Jurnal Living Hadis (ISSN: 2528-7567) (e_ISSN: 2548-4761) is a yearly dual published journal issued by Department of Hadith Studies, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in cooperation with ASILHA (Asosiasi Ilmu Hadis Indonesia, Association of Hadith Studies in Indonesia). Jurnal Living Hadis circulates research from lecturers, researchers, as well as intellectual who focus on the study on hadith; including takhrij al hadith, ma’anil hadith, mukhtalif-musykil hadith, contemporary hadith studies, hermeneutics, methodology and syarah hadith (interpretation of hadith) up to social phenomenon of hadith, worldly known as living hadith.

Hadith become the source of both law in Islam, where textual and contextual application is used. Some hadith needed editors of the qur’an texts to get an understanding of the hadiths being studied. In this study, we adopted one hadiths which is still a public debate. The focus of this research is that of women’s leadership gifts to be studied by Mubadalah methods the one that was championed by Faqihuddin Abdul Qadir. Footsteps his research was to throne the hadith and to explain the terms and then apply traditional thought Mubadalah as a step to gaining an understanding of the hadith which did not affect women’s subornation anymore. Further explaining the roles that women have performed in public space the study concludes that basic Islamic principle used in the hadith is surah An-Nisa verse 59 and the surah at-taubah verse 71. In both the verse explained the reprisals for those who had faith and obedience to their leaders. Then the main idea when discovered applies the mubadalah method is either the lack of luck or luck a victory for nation. And the final step is to enter the subject which is there is no mention (men). Men could’ve done damage if he’d been a leader. The understanding given by the mubadalah method is how to make a hadith impression at all parties, not only one participant and costs other by using the passage of the qur’an as understanding.

In its development a lot of religious traditions that emerged in the community, especially religious traditions carried out in a mosque, a place where the center of worship of Muslims in congregation. Masjid Jami 'Al-Muhsin Krapyak Wetan is one of them, there is a tradition that is constantly being carried out and has become a part of worship at the mosque. The tradition of recitation of Asma'ul Husna at the Jami Mosque 'Al-Muhsin Krapyak Wetan is a unique phenomenon, in which there are interesting things in terms of normative and historical. With qualitative-field research methods and using a phenomenological approach, the tradition will be presented so that it becomes a comprehensive study and provides interesting information. This study gets a conclusion that from the tradition there are several things that make the tradition to be lasting. Namely the existence of a person who becomes a role model, then there is awareness of knowledge about the things that support the implementation of the tradition continuously. All of these things support one another for the continuation of the tradition of reading Asma'ul Husna at the Mosque.

This study presents specific ahadīth (sing. hadīth) which inform neighbourly relations on a day-to-day basis. I interpret my actions towards a neighbour, who was experiencing personal problems, as lived-hadīth citizenship. That is, my interactions with my neighbour were infused with Prophet Muhammad's teachings and instructions as found in ahadīth. Aspects of Prophetic wisdom, such as care and easing somebody’s burdens, align with contemporary sociological, anthropological, and psychological definitions of citizenship. This study thus shows that Islamic scripture has a positive role to play in Western societies, shaping daily behaviours such as being a good citizen in one’s neighbourhood.

Researchers see a reality where the tradition of burying the dead in a religious system that is part of the rituals that occur in several religious groups. The itbā'ul janāzah tradition is part of the religious system built by the Muslim community. Kauman village has its own tradition of delivering corpses as a form of religious behavior. This study uses a qualitative type with a living hadith study approach. Researchers see that this tradition is received by hadiths related to the obligation of Muslims to deliver corpses for others. There are two types of hadith that are used as theological references in carrying out itbā'ul janāzah activities in the village of Kauman. First, the narration of Bukhari (1164) sourced from Abu Hurairah about the rights and obligations of every Muslim over other Muslims. Second, the narration of Muslim (1572) which is sourced from Abu Hurairah about the reward of delivering the corpse. From the results of this study, it was concluded that religious practices carried out by the Kauman community were indirectly based on the itbā'ul janāzah hadith.

This article contains the moderate thoughts offered by Yusuf al-Qardhawi in understanding al-Sunnah. Sunnah is defined differently according to the scientific field emphasized. There is a definition of sunnah according to hadith experts, ushul fiqih experts and jurists. Sunnah in terms of content, there are sunnah qauliyyah, sunnah fi'liyah and taqririyah. The degree of sunnah is second only to the Qur'an. The division of the sunnah into tasyri'iyah and ghairu tasyri'iyah had its seeds in the classical period of the history of Islamic law. In the contemporary period the division of the sunnah into tasyri'iyah and ghairu tasyr'iyah got its perfect form. One of the scholars who developed the distribution of the sunnah is Yusuf al-Qardhawi. He emphasized a moderate understanding in understanding the sunnah. The trick is to divide the sunnah into sunnah tasyri'iyah and ghairu tasyri'iyah so as not to fall into an extreme understanding, as groups that claim sunnah in its various forms must be obeyed and groups that claim to separate worldly things from religions that are too extreme. This idea is an idea that is considered effective in balancing religious understanding so as not to become a group that is too extreme left or right. Especially in the midst of widespread intolerance, extremism and radicalism that is exposed to some contemporary Muslim society.

