Abstract

Conventional chemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) can generate hazardous waste, encouraging the development of greener alternatives such as green synthesis using natural materials. This study analyzes the formation and characteristics of AgNPs from soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata L.) which function as reducing and stabilizing agents. Secondary metabolites in soursop leaves include tannins, flavonoids, saponins, and alkaloids, which contribute to the reduction of silver ions. The research involved ethanol maceration extraction, phytochemical screening, nanoparticles synthesis using an extract to AgNO₃ ratio of 1:20 at 600C for 1–2 hours, and characterization by UV–Vis and FTIR spectroscopy. A color change to dark brown confirmed nanoparticle formation. UV–Vis analysis showed an SPR peak around 390 nm, indicating small and stable particles. The functional groups in the FTIR results indicate involvement in reduction and stabilization. Overall, green synthesis using soursop leaf extract was successful and shows promise for biomedical applications.

Abstract

We first study Hilbert–Schmidt operators between non-separable Hilbert spaces. We employ concepts such as summable families in normed spaces, the packet summation theorem, and Hilbert bases. We define Hilbert–Schmidt operators and investigate the structure of the Hilbert space (HS(X,Y)), establishing its relationship with the spaces of compact operators (CO(X,Y)), finite-rank operators (F_i(X,Y)), and continuous linear operators (LC(X,Y)). We then consider particular classes of Hilbert–Schmidt operators on the space of almost periodic functions  where. Finally, we establish a spectral representation theorem for compact Hermitian operators on non-separable Hilbert spaces, extending the well-known result for separable Hilbert spaces.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder with a rapidly increasing global prevalence. The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of volatile compounds from microalgae Parachlorella kessleri AUP5 as potential α-amylase inhibitors through in silico approach. Analysis of the similarity of the drug was carried out with the Swiss ADME on the basis of Lipinski rule of five. Molecular screening was performed using Molecular Operating Environment (MOE). The volatile compounds with the highest inhibitor potential toward α-amylase is 9,12-octadecadienoic acid with a docking score of −6.215 kcal/mol. The compound interacted with key amino acid residues such as Ala198, His201, Ile235 and Asp195 at the enzyme binding site. The results indicated that 9,12-octadecadienoic acid from Parachlorella kessleri AUP5 has the greatest potential as a potential α-amylase inhibitors. However, more research is required to validate the results of these computational predictions.

Abstract

In this study, co-precipitation method was employed to successfully synthesize a ternary NiO-Fe2O3-CuO nanocomposite, which was then utilized for the photocatalytic degradation of the methylene blue dye. The XRD confirmed the presence of the NiO, Fe2O3, and CuO phases, with an average crystallite size are 17.18 nm, 22.29 nm, and 27.46 nm respectively. The SEM images confirmed the shape of the NiO-Fe2O3-CuO nanocomposite, which were found to be irregular spherical agglomerated structures. The EDX spectra showed strong peaks of Ni, Fe, and Cu. The NiO-Fe2O3-CuO nanocomposite has a band gap of 2.92 eV. The photocatalytic activity of the NiO-Fe2O3-CuO nanocomposite against the methylene blue dye exhibited high degradation efficiency, reaching 98.56% within 60 minutes. Based on the results, the prepared nanocomposites showed potential as a photocatalyst for wastewater treatment.

Abstract

Digital attendance systems are vulnerable to anomalous behaviors that may reduce attendance integrity and reliability. This study proposes an anomaly detection approach using Isolation Forest optimized with a Genetic Algorithm to improve anomaly detection performance in digital attendance environments. The proposed model utilizes behavioral features, including location, device consistency, network connectivity, and working duration. Experimental evaluation using Stratified 5-Fold Cross Validation demonstrates that the GA Hybrid approach significantly improves model performance, increasing the F1-score from 0.2934 to 0.6004 and recall from 0.1791 to 0.4345 while maintaining high precision. Feature analysis further reveals that location-based attributes are the most influential indicators in detecting anomalous attendance behavior. The results indicate that the proposed optimization approach can improve anomaly detection effectiveness while maintaining stable model performance.

