Mini Research Based of Learning Material under Theme of Human Respiration System

Abstract

This research aims to find out validity and reliability of mini research based learning material supplement for fifth graders primary school. This research and development (R&D) had stages started from: identifying potency and problem, collecting the data by using questionnaire, observation, interview, pre-test question and post-test, designing product in the form of mini research based learning material under theme respiration system of human as learning supplement with current developed topic about the danger of smoking for human health, validating the design done by media and material experts, revising the design based on judgment, critics, and experts’ advices, and testing the products done at VB graders of Islamic Primary School Ta’allamul Huda Bumiayu. The data was analyzed descriptive qualitatively. The finding showed that the media and the subject content experts giving average score of 3.48 (87%) and 3.94 (98.33%), respectively. Based on the teacher’s judgment, the average score obtained 3.20 (80%) and judgment given by students showed average score 3.82 (95.49%). The judgment from media and subject content experts, teachers, and students showed that the supplement was reliable. The implementation of this product to measure conceptual understanding and showed improvement from 42.54 into 74.77 with N-gain 0.55, categorized as moderate. The students’ attitudes dealing with smoking showed N-gain 0.39, categorized moderate with improvement score from 82.33 into 87.67, categorized to gave negative respons for smoking attitude. The learning material supplement based on mini research under theme human respiration system was valid and reliable to be used as learning materials for fifth graders.

Abstract

Learning environment can influence the development of the academic and psychological abilities of every human being in his life, including children. This study aims to analyze environmental-based learning as a source of learning for children. The research is qualitative research, and it was carried out at the Cerdas Chilhood Education Program in Sukorejo-Kendal. The subjects of the study were the teacher of Cerdas Chilhood Education Program in Sukorejo-Kendal. Data analysis was done using an interactive model. The results of the study showed that the planning of learning in utilizing the environment of RPS (Semester Program), RPPM (Weekly Program), and RPPH (Daily Program). The implementation of learning in using the environment as a learning resource includes the implementation of opening activities, main activities and closing activities. Assessment of learning in utilizing the environment as a learning resource includes checklists, anecdotal notes, and artworks. The environment used as a learning resource starts from planning, implementation, and assessment including three types of environments, namely the natural environment, social environment, and artificial environment. The obstacles in applying environment-based learning as a source of learning are climates and location of Sukorejo village in a mountainous area that have fairly high rainfall intensity so that sometimes the plans that have been made cannot be implemented and assessed. The participation of parents, teachers, students, and the community is needed to carry out maximum environment-based learning.
The Effect of The STAD Learning Model Aided by Students Worksheet to Improve Critical Thinking Skills of Students

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of critical thinking skills of students before and after the implementation of STAD learning models assisted by Students worksheet to analyze the effect of STAD learning models assisted by Students worksheet (LKPD) on critical thinking skills. This study was Quasi-experimental research. The population of this study was grade IV students of Diponegoro Cluster in Brebes District consisting of 203 students. Samples were taken by random sampling technique, a total of 60 students. The data of this study were obtained from tests and observations. Data were analysed using t-test analysis. The results showed that there was an increase in critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the STAD learning model assisted by Students worksheet with a score of 10.55 and Sig, of 0.000. There is an effect of the STAD Learning Model by Students worksheet on students' critical thinking skills with at value of 7.18 and a Sig of 0.000. It can be concluded that there is a positif influence of the ability of students to think critically, before and after the STAD learning. The worksheet-assisted STAD learning models can improve critical thinking skills of students significantly.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and describe the characters that can be developed in Pancasila and citizenship education. The research method used descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological design. The research subjects were the principal, teachers, and students. data analysis used Miles and Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, display data and conclusions or verification. The results of the research showed that the learning implementation strategy of the Pancasila and citizenship education through habituation, communication, and role models which can develop religious, nationalist, independent, cooperation and integrity characters was very well in every process of teaching and learning in the classroom. Supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of Pancasila and citizenship education with character development include; supporting factors due to the existence of learning tools, the cooperation of the teacher component, the existence of student independence in every teaching and learning activity. The inhibiting factor was due to a number of learning tools could not provided in learning, many students in the classroom can hamper the process of teaching and learning activities in classroom.

