Abstract

Indonesian language for non-native speakers is considered difficult because its position as a second language. Therefore, BIPA speaking students ask for certain models and techniques in learning so that BIPA students can master Indonesian properly according to their level. This research is a qualitative descriptive study conducted with the aim to study and describe the application of techniques in learning to speak BIPA Beginner Level (A-1) at IAIN Surakarta. This research was conducted at IAIN Surakarta with 6 successful BIPA learners (A-1). Data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique used is interactive analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion conclusions. The results of this study are the application of the game in learning to speak BIPA which is divided into three parts, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. The application of the game in learning to speak BIPA is carried out effectively, although it is still in implementation.

Abstract

The image of Javanese women become an interesting review matter in a novel study. The image can be seen in Gadis Pantai novel by Pramoedya Ananta Toer in which is full of cultural values and social stratum classes. The focus of this research is the image of Javanese women in the novel by using social realism review. The method was hermeneutic by reading repetition in the novel, allowing the reader to deconstruct structurally to reveal the meaning inside of the novel. The data source is the excerpts of the novel in the form of statement, written words, and the actions of the characters in the novel. The data collection techniques were literature study, observation, and notes. The data analysis technique was content analysis. The findings are: (1) the image of Javanese women in the novel could be found on Gadis Pantai character, maid, mother, and Mardinah. The image of Javanese women in the novel showed nglaras rasa and angon rasa, welas asih, nrima and rasa rumangsa, kanthong bolong and gangsir ngenthir, kridha grahita, ngelmu begja, the feeling to have and jealousy, fear, and humble, and (2) the representations of Javanese woman image in the novel could be seen from social aspect, covering from ethics toward people, higher social stratum person, and society inside.

Abstract

Pekalongan City community is a multi-ethnic society. The multi-ethnic community interaction of Pekalongan City raises various language problems, one of them is in terms of language politeness. This study was described the adherence to the principle of linguistic politeness and the violation of the principle of linguistic politeness in the people of Pekalongan, an ethnic Arabic City in the realm of commerce. The data in this study were collected by the simulations method, while the data analysis was carried out using ethnographic methods. The form of adherence to the principle of politeness in the urban community of Pekalongan ethnic Arabs in the realm of trade includes thimble rather than blasphemy, generosity, indulgence, approval, and conciliation. The form of violation of the principle of linguistic politeness in the realm of trade carried out by the people of Pekalongan City, the ethnic Arab includes modesty maxim and agreement maxim.

Abstract

Trans art the truck is a specific code that makes the representation of women as objects. The purpose of this study was to analyze the code and the representation of women in trans art contained in the truck bed. This study uses a Roland Barthes semiotic approach as a theoretical approach and a qualitative descriptive approach as a methodological approach. Data collected by the method of documentation and interview method. Data analysis techniques in this study are the meaning of two stages sign of semiotic Roland Barthes. Based on the research found the code contained in the trans art on the tailgate, namely (1) hermeneutics code, (2) semantics code, (3) symbols code, (4) narrative code, (5) cultural code. In trans art on the tailgate, women represented as (1) women are biological, (2) female praying, (3) tart, (4) female socialites, and (5) sensual woman. The benefits of this research are to give an understanding of the code and representation trans women in art at the tailgate according to semiotic study model of Roland Barthes.

Abstract

The novel by Dyan Nuranindya namely Dealova, Rahasia Bintang and Tetralogy "Kosan Soda," namely Canting Cantiq, Cinderella Rambut Pink, Rock N Roll Onthel and Kotak Pelangi. Teenlit by Dyan Nuranindya explains that experiences with friends have an important role in the lives of teenagers. In Teenlit, it is illustrated that every teenager has a friend who always supports positive things from the main character so that the main character can reach his goals. The study aimed to describe the values ​​of friendship in teenlit by Dyan Nuranindya. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis and dialectical, which is also part of the approach to the theory of tetralogy structuralism. The results of this study are the value of friendship in teenlit Dyan Nuranindya, which includes trust, empathy, honesty, confidentiality, and togetherness. The value of friendship can be used as a reference in assessing the value of friendship in teenlit by Dyan Nuranindya. This research is useful to add to the wealth of research and develop related knowledge in the field of literature, especially the relation with teenlit.

