Abstract

The reseacrh about identification and assay of sodium benzoate content in fine milled chilli taken from three locations which were Pasar  Ibuh Payakumbuh, Pasar Bawah Bukittinggi  and  Pasar Raya Padang had been done, two samples were taken from each location. It was found that three samples gave positive indication by esterification reaction to the presence of sodium benzoate in samples. Assay of sodium benzoate in samples after extraction with ether as a solvent were carried out using ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The benzoic acid content of the positive samples were found to be in the range of 0.811-0.976 g/kg. This amount of benzoic acid content fine milled chilli samples were below the maximum amount allowedaccording to the rule  stated by to National Agency of Drug and Food Control Republic of Indonesia No. 36/2013 which was 1 g/kg, so it was safe to consume.

Abstract

It has been the research about determination level of vitamin B1 in soy bean and tempe. The determination level of vitamin B1 was measured by spectrophotometry visible method. The result is level of vitamin B1 in soy bean higher than level of vitamin B1 in tempeh. Which level of vitamin B1 in soy bean and tempeh is about 1.0213 % ±0.0188% and 0.2960 % ±0.0095%. It show that the proces manufacturing, like washing, bathing, boiling can affect the level of vitamin B1. Statistic analyze anova one way by using SPSS 17 program shows there are significant different (p<0.05) in the level from each sample.

Abstract

The research of immunomodulatory activity and leucocyte cell counts of white male mice has been done by using red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus lemairei (Hook.) Britton & Rose) extracts. Animals were divided into 4 groups, which consists of only one group was given a  NaCMC supension, 2, 3, and 4 group in extract red dragon fruit peel with a dose of 10 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB dan 100 mg/kg BB. Extracts are given for 6 days orally. The result of research showed given the extract red dragon fruit peel orally  of male mice for 6 days can improve the constants and phagocytosis index, and increasing the dose 100 mg/kg BB. The activity of the red dragon fruit peel extract also increased the counts of cells and the total counts of leukocytes was significantly (P <0,05).  A dose of 100 mg/kg BB is the best dose improve the immunomodulatory activity and leukocyte cell counts.

Abstract

Ketoprofen is a non steroid Anti Inflamation Drug (NSAID) and most of ketoprofen tablets have been sold in the market are the ones which generic names and branded names. The aim of this research is to compare the quality of ketoprofen tablets 100 mg which are taken from the generic ones and the branded ones, the date were four types of ketoprofen tablets which consist of two types generic tablets and two types of branded tablets. The measurement of ketoprofen tablets quality is based on the quality standard of ketoprofen tablets which refers to The pharmacope Indonesian the fourth editions. The quality parameter of ketoprofen tablets involved similarity test of weight and size, solodity, friability analysis, disintegration time, composition standard test and disolution profile test. Disolution profil test of ketoprofen tablets was ronducted by using paddle method, measured by spectrofotometer UV, and tested by using phosphate buffer power Hidrogen 7.4 as its medium. Then the result was gotten in 60th minutes for each sample. Sample g1 = 94.89%, sample g2 = 97.52%, sample m1= 100.10% and sample m2= 101.08%. Composition standard test of ketoprofen tablets, was conducted by using spectrofotometer UV and tested by using methanol P 75% as its medium. The result of this shows that the quality of sample g1 = 98.92%, sample g2 = 97.02%, sample m1 = 97.97%, m2 = 100,71%. The result of quality parameter test shows that both of generic and branded ketoprofen tablet fullfiks the quality standard of pharmacope Indonesian the fourth editions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the red lipstick sold in the market Pasar Raya Padang containing rhodamine B. The samples were randomly taken from the market with five (5) red lipsticks samples with notification number (NA) and the other five (5) red lipsticks samples without notification number (NA). The identification of Rhodamine B in the sample by using thin layer chromatography method and the type of this research is qualitative research. The results of samples identification with thin layer chromatography method is as follow: a). Five samples of red lipstick rthat does not have notification number (NA) showed one  lipstick sample (code A) containing Rhodamine B as the standard distance of Rhodamine B is equal or parallel with the  difference of sample’s Rf and raw Rf less than or equal 0.2. Meanwhile the other four lipstick samples (code B, C, D, E) does not contain Rhodamine B b). Five samples of red lipstick with notification number (code F, G, H, I, and J) showed not contain Rhodamine B as  Rhodamine B standard distance of and raw is not equal or not parallel with the difference between the sample’s Rf and raw Rf is more than 0.2.

