Abstract

Ball valve is one type of rotary motion valve. Ball valve functions as a round disc-shaped ball-like controller. Ball valve is widely used because it is easy to repair and the ability in high pressure and high temperature. The fluid flow in the ball valve does not always flow, sometimes the flow is closed. This will affect the fluid pressure in the valve. Fluid pressure is also affected due to valve open condition. This study aims to analyze the difference of the fluid pressure in ball valve -4 inch ANSI during closed condition and open condition. The method used is Computational Fluid Dynamics with f Flow Simulation Solidworks software. The analysis was performed for two valve conditions with a temperature of 425 °C. Decrease in pressure does not significantly affect the condition of the ball valve, even when the temperature of the fluid is high. The difference of fluid pressure between full closed condition and full open is only 0.01 psi.

Abstract

The depletion of petroleum reserves makes the emergence of a variety of alternative energy, one of which is Biodiesel. Biodiesel is a fatty acid ester derived from vegetable oil or animal by transesterification or esterification reaction. The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of fuel mixture of biodiesel jelantah with heating 950C to power, torque and Sfc. The test is done by loading the lamp load from 200 - 3200 watt on variation of biodiesel fuel volume by 30%, 40% and 50%. The research method used is descriptive analysis where the result of research is described and described based on research result. From the test results resulted in the addition of biodiesel jelantah fuel effect on power, torque and Sfc generated diesel motor.

Abstract

5083 series aluminum magnesium is widely used for marine industrial. It is caused aluminum has high specific strength and good corrosion resistance. However, at process of welding many of porosity occured in the aluminum and it decrease the mechanical properties especially in HAZ (Heat Affected Zone). At casting process of aluminum, porosity could reduce by giving vibration. So, this method is tried to be applicated for welding of aluminum due to welding is a miniature of casting. Tensile test, hardness test, metallography test, and image analysis are technique to characterize the effect. As a result, vibration is not really affected the amount of porosity that occurred. But for hardness it is influenced especially for ER 4043 filler where the vibrated specimens have a higher hardness. The higher average result of tensile test for ER 5356 filler obtained at unvibrated specimens with the value is 231 MPa and for ER 4043 filler the higher average result obtained at vibrated specimen, the value is 226 MPa.

Abstract

The quality of mass produced lab stools are determined based on the similarity of shape andsize of the labs stools produced. Assembly work is done by two technicians for 55 minuteswithout using assembly tools (Fixture). Based on this data, it can be inferred that in termsof working time assembly  process is considered too long or inefficient in terms of time.Based on the amount of labor it is still not efficient or the productivity is still low, so theremust be innovations made to speed up the assembly time. in addition to low productivity,without assembly tools and welding the product is not similiar because there is a change ofshape  after  welding  process.  It  means  the  quality  of  the  product  is  not  good. Businesscompetition in the field of metal furniture manufacture is growing so that producers have tothink of methods to improve productivity, quality and speed up production time. To increaseproductivity,  it  is  necessary  to  assemble  and  fix  the  parts  to  be  assembled to  eliminateunwanted  movement  due  to  the  welding  distortion. The  use  of  fixtures  in  the  assemblyprocess can be done by one person with an average processing time of 25 minutes.

Abstract

Existence of constraints increases difficulty in choosing the right goods for a seller. Indeed, the seller wants to optimize the profit gained. Due to limitation of capital and maximum capacity, the seller needs a certain strategy to do the selection. Moreover the fact that each goods has its own probability to sell makes the problem becomes more complex. In this paper, the problem is solved using genetic algorithm. The result of simulation is in a good agreement with analytical solution. The simulation of N-goods selection is also given in the paper.

Abstract

Tailor-welded blank (TWB) structure is one of the vehicle component models used in vehicle parts. In addition, these structures can be used in crashworthiess technology which can reduce injuries during a collision.. The structure of a vehicle that has greater strength can cause passengers to be thrown from the passenger compartment. This paper discusses the effect of faceted holes such as square, hexagonal and octagonal as crush initiator mounted on TWB which results in a maximum impact force (Fmax). The smallest maximum impact force is the criteria achieved from this study. The method used experimental quasi-static loading of the actuator speed of 0.5 mm/s to achieve 9.5 mm of deformation. TWB was made from plate formation with a process of stamping to spot weld. The result showed that the maximum impact force has an increase directly proportional to the addition of the shape of the crush initiator in the amount of 14.633 kN to 18.705 kN. From these results, it can be seen a square hole as best design in obtaining the smallest maximum impact force.

Abstract

In the industrialized world are required to review hearts always improving performance boost produced by industry, then the findings from the on lead or not separated from the machine using the tools the process piping systems hearts products in produced. Research shows that more big diameter pipes which are used then branching coefficient Tee losses small increasingly is 0.2703 m, 0.17879 m and 0.0753 m, so that the debit value increase branching out Namely 16.8 liter / min, 17, 2 liters / min and 17.4 liters / min. The high Reynolds number variation on lead with diameter test sections, resulting in decreased total loss coefficient, (Re) 43 823, 39 985, 32719.8 And Htot 6.1667, 17.2, 17437. The increase in the Reynolds number (Re) will affect against losses pressure (h) at every connection.

Abstract

One of the areas that often become a source of traffic jam is road intersection. So it will be crucial to manage the intersection. Every intersection in main road is common to have traffic light and every cycle of the lamp, red, green and orange, will influence the traffic. The traffic cycle will have significant role to decrease or increase effects of the problem. Inappropriate regulation for the intersection can cause traffic jam or a heavy traffic jam in the road. Sometimes every intersection needs different rule based on the traffic condition. Therefore is truly needed to manage the traffic light in every intersection. With the simulation we can know whether the rule for the traffic light has appropriated to the intersection's traffic condition. If the rule is not optimal yet, we can change the rule with the optimal one. In the research, two methods are used, using coupling parameter and without coupling parameter. Average of vehicle Arrival in each intersection is used as coupling parameter. As its result, using coupling parameter is better than without using coupling parameter.
