Abstract

It is important to build the harmony in the livelihood among religious followers in Indonesia continuously. We can appreciate their valuable contribution through thought and real action. The idea of teologi kerukunan and fikih kerukunan has important meaning in daily life. The two concept became the basic of theory to implement the harmonious life in multicultural Indonesia society, both theoretically and practically.

Abstract

The dispute between the adherents of Salafi-Wahabi and Nahdlatul Ulama often occure in various places in Indonesia. The perspectives of the two groups are different and difficult to collaborate. This is also the case in the sub-district of Semampir – east Java when the people of Kecamatan Semampir – Desa Sidotopo Kidul – East Java rejected violently the establishment of the STAI Ali Bin Abi Thalib – an educational institutions founded by Salafi-Wahabi adherents. This study was conducted to understand the various issues concerning the causes of the conflict and what efforts have been made by the Ministry of Religious Affair to elaborate that dissindents. Through observation techniques and in-depth interviews with the people who involved in the conflict, we conclude that the main problem of the conflict are due to differing opinions about religious understanding and theological concept. The Salafi- Wahabi-affiliated institution criticized the traditions of NU through the publication of newsletter and bulletin, radio broadcasting and Friday sermons. The disagreement of the two parties, Salafi Wahabi and NU, is derived from their missionary endeavor and religious attitudes which are extremely contradictive and difficult to compromise. This study provides recommendations to stakeholders such as Ministry of Religious Affairs – East Java government and other civil society organizations working in the field of religion to continue the discussions, dialogues and other effective communication methods in order to unify and resolve the conflict.

Abstract

The Ministry of Religious Affairs through its Directorat General for Christianity Affairs has facilitated the establishment of new union’s synod. It is the response of the proposal of legalization that has been proposed for establishing new synod by a number of small group of churches. Some new synods are able to accept the policy and collaborate with other new synods to establish a union of synod. One of the examples is Sinode Am GPR located in Manado city and the surrounding area. However, after being legalized by the government, the synod is overwhelmed by internal conflict. As a result, the management of the synod did not work well. To look at internal structure of this synod, this study adopts organizational sociology theory form Max Weber. It is to see to what extent organizational culture as well as organizational structure works in the synod. This study aims at describing how the government has facilitated the establishment of new synod, board of new synod. But it did not show good performance. Besides, internal conflict occurred among the boards. This paper is based on the qualitative research through in-depth interview, literature study and observation.

Abstract

Abstrak Kegiatan dakwah yang dilakukan kelompok Jamaah Tabligh dan Pesantren Hidayatullah di Tanah Air telah banyak ditulis. Artikel ini hanya menambahkan saja satu lagi penelitian tentang kiprah kedua institusi tersebut, terutama jejak-jejaknya di wilayah perbatasan Skow Papua, yang berbatasan langsung dengan wilayah Papua New Guinea (PNG). Dai-dai dari kedua lembaga tersebut terus berkiprah dan belakangan memungkinkan terjadinya konversi warga PNG ke Islam. Tulisn ini juga untuk menambahkan literatur tentang jarangnya penelitian kegiatan dakwah di perbatasan. Paper dari hasil riset lapangan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan tentang seberapa jauh dakwah kedua institusi tersebut di kawasan perbatasan Skouw, termasuk capaian keberhasilan dan hambatan-hambatannya. Temuan penting dari riset ini antara lain, gerakan dakwah yang dilakukan oleh lembaga-lembaga seperti Jamaah Tabligh ini ternyata menyuguhkan bukan semata persoalan gerakan kesalehan berdasarkan anjuran agama, namun ternyata juga menyajikan jalinan kerjasama dan juga solusi untuk mencapai level kehidupan lebih baik, terutama untuk kalangan muallaf. Kata Kunci : Jamaah Tabligh, Pesantren Hidayatullah, Dakwah, Rute Perdagangan, hambatan budaya Abstract Proselityzing activities carried out by Jamaat Tabligh and Hidayatullah Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia has been widely published elsewhere. This article is only to add one more study about these two Islamic group that deals chiefly with their specific proselytization activities in Skouw border Jayapura, Papua. This gate splits between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea (PNG). Dai or Islamic proselytization activists of both group continue to keep their dakwah activity that possibles to convert local PNG people into Islam. This paper is based on field research which is approached by qualitative method. Its aim is to respond the question to what extend missionarism of both Islamic religious group at Skow border area, what are achieved so far and what challenges to it. The essential result of this research shows that Islamic missionarism of both group focusing not merely on pietic movement based on relegious tenets, but also stressing on networking between Indonesian and PNG people. Also, it shows the problem solving for gaining economic wellfare, especially for new Islamic converters (muallaf). Abstract