Abstract

Based on the data from (klinikautis.com), the number of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Indonesia increases by up to 134.000. Therefore, the government established a special program to take care of ASD children, namely Autism Service Center (ASC). ASC is a place for children who have psychological and physical disorders to get special education. The results of observation shows that many ASD children of Early Childhood Education in Blitar City were not handled well. The research aims to describe and analyze more deeply about the ASC program management as well as the inhibiting and supporting factors in the implementation of the ASC program in Blitar City. This research applied a qualitative research approach with a case study design. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and document study. The subjects of this research were the head of the ASC, educators/therapists, program implementing assistants, and students and their parents. Source and method triangulation were applied to check the validity. The data analysis was done through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the management which consisted of planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling had been carried out systematically and efficiently. The inhibiting factors in the implementation of the program were parents who were less disciplined in selecting dietary for their children, home program was not run properly, and the time span of therapy was very short. Whereas the supporting factors were the supports from other agencies for the ASC program, the educators/therapists were capable in their field of expertise, and parents’ active-participation in parenting to increase their knowledge in taking care of ASD children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and to describe the planning, organizing, implementing and supervising of the integrative holistic early childhood education garden program at Marsudirini Fioretti Kindergarten. This research used qualitative method and study case approach. The data resources were obtained from the mentors who were the headmaster of the kindergarten, teachers, and parents. The techniques of data collections were observation, interview and documentation. Integrative holistic garden at early childhood education is a program of growth and development services combined to meet the nutritional intake which is in accordance with the stage of age development of the child as an effort to support the independency of institutions and learning laboratories for children. The results of this study are that the planning for the integrative holistic garden at early childhood education is quite good with the preparation of the plantation program, funding and development of sub-activity plans, but organizing part is less effective in the distribution of tasks and setting schedules, for that, the implementation of direction, motivation and coordination needs to be done as well as the preparation for facilities. So that, the integrative holistic garden program could be more effective. The garden supervision from Marsudrini Kindergarten and related government regarding the program has been carried out but there is still a lack of follow-up in the form of guidance that is necessary in the management of garden products for the fulfillment of children's nutrition, supporting the independency of institutions and learning laboratories for children.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze e-learning activities at SDIT Future Islamic School (FIS) Pekanbaru. The subject and sample of the research used science teacher class VI and students of SDIT FIS Pekanbaru class VI A and B totaling 30 people. The study is a qualitative research with descriptive approach. The technique used in this study is observation and interviews, while the research instrument used field notes in the form of observations of e-learning activities and free-tied interview sheets. The data of e-learning activities provide from observations were student activities, such as writing, speaking, listening, observing, motoric skills, and mental activities such as activity that requires knowledge construction asking students to interpret, analyze, synthesize, or evaluate information or ideas when answering practice questions. Student activities are series of implementation of e-learning that technology in education. The results of interviews and observations show that the implementation of e-learning model were two modes. They were by using blended models and asynchronous methods in the application of mixing conventional learning (meeting in class) by utilizing technology to display subject matter offline. The implementation of e-learning in this school utilizes computer technology, LCDs, and speakers as a tool to deliver teaching materials to students. The e-learning implementation carried out in the learning process, included use of technology to display learning material, learning information, and also the students work results. The hardware such as laptop, LCD, and loudspeakers used by teachers and students to display information related to decay and weathering topics in the form of videos and pictures on natural science subjects. E-learning activities provide benefits to students and teachers in understanding the concept of subject matter that is packaged by the teacher in an exciting and informative manner.
Analysis of Quantum Learning Model with Peer Assessment on Achievement Student’s Critical Thinking Skill in Mathematics

Abstract

This research aims to analyze mathematics critical thinking of students on Quantum Learning model with Peer Assessment. This mixed method with sequential explanatory took fifth graders of whole Mayong district, Jepara municipal, in academic year 2018/2019 as the population. The sample consisted of chosen classes: VA and VB. The subjects were six VA students chosen based on three critical thinking groups: high, moderate, and poor. The techniques of collecting data used mathematics critical thinking skill test, peer assessment observation, and interview. The findings showed that Quantum Learning model learning with Peer Assessment was effective to improve mathematics critical thinking skill. On high group category students, they could meet all indicators well. The moderate group students had not been able to meet an indicator, the evaluation. The poor group category students had two unfulfilled indicators, namely evaluation and explanation. Based on the data obtained, it can be concluded that the quantum learning model with peer assessment is effective in improving student’s critical thinking skill in mathematics.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the Monopoly media learning media on the ability of understanding the place value with two digit numbersand the results of thematic learning in grade 1 elementary school students. The subjects of this study were grade 1 students at SD Negeri Tegalsari 01 and class B which has 24 students acted as the control group. This study was used quasi experimental design method with nonequivalent control group design. The results of the study on the understanding ability towards the place value with two digit numbersand thematic learning outcomes show the average score of initial test scores in the experimental group is 7.13 and the control group is 7.34. Meanwhile, for the average score of final test scores in the experimental group is 8.09 and the control group is 7.50. Based on these results, it appears that the Monopoly media can effectively improve the learning outcomes of the control group by marked enhancement in these results. The conclusion of this research is that the use of Monopoly game as learning media can effectively improve the results of thematic learning on the lesson of recognizing the living and non-living objects around us and explain the value of the place consisting two numbers. In addition, Monopoly can effectively influence the understanding of the place value with two digit numbers. From the results of this study, it is recommended for teachers to use Monopoly as media in the learning process.
Creative Mathematical Thinking Ability in Creative Problem Solving Model Viewed from Gender

Abstract

Mathematical creative thinking ability in problem solving becomes the requirement of mathematics education recently in order to find many ideas and new solution so that the issues can be resolved appropriately. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning in achieving the student’s creative mathematical thinking ability and their ability viewed from gender. This study used a mixed method design with concurrent embedded design by conducting quasi experimental design on quantitative method and Miles-Hubberman model to analyzed qualitative data. The first stage was quantitative data collection, and it was done using tests (essay). The next stage was qualitative data collection, and it was done using triangulation techniques such as tests and interviews. The study population was the grade VII SMP IT Bina Amal Semarang. Samples were grade VII Thoriq and VII Aisyah as an experimental class and grade VII Amru and VII Asma ' as the control class. Data analysis in qualitative research follows the concept given by Miles & Huberman are data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Analysis of quantitative research includes analysis of the achievement aspects of mathematical creative thinking abilities. Quantitative data analysis includes a normality test, homogeneity tests, completeness tests, right-side tests, and average similarity test. The result of this study shown that CPS learning model effectively improved the ability of creative thinking viewed from gender, this is indicated by the mathematical creative thinking ability of the experimental class students reaches the minimal past score, the mathematical creative thinking ability of the experimental class students is better than of the control class, the mathematical creative thinking ability of female students are better than male on elaboration and flexibility indicators, whereas the mathematical creative thinking ability of male students are better than female on fluency and originality indicators. Based on the results, it can be concluded that CPS learning can improve student’s creative thinking abilities and different achievement between male and female students.