Art is a medium of da'wah that grows and develops until now. Islam brought by the guardians to the archipelago has a basis on symbols, including symbols in art. If art is explored more deeply, it will be understood things that are closely related to religious texts. Kubro Siswo is the art of dance accompanied by music and syi'ir-syi'ir that contains advice. This art is not only limited to spectacle, but also demands that are conveyed through the syi'ir-syi'ir. Kubro Siswo is usually displayed in big events, such as the month of independence, Isra 'Mi'raj, and other events. The phenomenon of Kubro Siswo's art becomes very interesting to study. Based on the phenomenological theory, it will appear that this art has a considerable impact on the life of the Magelang community. This art not only functions as a spectacle that teaches love for ancestral traditions, but also as a means of da'wah that always invites people to cultural values that are in line with Islamic law. Every poem sung in Kubro Siswo's art has a deep meaning, which contains an invitation to goodness that is indirectly sourced from the Qur'an and Hadith.

This study intends to observe moral values in the Official Trailer of the Film "The Santri". The type of this research is a qualitative descriptive study with the research subject, namely the Official Trailer of the Film "The Santri" produced by the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Board. Descriptive research is research that is obtained in the form of words, pictures from the official trailer of the film "The Santri" and not data in the form of numbers. Primary data collection procedures used using listening, taking notes, interviews, observation (field notes), and documentation. The research results that have been described, namely the Official Trailer of the film "The Santri" contain good moral values for all groups and all ages, including educational, cultural, moral values, strengthening personality, integrity, for the millennial generation in the perspective of Living Hadith. This film can be used as a reference and a means of moral education for children with the guidance of parents as well as for adolescents and can be used as a means of cultivating morals so that the positive values in the film can be digested by the children properly.

It is believed that Monday-Thursday Sunnah fasting can improve the spiritual quality of the students who practice it. Then how is this practice that comes from the Hadith successfully practiced by the students? What is the effect on the character and spiritual building of santri? This study describes the practice of Monday Thursday fasting; teaching method of the Hadith fasting Monday Thursday; and the attention from the Islamic boarding school in reviving the Monday-Thursday fasting in Islamic boarding school environment. The study was conducted in the Maqamam Mahmuda Islamic Boarding School, Central Aceh by using qualitative methods for collecting the data. While the data obtained were analyzed by deductive and inductive methods. After being researched, the the Islamic boarding school has carried out this sunnah of fasting activity very well. This practice of fasting was carried out for the good response of the students to the Hadits of Monday-Thursday fasting Hadith that was taught. In fact, the students do it on their own consciousness. This also has affected the spirituality of the santri, namely the spirit of doing good deeds; exercise patience; educating morality and controlling desire.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze antioxidant foods in the diet of Madinan society in 622-632 A.D. which is believed to be the time when the Prophet Muhammad dwelled in Madinah. Recently, Madinan society and other societies of the world were reported to have a depraved and unhealthy diet. This paper focuses on the Madinan diet to obtain a deeper understanding of a well-balanced diet as an exemplary dietary model for societies worldwide. This study is a qualitative study and the approach is content analysis. Data collected through the methods of content and document analysis are thematically analyzed using descriptive and analytical methods. Findings demonstrate that the variety of foods in the Madinan diet represents a complete and well-balanced diet. The implication of this study establishes that the foods in their diet contain beneficial antioxidant compounds. Thus, the dietary model of Madinan society can be recommended and served as one of the dietary models owing to its health benefits and its palatability.

Awal waktu subuh menjadi perbincangan yang kontroversial. Ada pernyataan dari sebuah komunitas yang menyatakan bahwa waktu shalat Subuh di Indonesia terlalu pagi. Para ulama juga berbeda dalam menentukan ketinggian matahari waktu subuh. Demikian halnya dengan Muhammadiyah. Pada Munas Tarjih tahun 2020, Muhammadiyah telah menggeser awal waktu subuh dari -20 derajat menjadi -18 derajat. Tulisan ini mengungkap berbagai argumentasi Muhammadiyah yang melatar belakangi perubahan sikap dalam menentukan awal waktu subuh serta implikasinya. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dan bersifat deskriptif-analitis. Analisis data dilakukan dengan tehnik analisa isi (content analysis). Berdasar penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa pergeseran pendapat fikih Muhammadiyah terhadap awal waktu subuh bukan bermula dari kajian teks al-Qur'an dan hadis, tetapi bersumber pada riset empirik yang dilakukan oleh 3 (tiga) lembaga riset astronomi yang dimiliki oleh Muhammadiyah. Hanya saja hasil riset tersebut masih berada dalam bingkai pemahaman atas teks al-Qur'an dan hadis. Hasil riset semuanya menunjukkan bahwa pada posisi matahari -20 derajat fajar shadiq belum nampak. Fajar shadiq baru nampak pada posisi matahari -18 derajat atau bahkan lebih kecil lagi. Keberanian Muhammadiyah untuk menggeser awal waktu subuh juga didukung oleh fakta bahwa ulama falaq juga berbeda pendapat dan tidak bersepaham mengenai awal waktu Subuh dalam rentang mulai 16 derajat – 20 derajat. Begitu juga dengan berbagai negara di dunia juga berbeda dalam menetapkan standar awal waktu subuh dalam rentang 17.5 derajat – 20 derajat.
