Jurnal Ilmu Informasi Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan is a journal of Library and Information Science published by the Information Science, Library and Archival Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Department, State University of Padang. The journal covers all issues in information, librarianship and archival studies. The coverage of the discussion in librarianship may be viewed from various perspectives of disciplines. AbstractIn this paper the language about Millennial Generation Information Search Behavior To Meet Information Needs. This study aims to describe the information seeking behavior of the millennial generation to meet the information needs of this study at the Padang State University. Data were collected through observation and distribution of questionnaires with students of the Indonesian and Regional Languages and Literature Department at Padang State University. Analyzing the data, concluded the following matters. (1). Starting - consists of activities that initiate information seeking activities. In general (100%) determine the topic especially before conducting an information search, in general (90%) conduct information search after discussion or consultation with lecturers, in general (95.23%) know the information needs when attending lectures, (88.4 %) know the information needs specifically, and in general (88%) do information when they are aware of and know the need for information. (2). Chaining - activities following a series of citations, citations or forms of reconciliation between documents with each other. In general (92.8 uses a bibliography to search information, generally (90.4%) use the author's name from the core reference to look for other references in conducting information searches, and in general (92.9%) use subjects from core reference to look for other references (3) Browsing - merawak, looking for, but rather directed, in areas that are considered to have the potential for the information needed.In general (73%) libraries can always meet information needs, in general In general (95.2%) look for information on the internet if the information you are looking for is not found in the printed source of information, (92.8%) generally directly looking for information on the internet if the information you need is not found in the printed source of information, at generally (45.22%) query identification (keywords). (4). Differentiating - sorting, using the features in the information source as a basic reference for checking quality or information content. in general (88%) the internet is the main source of information, in general (92.84%) The source of information printed is still very much needed in fulfilling information needs. (5). Monitoring - monitoring progress by focusing on selected sources. In general (88.09%) looked for the latest information through the internet by searching for the latest articles, in general (78.56%) needed to find the latest information to enrich the reference sources. (6). Extracting - systematically digging in one source to retrieve information that is considered important. In general (90.47 when you need information you often search the search engine (google, yahoo), in general (88.09 often uses a journal database to get information, in general (78.56%) after getting information on the internet , you directly copy the information, in general (76.19%) use the "Google" search engine because it is more relevant than other search engines.Keywords:Â behavior, millennial generation and information.

The purpose of this paper is: (1) describe the promotion strategies undertaken by the Library of SMA Negeri 1 1X Koto Sungai Lasi, (2) describes the obstacles encountered in the promotion of State High School Library 1 1X Koto Sungai Lasi. Existing services in this paper is less effective. Descriptive method that outlines the findings or data in accordance with the activities carried out by the Library of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Lasi 1X Koto in promotional activities. The data were obtained by interview and direct observation to employees of State High School Library 1 1X Koto Sungai Lasi. AbstractA makingÂ library promotionÂ Â videoÂ and reading for children in Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Provinsi Sumatera Barat,, to promote library especially children service in order to optimize library usage in growing reading interest to society which expected to start from early age. Making this research using descriptive methods, by way of observation. After the data collection is done, the next step in the library promotion and reading for children is (1) pre production by determining the idea, making synopsis, treatment, storyboard, shooting script, production planning, production preparation, and the last is editing vidio, (2) production, production stage, production stage is the stage used to run all the stages that have been designed at the stage of pre-production, (3) post production vidio production using video editing software is Adobe Pemier Pro Software.Keyword: making, video, promotion, library

