Jurnal Pembelajaran Sains (Print ISSN: 2355-7044; Online ISSN: 2527-9157) provides a place for teachers, academics, lecturers, and students to share and discuss the results of their research in the field of science education. JPS publishes academic articles that focus on teaching and learning science from a range of basic education to higher education. This journal serves as a bridge between researchers and practitioners (teachers at every level of education) in sharing and providing information, ideas and opinions about the reality of education experienced by each. Science education which is included in the focus of JPS is not only limited to science education at the junior high school level. JPS also publishes academic articles related to the results of research in the fields of chemical education, physical education, and biological education for the level of basic education to higher education. JPS also does not close itself to publish academic articles related to the integration of science education with other disciplines, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), geography, social education, and art. However, academic articles relating to research in the field of pure science and education in general (not related to science / Science education) will not be considered for publication by JPS. Academic articles in the field of science education published by JPS can be in the form of empirical research, such as the development / application of learning models and strategies, the development and innovation of teaching materials and learning media, and the development of learning evaluation instruments. Both the academic articles of experimental research and the results of classroom action research (CAR) are highly accepted for publication in JPS. All academic articles published by JPS must follow the applicable research rules and any data / research results can be justified by the author.

Abstract

This research is class action research (CAR). The aim is to apply the steps of the learning cycle 5e learning model by using mind mapping to increase the learning activities of class X1 students at SMA Negeri 1 Cendana, Enrekang Regency. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results of the study show that the steps in each phase of the learning model that can improve students' learning activities are: (1) the engagement phase is carried out by associating concepts with other concepts, (2) the exploration phase is carried out by observing, asking questions and investigating by discussing , as well as recording the concepts obtained in the form of mind mapping, (3) the explanation phase is carried out by expressing the concepts that have been obtained using their own words, (4) the elaboration phase is carried out by working on problems by applying the concepts that have been obtained or expanding the concepts that have been obtained. is known, (5) the evaluation phase is carried out to determine the extent of students' knowledge of the concepts that have been studied. The learning activities of students increased from cycle I of 45.91% with an adequate predicate to 61.88% in cycle II with a good predicate.

Abstract

Learning based on actual problems experienced by students using problem-based learning models is believed to increase student participation in identifying problems and student activity in solving problems. This study aimed to increase the activeness of class VIII students in the material of light and optical instruments. The subjects of this study were 32 class VIII A students of SMPN 1 Karanggeneng, Lamongan. The study was conducted in the pre-, cycle I, and cycle II stages. Data collection techniques were carried out using activeness observation techniques, cycles I and II tests, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are used to compare the results of observations of student activity at the pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II stages. The results showed increased student activity in cycles I (74.55%) and II (85.27%). Several factors can influence student activity. Therefore, the role of teachers as facilitators is needed to determine learning strategies for student needs so that students can more readily accept and understand the material that will be delivered well. Applying the problem-based learning model can increase the activeness of class VIII students in the material on light and optical systems.

Abstract

A problem-based learning model is a learning model that introduces learning from phenomena faced by students so that students can understand contextually and improve their cognitive abilities. This study aims to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes using Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The type of research used is the analysis of class action research descriptions. This research design uses the Kurt Lewin model. The subject of this study took class VIII-H, which consisted of 32 students at SMP Negeri 3 Bangil. Data collection techniques used were pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in tabular form. The results showed an increase in students' cognitive learning outcomes; in cycle one, it was 62% with an average score of 78.75; in cycle two, it increased to 90% with an average score of 86.71. This means an increase in cognitive learning outcomes. Thus, using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model on digestive system material can improve the cognitive learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 3 Bangil.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes that still need to be higher or that many students need to achieve maximum completeness in the buffer solution material are caused by the inability of students to understand the questions. This study aims to determine the percentage of senior high school students' learning difficulties in the buffer solution material of chemistry. The research method used is bibliometric analysis by collecting literature results from Google Scholar with the keywords: Learning Difficulty, Buffer Solution. The results showed that the level of students' learning difficulties ranged from 67.33% to 85.85%, internal factors causing learning difficulties included motivation and interest, and external factors, including family, teachers and school. Thus, it is hoped that students will deepen their knowledge about buffer solutions and hold discussions with the teacher and their friends to overcome this problem of learning difficulties.

Abstract

The Human Circulation System is problematic because it explains how work requires innovation so students can receive it well. Lack of media causes students’ difficulties in learning. The purpose of this study was to identify learning difficulties in the Human Circulatory System material and determine the effectiveness of the Human Circulatory System media model and interactive videos in overcoming student learning difficulties in this material in fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Srengat 01. The data collection method used in This research is a test with ten indicator questions. This study's data analysis method is descriptive statistics to analyze students' learning difficulties. The results of the pre-test analysis showed that students had learning difficulties. However, after being given treatment and analyzing the results of the post-test, it was found that the Human Circulatory System media and interactive videos greatly influenced student learning outcomes. It was proven from 10 question indicators, 8 of which experienced an increase. In addition, from the pre-test average of 41.17 it increased to 57.92 on the post-test average. This shows that the media model of the human circulatory system and interactive videos effectively overcome student learning difficulties, judging from the results of the post-test, which are better than before. This research has implications for the use of authentic media and digital media.

Abstract

Chemistry is a science that seeks answers to questions about what, why, and how a natural phenomenon is closely related to a substance's composition, structure, and properties. This study aims to determine the level of learning motivation of students of SMA Islam Sabilurrosyad in Chemistry subject, the level of student self-regulation, and the relationship between learning motivation and student self-regulation. This non-experimental study used a quantitative correlational method, namely the Pearson correlation analysis technique or Product Moment correlation. The study results showed that most students learning motivation and self-regulation levels were in the moderate category, namely 66.67% of respondents who understood motivation and 63.89% who understood self-regulation. In addition, data processing using SPSS found a relationship between learning motivation and self-regulation.
