Abstract

This research aims to improve the ability of junior high school students' career planning by using interactive multimedia. The experimental research method used the design of one group pre-test­ and post-test with purposive sampling technique to determine 27 subjects of the Junior High School class IX students. The results of the research were obtained further planning career of class IX students of Public Junior High School 3 Cepu, before using guidance media (pre-test) the mean value was 109.74 with SD 3.84 and an increase in the mean posttest 153.33 with SD 3.12. The results of the t-test show that interactive multimedia is effective to improve the career planning skills of Junior High School students (t(27) = 12.58, p <0.01). This finding confirms that interactive multimedia can be applied to improve Junior High School students? career planning.

Abstract

This study attempted to improve students? counseling interests by using a Web medium in form of Cyber Counseling. To achieve such purpose, this study employed one group pre-test post-test design. Meanwhile, the instrument used to collect the data was counseling interest scale. The subjects of this study were 6 students chosen by purposive sampling technique. The researchers analyzed their data by using wilcoxon non-parametric analysis. The results showed that web-based Cyber Counseling effectively improved students? counseling interests (Z= -2.226, p < 0.05). This result asserts that Cyber Counseling has an implication toward the optimization of counselors? roles and professionalism in the utilization of Cyber Counseling for the development of Information and Technology resources development.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques to reduce the social anxiety of Public Senior High School 3 Pati. The study used an experimental method with the design of randomized pre-test ? post-test comparison group. Meanwhile, there were 24 students of Public Senior High School 3 Pati who experienced social anxiety involved as the subjects of the study. They were divided into three groups, namely group counseling with cognitive restructuring technique, group counseling with self-instruction technique, and group counseling with the combination of cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques. The results showed that cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques were able to reduce social anxiety. The combination of both techniques performed more effective in reducing social anxiety than the partial use, namely cognitive restructuring or self-instruction only. Further, this study for counselors implies that they are suggested to use cognitive behavior therapy group counseling with cognitive restructuring and self-instruction techniques to reduce social anxiety of students. Moreover, the implication of the counseling is discussed in the results and discussion chapter.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and cognitive restructuring techniques to reduce students? academic stress. The study used pre-test and multiple post-test design by involving 14 students of Public Senior High School 1 Semarang. Their data were collected using academic stress scale. Meanwhile, the collected data were analyzed by employing mixed ANOVA statistical test. The results showed that CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and cognitive restructuring techniques were effective to reduce students? academic stress (F(1,12) = 22.591, p < 0.01). These findings assert that CBT group counseling with stress inoculation training and cognitive restructuring techniques is effective to reduce students? academic stress.

Abstract

Counseling will be more effective when a counselor understands the cultural background of clients. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the implementation of REBT counseling that is Javanese culture friendly, especially to the adherents of Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito? teachings. The study belonged to qualitative research on discourse analysis. The main source this study was the master piece work by Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito, namely: Serat Wirid Hidayat Jati, Serat Kalatidha, Serat Sabda Djati, Serat Sabda Tomo, Serat Joko Lodhang, Serat Jayengbaya, Serat Wedharaga. Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito?s teachings always include morals and spirituality in life. Even his teachings became the main character in rationality reasoning, so the rationality is relevant to Javanese culture. The results of this study are expected to be implemented in the practice of REBT counseling with a Javanese culture nuance that is a collaboration between REBT and Raden Ngabehi Ronggowarsito? teachings. At last, these findings enrich theories in the context of multicultural counseling.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze acceptance and commitment therapy counseling and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy counseling to reduce students? school burnout. To do so, the study employed pretest and multiple posttest design by involving 10 students chosen using purposive sampling from 430 students in Public Senior High School 3 Pati (SMA N 3 Pati). Their data were collected using School Burnout Inventory. Further, the results of repeated measure anova showed that acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy counseling were effective to reduce students? school burnout. For more, the discussion in this paper has more focus on the implication of counseling in school practice.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with behavior contract technique to reduce verbal aggressiveness behavior of MTs students in Kudus Regency. The study used a pre-test post-test one group design. The sample of this study was selected through purposive sampling technique. There were 7 students selected to form a group. They received five times treatment in form of group counseling with behavior contract technique. Meanwhile, the researchers used Wilcoxson analysis to analyze the data. Afterwards, the results of this study proved that group counseling with behavior contract technique effectively reduced verbal aggressive behavior (z = -2.366, p = < 0.05).

Abstract

The present study was aimed at finding out the effectiveness of group guidance with sociodrama for improving student's prosocial behavior. This study employed experimental method with one group pretest Posttest design, involving ten students as the members of the group. The analysis result using Wilcoxon test showed that group guidance with sociodrama technique was effective to improve student?s prosocial behavior. The result of the study showed that group guidance in SMP Negeri Kabupaten Pemalang had been planned within guidance and counseling program. However, its implementation was sub-optimal. The present study also found that group guidance with sociodrama is effective for improving student?s prosocial behavior. The discussion of the result of the study is aimed at identifying the implication of group guidance with sociodrama in improving student?s prosocial behavior.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling to improve students? self-compassion. The study used pretest and multiple posttest design. Purposive sampling was used to select 14 experimental subjects which were grouped into two in random or in other words, 7 people for each group. For more, the data collection technique in this study used self-compassion scale-short form (SCS-SF). The results of mixed repeated measures ANOVA showed that strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling was effective to improve self-compassion (F (1.12) = 365.97, p < 0.05). This also could be seen in the effect of time (F (2,24) = 424.98, p < 0.05), and interaction effect between time and group (F (2,24) = 581.59, p < 0.05). These findings assert that strength based intervention motivational interviewing group counseling is effective to improve students? self-compassion.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with Cognitive Behavior Therapy to improve emotion regulation and reduce the anxiety of prisoners of Lapas Perempuan Semarang. The instrument used for this study was emotion regulation scale and anxiety scale. Meanwhile, there were 6 subjects involved in this study. In addition, the study employed pretest and multiple posttest design. The analysis results showed that there was an improvement in emotion regulation, and reduction in anxiety after the group counseling was conducted. These findings showed that group counseling with CBT approach was effective to improve emotion regulation and reduce the prisoners? anxiety. However, in the follow-up assessment, it was found that the prisoners? anxiety tended to improve again, so there was a significant difference in anxiety between pretest and follow-up. At last, the findings of this study provide initial proof that changes in anxiety level are not always in line with emotion regulation.
