Abstract

This study aims to map research trends and findings on the role of history education in fostering nationalism and patriotism among Indonesian high school students from 2015 to 2025. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, data were collected from Google Scholar, SINTA, Garuda databases. Out of 500 initial articles, 20 met the PICOC inclusion criteria and were analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings reveal three main themes: digital technology integration in history learning, revitalization of local history to strengthen national identity, and participatory methods that foster empathy and historical awareness. History education plays a crucial role in internalizing national values in the digital era. This review is limited to high school-level studies and predominantly qualitative designs; thus, further mixed-method research is recommended to enhance result validity.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the National Socialist regime’s rise to power on the community of social science scholars at the University of Frankfurt and its broader implications for the development of modern social thought. The increasing dominance of anti-Semitic and racial ideology in pre-World War II Germany forced many Frankfurt intellectuals to flee for safety, leading to the dispersion of key scholars to various countries, including the United States. The research aims to explain how this displacement contributed to an epistemological shift from the Frankfurt School to the Chicago School, which later influenced the emergence of contemporary New Social Movements. Employing historical methods consisting of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiographical synthesis, the study analyzes the intellectual networks of scholars in Germany and the United States, the trajectory of the Institute for Social Research, and its relocation from Frankfurt to Chicago. The findings show that the transformation of German critical theory in the United States produced new frameworks that combined postmodern and Marxian perspectives, shaping movements such as anti-war activism, Black civil rights, feminism, and environmentalism. The study contributes to historical scholarship by highlighting how intellectual migration reshaped critical theory and laid the groundwork for modern sociopolitical movements.

Abstract

Jalungmas dance is a new dance created by the people of Cilacap, Indonesia. This dance is adapted from Jaipong and Calung Banyumasan dances, formed from the cultural background of coastal communities, which not only feature beautiful movements and music, but also contain deep meanings that reflect their lives, values, and characters. The research aims to analyze Jalungmas dance as a representation of coastal communities, uncover the meanings and symbols contained within it, and examine the reflection of character from an ecological perspective. Using qualitative methods and an interdisciplinary approach, including observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that this dance represents the close relationship between the community and its natural surroundings, reflected in the movements, props, and musical accompaniment of the dance. Its meaning encompasses harmony, unity, togetherness, independence, and respect for nature. The symbols used reinforce the community's identity as fishermen. This dance also reflects a resilient, adaptive character that upholds local wisdom in living a life close to the sea. In addition, it represents and reflects a hard-working character that is adaptive to the environment. This dance is a medium for preserving local culture and strengthening identity. The research is expected to provide new insights into understanding dance as a representation of society and preserving a cultural heritage that is rich in meaning and noble values.
