Abstract

Alar is a growth regulator that in certain concentrations can inhibit growth, shorten stem segments, strengthen stems to improve the quality of tissue-cultured seedlings. This study aimed to determine the effect of alar and Benzyl Adenin (BA) on banana meristem multiplication. The experiment was conducted in Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Malang. The study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors, namely alar concentration (A0 = 0 mg/l and A1 = 1 mg/l) and BA concentration (B1 = 1 mg/l, B2 = 3 mg/l, B3 = 5 mg/l and B4 = 7 mg/l). Observations were made for 12 weeks of culturing with the observation variables: shoot initiation, number of shoots/explants, number of leaves, and shoot height. The results showed that alar and BA did not significantly affect the development of banana meristems. The use of Alar caused the banana plantlets to be shorter and sturdy, while BA affected the number of shoots produced. BA 1 mg/l was able to increase more shoots.

Abstract

Nugget is one of the foods consumed by numerous people.  In this study, the raw material for nuggets was tempeh and formulated with purslane to obtain nuggets that contain fiber and are low in fat. This research used three treatment formulations of ingredients and purslane: 95%: 5% (NK1); 90%:10% (NK2); 85%:15% (NK3) and control without the addition of purslane.  The treatments have tested for preference. The best sample based on the preference test was then tested for fiber and fat content and compared with the control. The results of the study found that the best treatment based on the preference test was the addition of purslane 1.62% and NK2 1.87%. The fat content of the control nugget was 15.64% and NK2 was 15.02%.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the entrepreneurial potential of diversification of Zingiberaceae products based on local wisdom in Sajoanging Subdistrict, Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. Location determination has been done by the purposive sampling method. The focus of the study was the utilization of Zingiberaceae based on local wisdom. The subject of the study was the local food product processing society. Data collection techniques are done through interviews. Data analysis methods are used qualitatively. The results showed that Zingiberaceae is found in Sajoanging Subdistrict and has entrepreneurial potential namely fesse, onnyi, onnyi pute, likku, temmu, Cekku, fanini and lippujang. The entrepreneurial potential of diversification of Zingiberaceae products based on local wisdom in Sajoanging Subdistrict, Wajo Regency is utilized as a traditional medicinal ingredient, among others used as headache, cough, itchy medicine, stomach pain medicine, internal medicine, and heat reduction. As a traditional cosmetic, namely as a material for making bedda tettu, bedda, lotong and pappisau. As a traditional culinary, it is used in the manufacture of nasu likku, nasu palekko and sarabba. It means that Zingiberaceae can process into various products that have added value and encourage economic growth in the village.

Abstract

Sorghum is a suitable crop grown in dry and nutrient-poor areas. So it is suitable to be developed in dry and marginal land areas. However, in the cultivation of sorghum on dry land and lack of nutrients, it still needs the effort to increase the yield. This study aimed was to determine the response of sorghum plants to the application of Trichoderma sp. and fertilizer dosage. Treatments tested in this study were with the first factor being the application of Trichoderma and the second factor being the fertilizer dose of 50%, 40%, 30%. 20%, 10% and 0%. The results showed that the treatment has no interaction between Trichoderma application and fertilizer dosage. However, the fertilizer dose had a significant effect on all observation parameters. A fertilizer dose of 40% provides the most effective and efficient results to support the growth and production of sorghum plants.

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a commodity of plantation crops that plays a primary role in the Indonesian economy. This study aimed to determine the growth of cocoa beans (Theobroma cacao L.) with different variations in coconut water concentration and length of soaking time. Treatments tested in this study used two levels of treatment. First factor was coconut water concentration (A) consisting of control (0%), (30%), (60%), and (90%). The second factor of soaking time (B) consisted of control (0 hours), (16 hours), (20 hours), (24 hours), and (28 hours). The result showed that combination treatment of coconut water solution 60% + 24-hour soaking showed the best results for all parameters of germination time (day), percentage of germination day 14, length of sprouts day 14, wet weight of sprouts day 14, the height of the plant day 28, wet weight of the 28th-day shoot and wet weight of the root of the 28th day.

