Abstract

The meaningless feeling of the female prisoners may give some impacts on their psychological and subjective well-being. The forgivingness is needed so that in the future, the prisoners can feel the happiness physically and mentally to continue their life. The research is aimed at understanding the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners as well as the implications to the counseling guidance. The research applied the qualitative research design with a phenomenology approach. The data sources were from 4 female prisoners who were suitable for the research characteristics. The data analysis technique was Miles and Huberman’s model of qualitative data analysis technique. The results of the research show that the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners were correlated one to another. Both the forgivingness and subjective well-being were built from the surrounding, appearing in various psychological and spiritual responses. Those responses formed perceptions of family acceptance, self-commitment, and life purposes. The research shows that self-perception is very important in the forgivingness and subjective well-being of the female prisoners.

Abstract

Spiritual well-being is one of the causes of the attitude of the elderly in everyday life. These conditions can experience changes depending on how the environment affects them. This study has the purpose of determining the psychological impact of factors caused can affect the condition of the spiritual well-being of the elderly. This study used a phenomenological research design using the research data sources of 2 elderly and five respondents (4 nurses, and one ustadzah) as informants. Data analysis using qualitative data analysis techniques model of Miles, and Huberman. The results of the study showed that spiritual well-being could experience an increase and decrease. This is influenced by several factors such as attention from relatives, full of desires, attention from nurses and elderly colleagues, and the role of religious teachers in assisting the elderly. Increased spiritual well-being is characterized by a cheerful attitude, not easy to complain and more passionate about reciting. Meanwhile, the decline in spiritual well-being often leads to an attitude of despair, anger, and even rebellion.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify and analyze the prediction effects of perfectionism on the career decision self-efficacy and career indecision, career decision self-efficacy on the career indecision and the mediating effect of career decision self-efficacy on the relationship between perfectionism and career indecision. The sample involved 369 high school students selected using random cluster sampling. The research method used is a structural equation model. The results showed that self-oriented perfectionism positively predicted career decision self-efficacy while socially prescribed perfectionism negatively predicted career decision self-efficacy, as well as career decision self-efficacy to predict career indecision. Also, career decision self-efficacy has a mediating effect on the relationship of perfectionism with career indecisions. The implications of the findings of this study are discussed in the article.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of group counseling with stress inoculation training techniques to increase academic distress tolerance through hardiness. This study used a pre-test – post-test control group design involving 14 people who were selected purposively from 70 students. The data analysis technique used is bootstraping. The results showed that group counseling with stress inoculation training techniques proved effective in increasing tolerance of academic distress through hardiness. This finding proves that group counseling stress inoculation training techniques are effective for increasing tolerance of distress through hardiness in students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of group counseling by using cognitive restructuring technique to improve self-efficacy and assertiveness of Junior High School Mardisiswa 2 Semarang who experienced advanced study anxiety. The quasi-experimental method pre-test – post-test design involving 16 students selected by purposive sampling. The result of data analysis showed that there was an enhancement in self-efficacy and assertiveness after the treatment. The acquisition shows that group counseling by using cognitive restructuring technique is effective to improve self-efficacy and assertiveness of students who experience advanced study anxiety.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of vicarious experience and enactive mastery experience group counseling to improve the career decision making self-efficacy of the eleventh-grade students of Public Senior High School 1 Bawang Batang. For more, the method used was an experimental research method with randomized pre-test – post-test comparison group experimental design. Also, the results of one way ANOVA showed that group counseling with vicarious experience and enactive mastery experience techniques was more effective to improve career decision making self-efficacy compared to the group counseling which only used one technique. Therefore, this study contributes to considerations in using vicarious experience and enactive mastery experience as interventions to improve Senior High School students’ career decision making self-efficacy.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group counseling with games and self-talk technique to reduce the communication apprehension of the students of Public Senior High School 1 Keo Tengah. The method used was experimental with the design of randomized pre-test – post-test control group design. Meanwhile, it involved 16 subjects chosen through purposive sampling technique from 70 students. The results showed that games and self-talk techniques were effective to reduce communication apprehension by having group counseling with self-talk technique got higher results of the level of effectiveness than games technique. At last, the implication of this counseling has been discussed in the results and discussion session.

Abstract

Respect attitude must grow among students in a classroom or environment. It is aimed at good communication without distinguishing any differences. This study attempted to examine the effectiveness of group guidance using Film Media and Assignment Technique to develop the respect attitude of the students of Senior High School Gemuh Kendal. The method used was experimental with Randomized Pre-test - post-test comparison group design. This involved as many as 21st Grade Students of Natural Science Department of Senior High School Gemuh Kendal as the subject of the study. Further, the analysis results by using One Way ANOVA showed that the group counseling using film media and assignment technique was effective to develop students’ respect attitude (F = 78.141; p < 0.01). At last, the discussion of the findings of this study was directed at looking at the effectiveness of the film media group guidance and assignment technique group guidance.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of SFBT group counseling on students’ self-concepts. To purse this objective, this study applied One Group pre-test – post-test design to 8 students of Public Senior High School 1 Lemahabang who had low self-concepts. The data of these subjects were collected using Tennese Self Concept Scale (TSCS) instrument and were analyzed using wilcoxon test. The results showed that SFBT group counseling was effective to fully improve the students’ self-concepts, and partially in each aspect of self-concepts, namely individual’s physical, ethical moral, personal, family, social, and self-criticism. At last, the discussion of this article is directed to the review of SFBT effectiveness to improve SMA students’ self-concepts.

Abstract

This research aim was to test the effect of homesickness on social adjustment and happiness, as well as the effects of homesickness mediation with happiness through social adjustment. The samples involve 378 students of Senior High School with the boarding school system selected using random cluster sampling. Structural equation models are used to examine the effect of direct homesickness relationships on happiness and the effect of indirect relationships through social adjustment. The research method used is a structural equation model. The results showed the effect of social adjustment mediation in connecting with homesickness and happiness. Furthermore, homesickness directly can predict social adjustment; homesickness negatively predicts happiness and adjustments to social positively predict happiness. The implications of the research findings are discussed in the article.
