocational High School students, who has a special interest in light vehicle engineering. The results of these study benefit students, teachers, and schools in improving the quality of learning in Bahasa Indonesia. For students, this study is to improve mastery of learning material and improve the ability to produce text. For teachers, it can provide broad insight into the project-based learning model. For schools, it can use as a reference in making policies about improving the quality of learning in schools. (tvalue = 10.464 p < 0.01).

Abstract

Literature is born, grows, and lives and develops in society. The influence of the writing for the reader can occur in past readers and today's readers.Through this research, we can learn how to behave or face certain characters in life in society. This studywasconductedwith the aim of describing the influence of social aspects on the behavior of the main character in the novel “Ser! Randha Cocak”by Suparto Brata, namely Javanese culture and western culture, social love, and economic problems of poverty. This study was conductedwith qualitative descriptive, analytical methods that were sourcedfrom the novel.The study data is in the form of discourse fragments which are thought to contain the influence of social aspects on the behavior of the main characters in the novel “Ser! Randha Cocak”by Suparto Brata by using library techniques, then the data was analyzed using heuristic and hermeneutic reading techniques.The results show that Javanese culture considers the lineage of boys as important and arranged marriage tends to be doneso that their children get a good partner. In the social aspect, the love of siblings and spouses makes the leaders help each other, defend, and fight for their enjoyment. Poverty makes leaders, Dororini and Surahanado various ways to achieve their goals to plan a murder. The results of this study are useful for students to know the values contained in a novel, able to sort out the positive and negative sides of thebook and can be used as a material for self-evaluation and attitude in social life.

Abstract

The study of discourse analysis is not based solely on aspects of text analysis, but rather on how text is produced. Therefore, we need a study of the representation of social cognition. This study aimed to interpret the social cognition level in SCTV and INews TV journalists in reconstructing corruption news discourse. The method used in this study is the listening and talking.The simak method includes the technique ofuninvolved conversation observation (simak bebas libat cakap), recording, and note-taking techniques. The cakap method include triggering (pancing), at will conversation (cakap semuka), and recording and note-taking techniques. The analysis technique used in this study was Critical Discourse Analysis technique proposed by Teun A. van Dijk. The results showed that in reconstructing corruption news discourse, SCTV and iNews Tv usedperson scheme, self-scheme, role scheme, and event scheme. The use of these schemes was to support news broadcasted values. The journalists in the level of social cognition from each television both SCTV and INews TV play a role as communicator of the part of society which always informs the dominant discourse that develops in society. The benefits of this research are for the development of discourse science as well as reference material for the community in understanding the characteristics of a media.

Abstract

Knowledge about cohesive devices are important to be masterd by students in composing coherent paragraph. The research has purpose to analyze the coherence of a paragraph in discourse of research proposal of XI graders of SHS. The data of the research is excerpt of research proposal discourse text composed by the students of Kebon Dalem SHS Semarang. Other data source are fifty four proposals. The data were collected by using reading and noting techniques. The data analysis was done by using distributive method. Theoretical approach used are discourse theory of Halliday and Hasan. The methodological approach used was descriptive qualitative. The analyzed data is presented in the form of description of cohesive device facility used to realize coherence of the paragraph. The findings showed the realization of lexical cohesion among sentences are repetition, synonymous, and hyponym. Besides that, the realization of grammatical cohesion among sentences are reference, substitution, conjunction, and nominalization. Meanwhile, the realization of cohesive devices among paragraphs are repetition, reference, and conjunction. It is expected that the result of this research can be used for developing the learning-teaching of research proposal writing skills.