Abstract

Discourse analysis of corruption news is not enough just based on the aspect of text analysis, but rather how a text is produced. Therefore, it takes a study of the representation of social cognition. This study aims to interpret the social cognition of Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI) and Indosiar journalists in constructing a discourse on corruption reporting. The data in qualitative research is obtained through the method of listening and interviewing. The techniques in the listening method used include the technique of free listening involved in interview, recording technique, and note-taking techniques. Meanwhile, in the interview method, the technique used is the direct interview technique and the indirect interview techniques. The data analysis technique used in this study is the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of Teun A. van Dijk. The results of the study showed that in the news discourse corruption was constructed by RCTI and Indosiar using person schemes, self schemes, role schemes, and event schemes. The use of these schemes to support broadcast news values. In social cognition, journalists play a role as social control and communicator to preach the dominant discourse that develops in society. This research is useful for the development of discourse science and becomes a reference material for the community in understanding the characteristics of a media.

Abstract

Writing a short story by learners needs to consider formative elements. Therefore, it needs appropriate and suitable learning model for their learning styles. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of writing short story learning with a quantum model based on learning styles of eleventh graders of senior high school. This pseudo-experimental research used written short story writing test, learning style test, attitude observation, photographs, and interview as techniques of collecting data. Normality test is done by using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. Homogeneity test of the data used Levense. Hypothesis test used paired sample t-test. All of them were done by using SPSS 20 program. It is concluded that the implementation of the model is effective in learning short story writing based on the learning styles of the students. The learning by using the model is more effective for kinesthetic learning style than visual and auditory learning styles. This research is expected to contribute to developing educational field research and to enrich the knowledge of short story writing in an educational institution.

Abstract

Short story writing skill is needed by students to produce a short story based on their creative imagination. Suitable learning is done by using a creative, productive model based on students’ verbal creativities. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of short story writing skill by using a creative-productive model based on eleventh graders of VHS verbal creativities. This quasi-experimental research used the instrument of collecting data such as a test of short story writing, verbal creativity test, behavioral observation, photographs, and interview. Normality tests used Kolmogorov-Smirnov. Homogeneity test used Levense test. Hypothesis test used paired sample t-test. Final data analysis used a t-test to find out the comparison of the learning effectiveness based on verbal creativities. The findings showed an average score of high verbal creativity students was 87.40, moderate 81.05, and the lowest average of 76.6. It proved the learning was effective to be implemented for high verbal creativity students. This research contributes to enrich research development dealing with the educational field and to enrich knowledge in learning writing short story at schools.

Abstract

The title of the Plan becomes a media that describes editorial powers in expressing their opinions. This study aims to analyze the representation of power as reflected in the editorial on terrorism-themed articles in the Pikiran Rakyat General Daily with the article title "Terror Terror." This research is qualitative research using descriptive qualitative study methods. The research data were analyzed using the critical discourse analysis of Teun A van Dijk. The data collection technique used in this study was the skillful listening free technique. The results of this study are in the form of representation of editorial powers in the editorial on the theme of terrorism, namely the editorial alignments of the police and terrorism which are explicitly displayed. The editors positively imaged the police in this editorial. The editors negatively imaged terrorism in this editorial.

Abstract

One form of communication which occurs in the realm of education is in a classroom. In conveying their utterances, teachers not only give information but also have certain intentions. Based on this case, the study aims to analyze the types of utterances of teachers and students who are conservation-minded in their learning interaction at Adiwiyata schools. The research design used was qualitative descriptive. The data was collected by observation method, followed by uninvolved conversation observation technique, recording and taking notes.Furthermore, the data were analyzed using a pragmatic equivalent method with the basic technique to sort the determinants. The results of the study included the utterances types of representative (values of inspiring and honest characters), directive (value of inspiring, humanist, caring and honest characters), expressive (value of innovative and humanist characters), commissive (value of fair character), and declarative (value of inspiring, fair, caring and sportsmanlike characters). The results of this study provide theoretical and practical advantages. Theoretically, this study can find the types of utterances of conservation teachers and students in learning interactions at the Adiwiyata school. The practical advantage of this study is that teachers can use conservation-oriented utterances in conducting their learning interactions