Abstract

Red chili pepper ( Capsicum annum L.) was a commodity whose inconsistent supply availability and short storage period. During pandemic covid 19 and PSBB (Large-Scale Social Restrictions), a horticultural commodity must be pursued to have high growth, production, long storage period, and maintain physical and nutritional qualities during distribution. The research aimed to increase chili pepper growth, productivity, and quality with silica fertilizer treatment. The treatments in this experiment were addition silica with concentrations 0% (control), 25% silica, 50 %, and 75% . The results showed that the addition of silica fertilizer (Si) increased the vegetative growth of Chili Pepper plants. Silica fertilization (Si) with a concentration of 50% increased vegetative growth and storage period of chili pepper but did not increase the fruit size and weight of chili pepper.

Abstract

This study aimed was to determine the appropriate application time and dose of mycorrhizae for the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays L.). This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) using two factors with three treatments. The first treatment was application time, M1= 3 days before planting, M2= 6 days before planting, M3= 9 days before planting. The second treatment was mycorrhizal fertilizer, N1 = 1.8 kg/ha, N2 = 3.6 kg/ha, N3 = 5.4 kg/ha and N4 = 7.2 kg/ha . The results showed that the interaction only occurred in plant height parameters 28 days after planting. Furthermore, the number of leaves, stem diameter, cob weight without husk only showed significant results in the single factor mycorrhizal dose treatment, with the best treatment being in the mycorrhizal fertilizer 5.4 kg/ha treatment.

Abstract

Increasing the growth and production of waxy corn can be done by fertilizing. This study examined the effect of N-Leucaena leucocephala and P-rock phosphate enriched manure that was called manure plus, on the growth and production of waxy corn. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) with five treatments and six replicated namely T0 (urea + TSP), T1 (cow manure + urea + TSP), T2 (goat manure + urea + TSP), T3 (cow manure plus), and T4 (goat manure plus) with five treatments and six replicates. Parameters measured were plant height, leaves number, stem diameter, chlorophyll levels, waxy corn production, and dry matter production of stover. The results showed that stem diameter, chlorophyll, waxy corn production, and dry matter production of stover in cow manure plus and goat manure plus was equivalent to cow manure + urea + TSP and goat manure + urea + TSP, respectively. The number of leaves in the goat manure + urea + TSP treatment is higher compared to goat manure plus. However, plant height was not significantly affected by the treatments.

Abstract

The requirements for rice as the staple food in Indonesia tends to increase every year along with the increase in population. As anticipation, an alternative that can be taken is to increase the productivity of carbohydrate-producing crops as the main non-rice food source on dry land. Sorghum is a versatile plant that can be used as a source of food, animal feed, and industrial raw materials. The purpose of this study was to determine the production of 3 varieties of sorghum to reduce the dose of NPK fertilizer. The research was conducted in Sumber Agung Village, Plosoklaten, Kediri Regency in May-August 2020. The research used a factorial randomized block design with the first factor being 3 varieties of sorghum, namely Kawali, Numbu, and Suri 4, the second factor was the dose of NPK fertilizer, which was 100%, 75 %, 50%, 25%, and 0%. The results showed an interaction between sorghum varieties and fertilization doses. Kawali variety only produces maximum if fertilization is 100%, Numbu variety still produces maximum at 50% fertilization and Suri 4 variety can still produce maximum at 25% fertilization.

Abstract

This research aimed to see the effect of the addition of NAA and BA into MS media for the development of cassava micropropagation, furthermore, the composition of the media was appropriate to produce the maximum number of cassava shoots. The study was conducted using a completely randomized factorial design consisting of 2 factors, namely: Factor I: the concentration of Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) consisted of 2 levels, namely: 0 mg / l (N0) and 0.1 mg / l (N1). The second factor was the concentration of Benzyl Adenine (BA) consisting of 4 levels: 1.0 mg / l (B1); 3.0 mg / l (B2); 5.0 mg / l (B3) and 7.0 mg / l (B4). Apply 8 treatment combinations, N0B1; N0B2; N0B3, N0B4, N1B1; N1B2; N1B3; N1B4. Observations were made on the variables: time of shoot initiation, number of shoots, number of leaves, and percentage of live and contaminated explants until the age of 16 weeks after sub-culture. The results showed that there was no interaction between the addition of the auxin hormone NAA and the cytokinin BA into MS medium at the time of shoot initiation, but both hormones could support the number of new shoots and the number of leaves per plantlet. Media without the addition of NAA with the addition of BA 1.0 - 3.0 mg / l was able to initiate new shoots the fastest, namely 7-10 days. The best number of shoots of cassava (4.43 shoots/explant) used MS medium without the addition of NAA with BA 3.0 mg / l for 16 weeks (4 months) of culture.