The Study begins from the widespread of hate through social media, hence it becomes an additional task for preachers and boards of religious organisations to make social media as medium to widespread religious messages in order to enhance religious understanding of the congregations. In this regard, the social media activists need to be aware of characters of profiles of their congregations, so that they are able to provide religious messages in informative and interesting packages. The researcher applied the AISAS model proposed by Dentsu in order to describe the attitudes of social media users among the Confucians in accessing any religious information from social media (IKMS). The AISAS was developed to observe attitudes based on the understanding that the internet becomes great, and that the users of social media currently has access to a space where they receive and send any information. In this AISAS (Attention, Interest, Search, Action, and Share) model, the key process is Attention by which the user initially receives messages, followed by Interest. Further, the user does Searches of any information, then performs Actions, and eventually Shares the information to other users. The AISAS model is not linear so that it is able to describe the attitudes of social media users. Through the AISAS model, the readers are expected to have descriptions of social-media-ing attitudes among Confucian society towards any religious information through social media.

Abstract

The Islamic Dakwah needs to apply appropriate methods so it is well orientated and in line with its objectives, it is conveying religious messages. At the beginning of the 20th century in Indonesia had started appearing several social-religious organizations that apply the principles of modern organizations, such as the Syarikat Dagang Islam (SDI), Islam SI (SI), followed by Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah and NU. In general, these organizations deliver four ideas that become the spirit and ideology, which are: religion, sociology, education and economy. The development of the community-based Islamic da’wah management was understood to be implemented as new measures to facilitate the community in order to formulate the principles of the missionary program, by and for the community itself.

Abstract

Jihad is the doctrine or the call of God towards earnest accomplishment. A number of Muslims examine Qur’an and Hadith texts on order above law because of the unavailability of qath’i quotations. This effort is called ijtihad and the person undergoing thr process is is called mujtahid. In Islamic communities there are also people who are trying earnestly to become pure through a series of repentance and remembrance, they are called mujahadah. At this time, the word jihad is much more popular than the word ijtihad and mujahadah. However, the fact is the words are a form of application of Islamic Teachings which has proved to change the mentality of the Muslim Nations from the act of unjust, immorality, and hostility towards each other to be the superior race (khaira umma) and contribute to humanity, justice and prosperity. In regards of the doctrine of jihad, it is often absent of the spirit of ijtihad and mujahadah, thus its impact and acknowledgement is less experienced by neither Muslims nor the whole human race. Preaching is the right choice for fulfilling the mission as khalifatullah in plural societies in the globalization era. By preaching, Muslims can make changes as required by Islam. It is proven that dogmas and Islamic Jihad movements with a qital approach is left behind as compared to Islamic movement which prioritizes the preaching approach. Progress after progress has been made by the missionary movement, while the failures have been experienced by the jihadist movements. History is a wise and yet objective teacher.

Abstract

Plurality is inevitable in Indonesia. Plurality of religions is an asset of Indonesia. Plurality covers various aspects of social and religious life for both are related and inseparable . The socio-religious life has had many variety and is not always associated with positive values based upon the reality in the society. Friction and conflicts also occasionally occur, both among religious followers, and also fellow believers which commonly ends with disagreements. In order to result in positive impacts upon plurality or diversity, a good conflict management is needed. In relation to the establishment of civil society in Indonesia, good conflict management will provide a wide range of sphere for each individual to develop their creativeness and ideas for a better social and religious life.

Abstract

The area managed by YPPII Batu in funding management and religious social assets includes education area, diaconal service and orphanage care. The establishment of YPPII foundation was inspired by the many children who suffer from the violence. The case of Poso led to ± 20 thousand children loset their parents and their future, and so YPPII takes care of some children of Poso riot victims. This study used a qualitative approach in the form of descriptive case studies. Qualitative research emphasizes the researcher as the main instrument of the data collection and analysis.

Abstract

Religious institutions have given much contribution to the society through fund management and social asset. One of the religious institutions is the Church (PAROKI) cathedral in Jakarta. Through the research with a qualitative approach, it is revealed this institution has implemented a system and mechanism for social religious funding management effectively and efficiently, with healthy, transparent and accountable management system. The distribution of collected funds, for the social activities carried out by the church, was done through the Social Section of the Paroki (SSP) or Social-Economic Development (PSE) in the form of charitable/ consumptive aid, and the empowerment of education institutions under the Vincent association. The empowerment through the educational programs are considered successful, because it accomplishes the indicators of empowerment, while another program is merely a stimulant because it was charitable / consumptive.