Abstract

Drought poses severe risks to agricultural sustainability in climate-vulnerable regions. This study compares AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Fuzzy Time Series–Markov Chain (FTS-MC) models for multi-timescale Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) forecasting in the Slahung sub-watershed, East Java. Historical monthly rainfall data were transformed into SPI series to model seasonal behaviors and uncertainty transitions. Evaluated via Mean Squared Error (MSE), ARIMA demonstrated superior numerical accuracy in capturing temporal and seasonal trends. Conversely, FTS-MC provided complementary probabilistic insights into drought state transitions under high climatic variability. Integrating these deterministic and probabilistic approaches enhances drought-prediction robustness, offering water resource managers a comprehensive framework for climate risk mitigation.

Abstract

Shallow groundwater is the primary source of freshwater in coastal areas and small islands, but is highly vulnerable to seawater intrusion. This study aimed to determine the hydrogeochemical characteristics of shallow groundwater and the extent of seawater intrusion in the study area. Groundwater samples from 16 dug wells were analyzed for physicochemical properties, while seawater intrusion and hydrochemical facies were evaluated using the Revelle Index (RI) and Piper diagram, respectively. The results revealed groundwater ranging from freshwater in inland areas to brackish and saline water near the coast, with some samples exceeding domestic water quality standards. Elevated total dissolved solids (TDS), electrical conductivity (EC), salinity, iron (Fe), and manganese (Mn) were associated with reducing conditions, organic-rich sediments, and seawater mixing. The Revelle Index (RI) indicated moderate to high intrusion, particularly in coastal areas. Groundwater was dominated by the Na(K)-Cl(SO₄) facies, reflecting the combined influence of seawater intrusion and water-rock interaction.

Abstract

Bacterial resistance to synthetic antibiotics has intensified the need for natural antimicrobial alternatives. This study evaluated the antibacterial activity of 96% ethanolic extract of celery stalk (Apium graveolens var. dulce) against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli using the broth dilution method. The extract was prepared by stepwise maceration in 96% ethanol at a 1:10 crude-to-solvent ratio (6 h with agitation, 18 h standing, followed by re-maceration 3×24 h). Concentrations tested were 3.125%, 6.25%, 12.50%, 25%, and 50%, with Ciprofloxacin (6.5 µg/µL) as positive control and 96% ethanol as negative control. Growth inhibition of S. aureus was detected at 50% (ΔAOD = −0.35), while inhibition of E. coli was observed at 25% (ΔAOD = −0.24) and 50% (ΔAOD = −0.093). Minimum bactericidal concentration testing confirmed bacteriostatic activity across all concentrations. These findings indicate that 96% ethanolic extract of celery stalk possesses concentration-dependent bacteriostatic potential against both bacterial species.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the method of controlling rat pests on rice plants, compare costs between methods, and identify problems faced by farmers in the Asa Tamara Farmers Group, Babirik District, North Hulu Sungai Regency. The study used the purposive sampling method on 8 respondents who met certain criteria. The results of the study showed that the rat pest control methods used included Petrokum-type rodenticides, rat traps, and gropyokan. The most widely used method is the Petrokum rodenticide, while the least used is rat trap. The gropyokan method is known as the method that requires the highest cost. The total cost of control for an area of 13.5 hectares is IDR 16,975,000,- with implicit cost details of IDR 11,220,000 and explicit costs of IDR 5,755,000,-. The problems faced by farmers are lack of synchronization of control and planting time, low coordination between farmers, flooded and uneven land conditions, rat resistance to toxins, and lack of monitoring and delays in the implementation of control.

Abstract

Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) overexpression contributes to breast cancer progression, while the effectiveness of lapatinib is often limited by drug resistance. This study evaluated the inhibitory potential of benzoylated quercetin derivatives against HER2 (PDB ID: 3PP0) using molecular docking. Docking validation yielded an RMSD of 0.902 Å, confirming the reliability of the protocol. Drug-likeness and pharmacokinetic properties were assessed using Lipinski’s Rule of Five and pkCSM-based ADMET prediction. Among the tested compounds, BCL23, BCL4, and BCL12 exhibited stronger binding affinities than lapatinib. They interacted with key HER2 active-site residues, including LEU726, VAL734, LEU785, THR798, CYS805, MET801, and LEU852. BCL23 satisfied all Lipinski criteria and showed favorable ADMET characteristics. These findings indicate that benzoylated quercetin derivatives, particularly BCL23, are promising HER2 inhibitors and potential candidates for breast cancer therapy.