Abstract

The research of immunomodulatory effect  from the  mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves ethanol extract with a carbon clearance method and the counting of leukocytes cell amount in male white mice. Has been done the ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves is given to every mouse during six days with a 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose. In the seventh day, it has been decided a phagocyte index and the percentage amount of neutrophils, eusinofil, basophile, monocytes and lymphocytes. The result of the research is showing a given ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves at the 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose, it can increase a phagocytes index that is >1and  increase the amount of leukocytes cell that the extract has a characteristic of immunostimulatory.

Abstract

Gastritis is the most common disease found in the community. Everyday frequently we can find patients with upper gastrointestinal problems visit health installation service to cure their disease, such as pain problems or burning sensation in epigastrum area, sometimes followed by regurgitation, stomach heartburn, bloating sensation and early satiety. In gastritis medications, a single therapy is usually preferred,  but there are also some using the combination of two drugs. The common drugs being used is based on gastritis conditions level. In this research, the observed drug combination were ranitidine with sucralfat and ranitidine with antacids. The description of drugs used was being judged based on clinical symptoms and endoscopy examination. The confirmed gastritis patients were divided into two groups. Afterwards, the patient were given the therapy( ranititidine and sucralfat) and (ranitidine and antacids) for two weeks. After 4 months since the therapy was being given, the evaluations of patients conditions was done, including the pain in gastrointestinal tract, nausea, regurgitate, smarting before and after meal, burning sensation in the stomach, early satiety and bloating. From evaluations examinations in to the two groups, we founds the results that in groups I  the complaint was dissolved about 100 % and in groups II was about 80 %.

Abstract

Research on test teratogenic effects of ethanol  extract of leaves of the soursop (Annona muricata L.) have been conducted on white mice fetus. Animal experiments are grouped into  4 group consisting of Group I as a negative control only granted suspension of Na CMC 0.5%, Group II, Group III and Group IV granted soursop leaf ethanol extract at a dose of 250 mg / kg, 500 mg / kg, and 1000 mg / kg once daily from day 6 to day 15 of pregnancy. The 18th day of pregnancy mice were dissected. Results of the study at a dose of 250 mg / kg, a dose of 500 mg / kg, a dose of 1000 mg / kg give teratogen effects. A dose of 250 mg / kg, a dose of 500 mg / kg give teratogen effect with the discovery of skeletal abnormalities. A dose of 1000 mg / kg give teratogen effect with the discovery of late growth. Results showed that the ethanol extract of the leaves of the soursop affect weight loss parent mice were significantly (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control. The quantity of fetuses decreased significantly (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control. Fetal body weight showed a significant effect (p <0.05) when compared to the negative control.

Abstract

Study of solid dispersions of ibuprofen-manitol by solvent method had been researched. Solid dispersions made in 4 ratio formula, F1; F2; F3 and F4 with ibuprofen-manitol ratio  3: 1, 2: 2, 1: 3, and 0.5: 3.5. Evaluation of solid dispersions of Ibuprofen - Manitol include x-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), assay and dissolution test. Results of X-ray diffraction solid dispersion system showed a decrease in intensity of the degree of crystalline ibuprofen. SEM characterization results indicated ibuprofen morphological changes towards more amorphous.

Abstract

The research on  this study aims determine the effect of ethanol extract of Ceplukan to renal impairment of white male mice. This plant has many major content of flavonoid and polyphenol which is an antioxidants.. The study is conducted by five treatments i.e. negative control, positive control, dose 375 mg/kgBW, 750 mg/kgBW, and 1,500 mg/kgBW. All groups were induced by gentamicin for 7 days. Serum creatinin level and renal histopathology is determined on days 8 and 16. Serum creatinine level is analyzed by one way ANOVA statistical analysis. It show that there is significant differences between each group (p˂0,05). Renal histopathology analysis shows at doses 1,500 mg/kgBW there are more widespread expansion of the urinary space, repair of glomerulus cells which is  damaged, decrease epithelial cells which is enter into the tubular lumen. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract of ceplukan can repair renal impairment.
