Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive field research which examines the Principal’s Strategic Management Based on SWOT Analysis at the Islamic Junior High School ‘Ishlahul Muslimin’ in Senteluk, West Lombok. Data is collected through through observations, interviews, and documentation which is then analysed through data reduction, data display, and verification. The reseach subjects are the chairman of the school committee, the headmaster, the vice principals (curriculu affai; student affairs; public relations, facilities and infrastructure affairs) and teachers. This research aims to (1) describe the procedure of the MTs Ishlahul Muslimin’s Principal’s Strategic Management, (2) identify the implementation of SWOT analysis at MTs Ishlahul Muslimin Senteluk Lombok Barat, and (3) identify the internal and external factors related to MTs Ishlahul Muslimin’s program implementation. The results of this study indicate that : (a) the principal’s Strategic Management is considered to be innovative and flexible, (b) the implementation of SWOT analysis at MTs Ishlahul Muslimin Senteluk Lombok Barat has three phases: strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation, and (c) the internal factors related to the program implementation at MTs Ishlahul Muslimin are learner analysis, educators analysis and curriculum analysis. The external factors include the analysis of the social environment of the community and the analysis of the role of government.

Abstract

This study tries to reveal on how The Qur’an Surah al-'Asr could be interpreted to describe the principles of behaviors required in managing organizations without corruption, what causes failure in organizing process, and an alternative solution for managing the organization to avoid corruption. This is a library research with the primary source taken from the Qur’an Surah Al-Ashr: 1-3, the secondary sources were taken from other verses that is related in the Qur'an, related hadith of the Prophet Muhammad and the books of tafsir, while the tertiary sources are taken from books or writings that have relevance to the problem of research. This qualitative research uses Tahlili interpretation approach with inductive and interpretative method. The results of this study shows that the success of an organization without corruption built on three principles of behaviors, they are to build a work ethic commitment to organize effectively and efficiently based on faith, to run the organization professionally, open to accept and provide truth-based criticism and patience. On the other hand, the cause of the failure to organize is not carrying out their obligations, unfairness that resulting in cheating, corruption and dishonest/hypocritical.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyse the implementation of the curriculum management of Islamic education subject for students with special needs in SLB Al Azhar , Bukittinggi. This research used qualitative approach. The data was collected through observation and interview with Islamic education teachers, the curriculum vice principal for curriculum affairs and the head master of the school. The result showed that 1) The curriculum is designed by the vice principal for curriculum affairs and the Islamic education teachers by providing syllabus and daily instructional plan appropriate for all types of disabilities in SLB Al Azhar Bukittinggi. 2) the curriculum is implemented by teacher in instructional process by adjusting the material with the lowest types of disabilities in the class, 3) the assessment is conducted through teaching-learning evaluation and assignment given to students with disabilities. However, some teachers still have difficulties in teaching due to the lack of educational background related to special education.

Abstract

The Council of Ta’lim is a non-formal educational institution managed by a community and contributes to the development of human resource particulary in terms of religious teaching. The research aims to study various activities carried out in the Council of Ta’lim of Jamiyyatul Ummahat South Jakarta toward the improvement of its human resources. This research applies qualitative methods using case study approach. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation and then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model analysis. The results showed that the human resources in the Council are improved through a number of activities, such as coaching activities for leaders and managers, trainings and educational competitions. These activities have indirectly contributed to the improvement of human resources as well as increased the community participation.

Abstract

Pesantren is an Islamic educational institution that excels in Islamic learning and education. However, these advantages do not lead to the life endurance of the pesantren, especially after the death of the founder. The orientation shift from the management based on the founder of Pesantren to a systemic approach pesantren management requires a comprehensive planning. This research was conducted to describe and analyze the pesantren’s planning pattern and the factors influencing the development of pesantren. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The source of the data were Kiai, teachers, and the board of Pesantren. Data was collected through observations and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the pesanteren’s planning was carried out through several stages i.e., vision formulation, human resource preparation, vision operationalization, program implementation, and supervision. While the factors that inlfuenced the pesantren’s vision development are internal factor i.e., the leadership and management of the pesantren, and external factor i.e., government and society.

