Abstract

This purpose of the research is to find out the influence of the alkali treatment, the heating and the combinations toward the tensile strength on the kenaf single fiber. The alkali treatment was done by soaking the fibers in the mixture of 99% content of alkali (NaOH) by weight of 60 g and aqua in every litre measured for 3 hours. The heating in this research used temperature of 140 oC for 10 hours while the combination of the two was conducted by soaking the fibers in the mixture of 99% content of alkali (NaOH) by weight of 60 g and aqua in every litre measured for 3 hours, then after the firbers were dry, they were heated at the temperature of 140 oC for 10 hours. The tensile test for single fibre in this research was done by using the standard of ASTM C 1557. The finding of the research showed that the highest tensile strength , was on the combination treatment of 60 g alkali for 3 hours and heat treatment at the temperature of 140 o C for 10 hours in the amount of 23.49 MPa, for alkali treated in the amount 22,35 MPa, and heat treatment in the amount 21,25 MPa. The lowest one was obtained when there was no treatment in the amount of 19.49 MPa

Abstract

This paper aims to understand the role of Customs Clearance Services Employers (PPJK), this paper is a descriptive article about PPJK Roles includes: the initial process of making PIB, the payment process through Online Billing system, the registration documents, and the Letter of Expenditure Approval (SPPB). The related documents are the Bill of Lading is issued letter explaining that the shipping company had received goods from shippers to be transported to the port destination and delivered to the recipient; Invoice is a type of document published or issued by exporter or supplier containing details of perhaps goods delivered concerning the quantity of goods, the type or name of goods, the price of goods, methods of delivery, and so on; and Packing list is details of goods in detail which contains the name of the Shipper, consignee, Notify Party, name of Vessel & Voyage, Dimension goods, Gross Weight and net Weight per item of goods as well as the overall total, amount of goods.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is both to mapping various maritime potency that is available in Yogyakarta Special District Territory and as a priority program in maritime development issues through Human resource development toward Yogyakarta as a driving force in building the potency of maritime archipelago. This research accommodates the stakeholders thought in building maritime industry in Yogyakarta. Using empiric approach, policy decisionmaking and some literature brought up various acceleration programs in maritime industry as follows; first, proposing maritime issues in education curriculum from elementary school until high school so that it may return transformation of the maritime vision which now shifts to the land. Second, building new education institution and training program to fulfill the need of qualified human resources in maritime industry which is not yet fulfilled by the current institutions. The criteria is focused on the vocational education which is integrated with all maritime affairs, curriculum, equipment and tools and international-standard human resources to fulfill the need of both national and international human resources. Third, standardizing all the existing training equipment and tools based on international standard. Nowadays, both private and state maritime vocationalschoolsin Yogyakarta have not yet fulfilledthe required minimum standard. Fourth, conducting cooperation with foreign accredited education institutions and training programs which are best suited with education character in Yogyakarta. By this effort, It will increase the quality of the graduates students of the schools. Fifth, increasing the quality and quantity of human resources in maritime sector based on the society demands both through formal and informal training education. Sixth, improving research and development in maritime issues and building maritime laboratories to implement innovated technology and non-technology. Seventh, setting maritime community as a media to collaborate and evaluate the program. Eight, conducting cooperation with investors to build port and to supply 50 GT vessel onward to contribute giving better income for fishermen. Abstract

In the English Language Teaching (ELT) process, the four basic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening should be drilled continuosly to get the maximum goal of English learning objective. However, mostly the lecturer or the teacher could not concern to the development of those skills due to some constraints. Classroom factor, strategy factor, student’s factor, lecturer’s factor may hamper the development of those skills at once. Regarding the curriculum, mostly lecturer will catch up to student’s writing skill which involves the mastery of grammatical knowledge and reading competence at class. Somehow, the important of the development of speaking and listening or communication ability is neglected. This research focusses to find the essential role of language laboratory to enhance student’s communication ability. It is hoped that the use of laboratory facility will enable and help lecturer or teacher to highlight their student’s communication ability as well not only their writing and reading skills as a whole. This study applies descriptive qualitative method and It uses theory of Wallace (1991) to analyze the data. The research is conducted in Yogyakarta Maritime Academy. The respondents are the the students of nautical science semester II of Academic year 2015/2016. The key instrument in this research is the researcher herself. Researcher collects the data by observing the teaching-learning process of English class in laboratory several times and then conducts twice in-depth interviews with the students at the end of the class. The data is analyzed through categorization based on the continuous comparison technique. To get the trustworthiness, researcher uses triangulation technique. The result of the research shows that through the abundant variety of teaching technique and media as well as the facilities offered by language laboratory, it could give improtant role in the development of student’s speaking skill or student’s communication ability compared to the use of facilities in the classical room usage..

