Abstract

The research on measuring social welfare of migrant families is to describe social change in migrants familie structure. Methodologically, the approach used is qualitative-descriptive. Research location ditermined purposively in Sukabumi Regency, West Java Province, based on cosideration that in this regency many migrant workers go abroad, especially women working in informal sector. Subjects in this research are migrant worker women, chosen purposively, based on criteria they ever worked or are on leave status and will work back abroad. Data are gathered through interview and documentary analysis, and analyzed through qualitative-descriptive technique. The research finds that the decessionof working abroad as migrant workers causes basic change in family lives to be better. The change caused by remintant contribution from working abroad, families are able enhance life quality, both on their children education and economicsocial improvement. But behind its positive change there is negative change, namely the cofusing of family member functions,between husbands and wives during they are abroad. It is recommended it should be set an integrated services unit, untited from related agencies to identify problems and needs of social services to ex-migrant workers, also it should be set local group work and communication forum for ex-migrant workers under supervision and guidance of related agencies.

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe the border community efforts between countries in West Kalimantan especially in maintaining social welfare. This study has 60 respondents taken out of people from rural communities at Jagoi, Jagoi Babang Sub-District, Bengkayang District, West Kalimantan Province, and supportive informants such as stakeholders and community leaders. This decision was carried out purposively in accordance with the needs of relevant data to this research. The data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation study on secondary data related to the research topic. The respondents were selected on the base of appropriateness to the research goal criteria. The data captured are analyzed qualitatively and are presented in percentage to gain some information which described the border society efforts in maintaining the social welfare. The results showed that the location of the village of Jagoi, Jagoi Babang Sub- District was very far away from the center of government in neither central nor local government, and it was really difficult to reach the location because it was located in the mountainous area, so that the infra-structure built up there was still very inadequate. Education and health facilities were still very minimal, Human Resources capability was still at very low level, there were a lot of unemployment, index of poverty was very high, so that it was much more difficult to maintain their social welfare, and their economic activities depended much on their neighbor country of Malaysia, which in turn brought an impact on the lack of nationalism because of their expectation in earning more Ringgit rather than Rupiah.

Abstract

Social rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities organized by institution has advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is its limited capacity if compared with disabilities population who need social service. The results of this study reveals that the social rehabilitation services input in the form of clients, human resources, facilitiy and infrastructure, culture, theory/methods and relative feedback has been relatively fulfilled. Operational conversion, supported by structural component and functional processes has been implemented but not optimal. Social rehabilitation services output have made some clients working independently, either by opening their own business or working in the company.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze about cyberbullying that covers the definitions, types, motives, impacts, and the prevention efforts. This was a was using literature research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data was collected by conducting secondary data documentation which sourced from data of survey institution, special cases on related topic from update news, and research studies. Cyberbullying is a threat contributing to mental, psychological and social disorders. The causal factors of bullying are family, school and peers. In fact, the victims of cyberbullying may be treated as early as possible by involving parents, teachers and school environment, and peers. The recommendations from this study are 1) to the parents: they should take more time with their children, pay attention to their activities in social media, recognize and help to develop their interest and talent, imbed moral values to them by setting good examples in family. 2) to the Government: Children Social Rehabilitation General Directorate of Indonesia Social Ministry is suggested to hold counseling activities to parents and teachers on ways of overcoming cyberbullying, enhance the social workers role and their capacities in accompanying the victims, to provide special guidelines for parents on preventing their children against cyberbullying, to work together with related institutions to set up comprehensive laws and regulations accordingly 3) to teachers: to provide proper direction to their students of how to use the internet in positive way, to optimize environmentbased healthy activities, to enhance the performance of guidance and counseling teachers by monitoring and conducting students’ self-assessment.

Abstract

Lapindo mudflow disaster in Sidoarjo has caused a tremendous impact for the community, especially in the region of Porong and surrounding areas, not just the impact in the form of the destruction of the physical-ecological environmentbut also the social environment. In disaster management, disaster management conducted through four phases, namely: mitigation preparedness, emergency response, and recovery. The recovery phase includes rehabilitation and socialreconstruction. This study aims to examine how efforts performed in the recovery phase post Sidoarjo mud disaster based on the model of social resettlement. It found that the Sidoarjo mudflow disaster recovery phase included social rehabilitation process consisting three programs, namely social assistance, protection and recovery. Social reconstruction effort postdisaster resettlement consisting three social models, namely model of full social resettlement, mix-social resettlement, and free social resettlement. The model of full social resettlement was the best model and fit reconstruction and social rehabilitation of post-disaster.

Abstract

The Karya Wanita Mulya Jaya Institution is a social institution overlooking ex prostitutes. In their service, they go through several phases, from initial approach to termination. After care service is one of phases done after a client back in his or her community. This research is done to know the implementation of an aftercare service in this social institution. The research approach used is qualitative-descriptive technique, aiming to describe the rehabilitation service process, especially in aftercare phase. The research finds that an aftercare service is interpreted as a monitoring and evaluation, not all clients living in their community receiving an aftercare service. The aftercare service is implemented after 2-3 months clients receiving service in the institution, together with Rp 800.000,- giving stimulant to each client. The service given by the institution is very worthwhile for the clients and their families to enhance to a better lives and adaptation among their community.