Abstract

This research was conducted to study the management of assets in Islamic educational institutions. Financial assets and human resources management are the key component needs to be managed professionally in order to produce qualified educational output in PPPA Daarul Qur'an, Yogyakarta branch. This is a descriptive qualitative research in which data were collected through interviews, documentation and observations. The results showed that: 1) wealth management of PPPA Daarul Qur'an Yogyakarta branch is carried out using the systemic-communicative concept. 2) analysed by Robert T. Kiyosaki quadrant, Non-human asset management in the form of fund management can be categorised as Sd (Student Donation) which comes from donors; Business that comes from the businesses owned by Daarul Qur'an; and Gd (Government and private donation) derived from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program of several companies. The management was conducted through the principle of transparency, public accountability, efficiency and effectiveness. While human resource management refers to operational functions in the form of procurement, development, integration, maintenance, and separation. The implementation of wealth management can improve the quality of asset management in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the educational management based on fitrah in Kindergarten (TK) ‘Adzkia’ Banjarnegara. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data sources are obtained through observation, interviews and documentation involving the principal, teachers and the guardians of the students. The results of the research showed that the educational management based on fitrah in TK Adzkia Banjarnegara is implemented by developing the character of ideal exemplary, logical reasoning and creativity, leadership and entrepreneurship. There are 18 Adzkia attitudes that are internalized in the process of education, namely respect, honesty, quality, cleanliness, affection, patience, love, sincerity, discipline, responsibility, devotion, diligence, positive thinking, hospitality, modesty, Qonaah, Taqwa and Istiqomah. These attitudes were developed with fitrah-based education that includes individual, social, societal, logical, learning, and physical development. The inculcation of attitudes and fitrah is carried out by applying Beyond Centers and Circle Time (BCCT) method, stimulating multiple intelligences, implementing Emotional-Spiritual Quotions and Neuroscience ideas. The implementation of educational management based on fitrah is supported by the Education Office, local government, school committee and parents. However, some parents do not have complete understanding of the fitrah-based education thereby the learner’s potential has not appeared to the fullest.

Abstract

The managerial expertise possessed by school principal, such as the ability to lead, to actuate, to plan and to interact with his/her subordinates is a major factor in achieving the success of the planned programs. School principals should be able to develop a high level of cooperation and work ethic among their subordinates. This article aims to analyse the types of school principal’s managerial expertise and the work ethihc of the teaching staff at State Senior High School 2 Lhoknga, Aceh Besar. The qualitative data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The result shows that the managerial expertises of the principal of State Senior High School 2 Lhoknga includes skills as educator, manager, administrator, supervisor, leader and motivator. The implementation of the expertise went well in accordance with the existing duties, from the planning to the evaluation process. However, the work ethic of the teaching staff has not been running optimally due to two factors, i.e., (1) internal factor which relates to cultural diversity and various; educational-economy-social background; and (2)External factor which relates to wages, work climate, inculcation of attitudes, and time owned by the educational staff.

Abstract

The implementation of School-based management in SMP N 2 Bokan Kelupauan, Kabupaten Banggai Laut Sulawesi Tengah encounters a number of problems. One of which is due to the isolated site of the school. This qualitative study describes the implementation of school based management in SMP N 2 Bokan kepulauan which is located in the outer border of Indonesia. Research data was gathered through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the school based management in the school has not run effectively. The most significant problems that hinder the success of the implementation were incompetent human resources and the lack of society’s participation.

Abstract

Financial management constitutes a crucial element in the performance of the entire programs and activities within an institution. This research was conducted to study financial management practices in Early Childhood Education institution namely TK Ceria Demanagn Baru Yogyakarta through the perspective of wealth management. This research is a descriptive qualitative in which data were collected through interviews and documentations. The results showed that, 1) TK Ceria Demangan Baru managed its financial resources by setting aside students’ contributions for savings funds. This will be used for purposes outside of planned financial arrangement, 2) analysed through the perspective of wealth management, the institution’s financial Management is situated in "Sd" (Student Donation) or equivalent to "E" (employees) within the Cashflow Quadrant. The actual financial management is carried out by first, conducting annual financial planning done at the beginning of each year, implementing the financial planning in all the institution’s programs and activities, recording the implementation, reporting the implementation to the foundation board, and evaluating the implementation. In addition, the implementation of the financial management is carried out by considering the principles of transparency, public accountability, effectiveness and efficiency. Meanwhile, institutional fund obtained merely from students’ contribution reduces the quantity of institutional financial income.