This paper is aimed to describe about the maintenance and preservation of library materials in SMAN 7 Padang dealing with: (1) the factors that caused damage in library materials in SMAN 7 Padang, (2) how to prevent the damage to library materials in SMAN 7 Padang, (3) the constraints faced in the maintenance and preservation of library materials SMAN 7 Padang.Data were collected through observation and interviews with librarians in SMANegeri 7 Padang then from other materials that are supportive. From the analysis and discussion of the study, the result was found as the following: First, the damage of library materials in SMANegeri 7 is caused by factors of physics, biology, chemistry, and humans. Second, the maintenance of library materials in SMANegeri 7 Padang has been done but not optimal yet, such as cleaning the books from dust by using a feather duster and wipe dry. Third, SMANegeri 7 Padang does not have professional staff and also lack of funds to maintenance.Based on the conclusion above, it is suggested as follows. First, it should have professional librarians there. Second, the school should pay more attention to the library by providing the funds for maintenance of library materials. Writing this article aims to: (1) describe the creation of the archive in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra; (2) describe the use and maintenance of records in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra; (3) describe the depreciation records in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra. Based on the discussion, it can be concluded: (1) the creation of records in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra there is no serious problem that occurs due to the life cycle of records; (2) the use and maintenance in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra has a limited budget so that funds infrastructure not materialize; (3) depreciation records in the Office of Cooperative and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the province of West Sumatra has not been done because each unit to keep its own archives. This paper is aimed at assessing the effectiveness of library services to People with Visual Impairment in Social Institution Bina Netra Tuah Sakato Padang. The method used is descriptive method, that data is collected through observation, interview, and literature study with blind people in the Library users Social Institution Bina Netra Tuah Sakato Padang. Based on the results of this study concluded matters as the following. First, the effectiveness of the services contained in the library Social Institution Bina Netra Tuah Sakato not run well because libraries still provide the services that are still in the stage of a standard or simple and the presence of special facilities should be used for people with visual impairment. Second, there are obstacles: 1) lack of effective services that are applied 2) the lack of budget funds in the provision of facilities and materials in the library collections resulted in the ineffectiveness of the library service. 3) the librarian has a friendly attitude and good, but librarians do not have the educational background of library science. Third, efforts made to overcome the above as follows. 1) provide optimal service and add to the library service, 2) proposed budget for facility improvements and additions to the library collection, 3) conduct training for librarians in order to know the ins and outs of the library and the library is able to manage it well.Keyword: effectiveness of services, library services, blind.

AbstractIn this paper discussed about the creation of an index of newspaper stories with the subject son Singgalang in the service of the library and Archives of the city of Padang. The purpose of this paper is how stages of making a newspaper index to the subject of children's stories Singgalang in the service of the library and Archives of the city of Padang.Research methods used in the manufacture of the paper is descriptive method in the form of the written word of the document are observed is done by way of observation. The observation is done to obtain data about existing Singgalang newspaper in the service of the library and Archives of the city of Padang.On the basis of the discussion it can be concluded that the stage of the round-the-comic library services library and Archives Office of Padang City elementary school for application of manga maker, as follows: 1) do the observation of Singgalang newspaper; 2) performs the selection against the article; 3) do the newspaper clippings; 4) makes description index newspaper; 5) index; and 6) type index.Keywords: Index, children's stories

The purpose of this study is to describe the design of the card catalog in letter retrieval system at administrative Office of Library Archives and Documentation of Pesisir Selatan District. Data were collected through observation and in a descriptive research. Based on data analysis, stage of making a card catalog is (1) determining the physica, storange used letters; (2) determining the size of the card catalog designed; (3) determining specifying the information to be entered to the card catalog; (4) determining the storange and preparation of catalog cards; (5) determining the storange system used to store the card catalog. Results obtained from these data is the card catalog for incoming and outgoing letter are (1) the physical from letters storange system was used between chronological and alphabetical combinations; (2) catalog size is 7.5 x 12.5 cm with a thickness of 0.025 cm; (3) the contents of the catalog are the placement of numbers, letters home, letters purposes, subject date entry/exit date, number of letters, attachments; (4) storage cabinets catalog using for card catalogs; (5) theÂ letters storage system based on the alphabet name of the sender, recipient or subject; (6) focus on the search procedure for finding a storage code letter that guides the user to the resources letters needed. The writing of this paper discusses the factors that affect the low level of visitors at Perpustakaan Dinas Perpustakaan Kota Padang.The method used in writing this paper is descriptive method. Source of data obtained from the librarian at Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota PadangÂ and some general public. The data collection techniques were conducted by interviewing some of the general public .Based on the analysis of data that has been obtained, it can be concluded that (1) the factors that affect the low level of visitors in Library of Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota Padang, First, the location is not strategic and not widely known by the public. Second, the book collection is incomplete and visitors difficult to find the books. Next, the facilities in the library are inadequate; (2) the effort are made to increase the visitors in Library of Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota PadangÂ are, the librarians have to do promotion activity, add the collection according to the needs of visitors, refinement the room by rearranging books around the reading table into the shelves that have been provided.Keyword: library, the factors , the level of visitor,Â librarian