Abstract

Perhaps the most obvious responsibility of higher education is the education of young (and often not-so-young) professionals. Another very important function is research, and it has other important functions, but here we will be concerned mainly with its educational function. How it can fulfill this function can be measured by examining what benefits it can provide (or more precisely: has provided) to the target group (the graduates). This – the “return of investment” – can be measured by considering the rewards appearing is the form of better jobs, higher remuneration or other forms of appreciation. Some of these can be expressed in monetary terms; others (such as self-fulfilment or more favourable working conditions) cannot be quantified so easily.

Abstract

In the last few years, international trading undergoes rapid-like program so that purchasing import increases significantly. As one of the example of it is that buyers can order product from certain country via bank. This kind of activities is under custom regulation on commercial affairs. On the other hand, documentary credit is effectively used since 1983. Some of important documents should be available or included during the transaction. Since the bank requires these documents, payment is assumed to be noted if only buyers succeed in providing the documents.

Abstract

Multiples linear regression analysis is used to review examines the relationship of two or more between independent with dependent variable. This research aims to know how to influence education services (as independent variable) with the cadets learning effectiveness (as dependent variable), reviewed from the performance of lecturers, administration services, program studies management and infrastructure which is owned by the Maritime Academy in Yogyakarta. This research approach using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS). The relationship between four independent variables to the dependent variable with strong relationship were program study management and performance of lecturers. The program studies management and boarding costs lecturers good so learning effectiveness cadets also getting good.

Abstract

This research was conducted in an attempt to investigate teaching strategies concerning to both student-centered learning strategy and teacher-centered learning strategy. It is concerned toward teaching strategies implemented by the EFL lecturer, similarities and differences of teaching strategies applied, and problems encountered by the teachers in implementing the strategies. The settings of this research were Yogyakarta Maritime Academy with Nautical Science students Academic year 2015/2016 as the object of the study. The subjects of this research was the author who taught Maritime English Subject. This research was designed as a qualitative-quantitative research. The data were collected through questionnaire, observation, and document study. Data were analyzed by using Williamson (2008) and Celce-Murcia( 2001) EFL teaching strategies. Based on the data analysis, this study identified some findings. Student-centered learning approach which uses back-chaining drill was different in the implementation with that of teacher-centered learning approach using direct instruction. Back-chaining drill left enthusiatic experiences for students in learning process. The problems which occured were also different. In back-chaining mostly the problem was at the beginning of the activities and it led to enthusiastic and interesting material. However in direct instruction, it left monotonous activities.

Abstract

Kegiatan pelabuhan yang mempunyai nilai ekonomi tinggi akan menjadi perebutan para pemegang kepentingan, antara Pemerintah sebagai regulator yang dilaksanakan BUMN (bersifat monopoli) dan perusahaan swasta nasional juga ingin mendapatkan bagian kue kegiatan yang tersebut. Secara ekonomi bahwa satu kegiatan monopoli biasanya kurang sehat dan cenderung diselewengkan kegiatan dimaksud sejak kapal masuk sudah harus berurusan dengan regulator, kapal sandar, bongkar muat dan kapal meninggalkan pelabuhan, sehingga ingin segera dilayani dan segera meninggalkan pelabuhan. Regulasi yang dilaksanakan pemerintah dengan monopoli menjadi masalah karena urusan fisik kapal, awak namun kegiatan bongkar muat masih ada peran swasta yang juga berkepentingan, dan selama ini masih terpinggirkan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine "the extent to which price, and place a variable effect on the Cadets satisfaction. The subject of this study are 71 cadets level III of 3 (three) majors available at AMY namely KPN, Nautical and Teknika. The tools used in this study to test the instrument by using SPSS 17.0, F-test, t test and Stepwise test. This research resulted in the discovery of the F test in accordance with the F-count > F-table with a significant level of 0.000 <0.05 (p <0.05), means variables affect the price and place simultaneously against complacency cadets. T-count the price variable is smaller than t-table 1.986 < 2.651 with a probability of (0.051) is greater than the significance level of 0.05, its mean that the price variable has no significant effect on the satisfaction of cadets. For t- test at variable places, t-count is greater than t table (5.361> 2.651) with probability (0.000) is smaller than the significance level of 0.05, its mean that the variable sites had a significant impact on satisfaction cadets. The results of the method stepwise showed that the dominant variable influencing satisfaction of cadets (Y) is a (X2). It is seen from the test stepwise most dominant influence satisfaction cadets (Y) is a (X2). It is also seen from the value of t 5.361 with a probability level of 0,000.