Abstract

The research was motivated by the condition of lack attention by the local government on protecting the children and the implimentation of the issuance of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Children Protection, which mandates local governments to care the children. This study is to describe the various efforts made by the government of Surakarta and Makassar in realizing child-friendly city (KLA), the supporting and obstacle factors surrounding the KLA embodiment. By using qualitativedescriptive method, the study found some important points about the efforts of local governments on realizing the KLA. In Surakarta, for example, there have been several child-friendly community health centers (puskesmas). The Puskesmas is equipped with a private lounge complete with a children’s playground. In addition, services for children such as nutrition garden, corner of breast milk, pediatrician, child counseling services and a child abuse victim services also continue tobe equipped. No wonder the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection Republic of Indonesia assessment scoring 713 from a total value of 31 indicators contained in the KLA who had filled the city of Surakarta. Meanwhile, Makassar City has not done a lot of local government programs, because the relatively new Makassar proclaimed KLA and is still central to reform. Among the new programs are being implemented and the Government of Makassar is giving birth certificate free of charge, to build flats in slums, and make the two villages as a KLA pilot project. The factors that affect the embodiment of the KLA is a commitment, not only commitment of the head region, but also all relevant parties. As a cross cutting issue, the KLA also requires insttersebuttional capacity, not only the capacity of Women Empowerment andChild Protection Agency as a leading sector in the KLA, but also all related other working units in the area. The success of the KLA in a city is also very depending on the commitment of all parties concerned built. In addition, the program can not be done KLA in a short time, but it needs periods of time and costly effort.

Abstract

This study means to reveal the form, meaning, and Javanese cultural influence on local culture as social solidarity value carriage in rural community in preserving social solidarity. The approach used in this study is qualitative, revealing subjective meaning deeply of social phenomenon in their local living place. This study is implemented two local cultural tourism settings, Kebonagung Village, Imogiri Underdistrict, Bantul Regency. Data resources determined purposively, are they who know comprehensively on local culture and able to inform clearly on cultural components as community carriage to preserve social solidarity value. Data are gathered through interview, field observation, and documentary analysis. The result shows that in effort to preserve social solidarity, local community in those two villages always use local culture that manifested through tradition, expression, and local art. It is recommended that the government, through the Ministry of Social Affairs via the Directory of Heroism, Pioneering, and Social Solidarity make a policy model on social solidarity preservation, and the program activities that published is made in harmony with local culture existence.

Abstract

Praktik pekerjaan sosial selain diarahkan kepada tindakan mengatasi masalah sosial, juga bergerak pada isu yang berorientasi pencegahan dan pengembangan. Salah satu isu yang terkait dengan orientasi pengembangan dan pencegahan masalah adalah kualitas pengasuhan anak oleh orang tua. Riset ini secara praktis dapat dijadikan bahan kajian untuk mengembangkan intervensi pekerjaan sosial dalam meningkatkan kualitas pengasuhan anak oleh orang tua. Artikel secara khusus menggambarkan tentang praktik pengasuhan orang tua terkait pengembangan aspek kogntif anak usia prasekolah. Artikel ditulis berdasarkan riset deskriptif yang dilakukan melalui survey pada populasi keluarga yang memiliki anak usia prasekolah yang tinggal di apartemen transit Kecamatan Rancaekek Kabupaten Bandung.  Praktik pengasuhan yang dilakukan menunjukkan mayoritas orang tua memberi dukungan kepada anak melalui pemberian aktivitas yang menantang anak. Orang tua memberikan kesempatan kepada anak melakukan aktivitas atas inisiatif mereka sendiri. Saat anak mencapai keberhasilan tidak semua orang tua memberi apresiasi pada anak. Hanya sebagian orang tua mengetahui batas kemampuan berfikir anak yang berguna sebagai patokan pembelajaran. Sebagian orang tua pernah menyebut anak mereka malas atau tidak mampu, sebagi hal yang berlawanan dengan pengasuhan efektif yang seharusnya lebih banyak memberi dukungan dan motivasi. Mayoritas orang tua mempraktikan pengasuhan yang sejalan dengan persiapan memasuki tahap perkembangan berikutnya diantaranya belajar mengembangkan persepsi dengan mengajarkan anak memahami keadaan orang lain dan menunda kesenangan. Interaksi dan aktivitas bersama antara orang tua dan anak memungkinkan terjadinya dialog sebagai media untuk meningkatkan kemampuan anak.Untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengasuhan dan mencegah terjadinya perlakuan kurang tepat, pekerja sosial yang bekerja di arena kesejahteraan anak dan keluarga perlu mengembangkan program edukasi terkait praktik pengasuhan yang tepat sesuai dengan tingkat perkembangan anak.

Abstract

The number of poor people in Indonesia is still quite high, spreading in rural areas, urban areas, coastal areas, small islands and countries’ border. Government and community are keep trying to resolve this issue, however declining rate of the number of poor people tends to slow down, including in urban areas. This research aimed to know the performance of the collective business group (CBG) in handling the problems of the poor in urban areas. The research was conducted in two cities, namely Tomohon and Manado in North Sulawesi Province. The subject are the entire CBG that was formedin the fiscal year of 2013 in two cities, which were 10 CBG in Tomohon and 60 CBG in Manado. Data were collected by interview, observation and focus group discussion, in May and July 2016. In practice only as many as 9 in the city ofTomohon and 52 Kube in Manado found. The rsearch results show that the performance of the Kube relatively less well. The largest portion of the CBG have been disbanded 77.8 percent in Tomohon and 90.4 percent in Manado. CBG which are still active as much as two units in Tomohon and five units in Manado. More than half had already disbanded prior to the first anniversary. There are five main reasons that make CBG disbanded, namely business losses, members reluctant to continue their joint effort, natural disasters, and dissent. UEP suffered losses due to three factors, namely the high cost ofproduction, it is not economical, influenced by the weather. Meanwhile, CBGs that survive also less able to give significant additional income for its members. The overall performance of the CBG in two cities has not been sufficient to eradicate poverty. The low performance of the CBGs occur due to a series of program implementation process done professionally, tend to be oriented solely to administrative settlement. Project management has not taken control of technical activities with good substance, at all stages.
