Abstract

This study aimed is to develop a model of coastal zone management that would be best to solve the problems. This study also to identify the bio-physical, social economic conditions of the coastal, and mangrove forests in the area. Using the dynamic system modeling version 2.5, the reseacher found several important conclusion. First, the potential of the coastal areas could be developed in a integrated system. It is based on the consideration that the results of the simulation model through dynamic systems showed changes in the condition of mangrove forests and socio-economic conditions of society. Second, institutional support and infrastructure are also needed for the management of mangrove forests. Local government needs to manage the coastal in a integration manner from all component and it has supported by regulation of local government itself.

Abstract

The research is aimed at finding out the information about the effect of environmental leadership and head of villages’ knowledge about conservation on their ability in managing environment. An expost facto method has been applied by involving n = 250 of heads of village in Nusa Tenggara Timur Province. Design of this research was 2 x 2 factorial design. Data has been analyzed by applying two-way ANOVA. The research result reveal that there is environmental management ability difference between heads of village with transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style. There is high ability in managing environment in the group of head of village who have high knowledge about conservation and transformational leadership style rather than transactional leadership style. There is low ability in managing environment in the group of head of village who have low knowledge about conservation and transactional leadership style rather than transformational leadership style. It is found that there is a significant interaction effect between environmental leadership and head of villages’ knowledge about conservation on their ability in managing environment. It could be concluded that if ability in managing environment could be improved, environmental leadership could be enhanced by considering knowledge about conservation. It doesn’t guarantee that the transformational leadership style would be able to improve heads of village ability in managing environment, however it depends on their knowledge about conservation as well.

Abstract

The environmental crisis that occurred in late sourced from the mistakes of human behavior to the views and error nature exploration. The efforts made by some countries to address the environmental issues have been integrated in education. But the school still experiencing problems on the biology subject-based environmental issues. It is therefore necessary materials specifically to increase students' knowledge about the basic concepts of ecology. A Research and Development of teaching materials is based on the Borg and Gall (1983), but refers to the design of Dick and Carey (2009), involving 33 students of class XI IPA SMAN 86 Bintaro, South- Jakarta, as an experimental class and class XI IPA, SMAN 39 Cijantung East-Jakarta, as the control class. There are two biological development of teaching materials developed. There are five t-tests to verify the biological development of teaching materials based on environmental issues. Research results indicated that there is a significant difference between mean of gain score obtained from post-test and pre-test at experiment group compared to control group. Then the development of teaching materials based biology to environmental issues can be disseminated to the students' knowledge of the basic concepts of ecology.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the availability of green open space (GOS) in the long run by prediction as a result of the increase of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and to choose an appropriate scenario to fulfil the availability of GOS, through system dynamic modeling in Jakarta. The modeling of system dynamic with regard to GOS and GRDP, data collection of secondary data and primary data through interpretation of satellite image is expected to solve the problem of the availability of GOS. Based on simulation scenario, the result of the research showed that the availability of GOS became lesser year by year as a result of the increase of GRDP. In order to secure the availability of GOS accordingly with the regulatiaon of Space Management, the scenario that should be executed is the very optimistic scenario.

Abstract

This study is aimed at finding out whether fishermen quality of life would differ if their expectation toward hierarchical needs such as physiological, safety, love belonging, self esteem, and self-actualization, differ also based on they put differently as priority. A survey method used by involving 73 fishermen as a sample. Two instruments were measuring quality of life and Maslow’s Needs. Instruments reliability are high and data analysed by correlational analysis, chi square, and verify by applying F and t-test. Research results show that around 80% of fishermen put physiological needs as the most priority, but not followed by safety need. It has been followed by love belonging as second priority, then safety, self-esteem, finally self-actualization. It is also found that there is no significant differences of quality of life between fishermen expectation, whether they put needs as priority or not. It could be concluded that fishermen expectation toward their needs can not be used in analysing the effect of needs on quality of life and needs are not a good predictor as well. The surprising finding is that fishermen from this area put belonging as a second hierarchy.
