Jurnal Ilmu Informasi Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan is a journal of Library and Information Science published by the Information Science, Library and Archival Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Department, State University of Padang. The journal covers all issues in information, librarianship and archival studies. The coverage of the discussion in librarianship may be viewed from various perspectives of disciplines. Jurnal Ilmu Informasi Perpustakaan dan Kearsipanis intended to be published twice a year in July and December.

<![CDATA[The purpose of this research are describing: 1) the things that motivate university students in investigating information at Medical Faculty Library of Andalas University, 2) the factors that dominantly motivate university students in investigating information at Medical Faculty Library of Andalas University. The data were collected through observation and spreading questionnaire to the university students. Data analysis was done descriptively. Based on analyzed data, we can conclude that: First, the things that motivate university students in investigating information are: 1) sometimes librarian help university students to find materials that they need, 2) the university students have had objective that they want to reach, 3) the university students will be motivated if the information that is given by the librarian is attractive, 4) the librarians give admission to the university students, 5) the university students will be motivated if they are participated in a group, 6) doing the things that really motivate the university students, 7) the challenge will give motivation to the university students, 8) the university students need motivation support, 9) togetherness will motivate the university students. Second, the factors that dominantly motivate the university students in investigating information at Medical Faculty Library of Andalas University is internal factor that is come from the university students themselves. <![CDATA[AbstractThe research method used in this paper is qualitative method used direct observation and interviews with Head of Library and Librarian in the Archives and Library of Pesisir Selatan Regency. Based on data analyzing the data can be concluded that the steps in making video promotion library as follows : First, pre production is the initial stage before the implementation of video production consisting of the discovery of ideas, synopsis, treatment, storyboard, shotting script, production planning and production preparation. Second step is, production to realize all the steps that exist in pre production stage. <![CDATA[This study aimed to describe: work motivation Politani librarian at the Library, the forms of motivation given leadership to the librarian, and the difficulties inmotivating librarians working in the Library Politani. Data were collected through interviews and observations in the Library Politani. The data were analyzed descriptively. Technique of analyzingdata is done by describing the interview, describing the results of direct observation, data has been obtained in accordance with the theory discussed, conclusions, and reporting. The results of this study are as follows: (1) motivation librarians already exist in it self, but the implementation is still not good, (2) forms of motivation given to the librarian leadership Politani Library is extrinsic motivation in the form of gifts, and advice orally (ego-involvement), (3)difficulties in motivating librarians motivation is difficult to determine the most appropriate tool for each individualis not the same desire, the ability Library Politani limited in providing facilities, library leaders work hard to know the motivation of each individual librarians. <![CDATA[Based on the observation, the book lend and give-back process in the Documentation, Archive, and Library of Padang Panjang was not good enough. The librarians still did simple record by usng Microsoft Excel which record the member data per sheet. This process was found to take long time and was ineffective. It will different if the librarian use the new book lend and give-back information system. The objective of this information system design is to help Documentation, Archive, and Library of Padang Panjang in book lend and give-back process fastly and easily. This design use Visual Basic 6.0 program language. The result of the information system design with Visual Basic 6.0 program language was the process of book lend and give-back process could be done easily since the new system contain Microsoft Access database as an accurate, clear, and originality guaranteed data savings, moreover, the needed information can be seen anytime easily. <![CDATA[Abstract In this paper we discuss "Motion Graphic Loading to Introduce Libraries to Elementary School Students". This paper aims to introduce libraries to elementary school students. The purpose of writing describes the making of motion graphics to introduce libraries to elementary school students. Writing this paper is done with 6 stages of making motion graphics. Based on the analysis of the data, it was concluded that the stages of making motion graphics are as follows. (1) concept, namely determining product specifications, namely title, duration, goals, objectives and final results; (2) design is the stage of making a graphic graphic specifically that is visualized through images; (3) collecting material is the stage of collecting materials according to what will be done; (4) assembly is the stage of making all objects by designing, animating and compositting; (5) the testing stage is the motion graphic testing stage that has been made; (6) distribution is the final stage of product packaging and distribution.Keywords: motion graphic, introducing the library]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this paper is to describe: (1) the activities carried out by the students of class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang in the school library, (2) the use of literature by the students of class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang in the school library, and (3) the constraints faced by students of class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang in utilizing literature. Data were collected through observation and interviews with the students of class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang. Analyzing data descriptively. By analyzing the data, it was concluded the following. First, the activities carried class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang in the library are learning as well as searching and sorting of information to support learning activities that can add insight and knowledge of students. Second, the use of literature by the students of class XI IPS SMA 6 Padang with how to read and understand literature as a source of information that students need to have. Third, the constraints faced by students who utilize the literature are: (1) the existing literature in the library is not complete and many are obsolete, (2) the available literature in the library of SMA Negeri 6 Padang is limited so do not have time to look for it, and (3) students do not use the library as a primary source of learning because they think it easier to use electronic media such as the Internet. <![CDATA[The purposes of this article are to describe: (1) the effectiveness of the implementation storytelling library materials for early childhood in the Library of Bung Hatta Bukittinggi; (2) the obstacles in the implementation of the effectiveness of storytelling activities of library materials for early childhood and how efforts to overcome these obstacles. Data were collected through observation in the Library of Bung Hatta Bukittinggi and interviews with one person librarian Library of Bung Hatta Bukittinggi and five early childhood. Analyzing data descriptively. Based on the data analysis and interviews, can be summarized as follows. First, the implementation of storytelling in the Library of Bung Hatta Bukittinggi an effective activity to increase the number of early childhood visits to the library from 25 people to 35 people and indirectly foster interest in reading to young children. Second, constraints in these storytelling activities carried out in the form of the small number of early childhood visits to the library and the lack of an invitation from parents to their children to the library makes the library's storytelling activities, as well as the efforts made by the Library of Bung Hatta Bukittinggi to overcome these obstacles be prepared all that makes this storytelling activities run with the maximum because the library has supplied children's reading room in which there are books, magazines, and other collections specifically for early childhood and made a number of visits early childhood become more increase from the previous activity executed storytelling, storytelling activities thus bringing the total number of early childhood visits to the library to be more effective. Keywords : effectiveness, storytelling, early childhood]]>

<![CDATA[This paper discusses about the making of an annotated index of the newspaper about Pesisir Selatan tourism collection of the Library Archives and Library Department of Pesisir Selatan Regency. The purpose of this paper are (1)to see how the condition of newspaper collections in the Office of Archives and the Library of the South Coast (2) to describe the proces of making an annotated index of newspapers on tourism in the Archives and Library Department in the Pesisir Selatan. The Making of newspaper indexes in 2016-2017 in the Archives and Library Department in Pesisir Selatan was done by collecting data directly from the original source, ie newspapers in the Archives and Library Department in the Pesisir Selatan. The type of research was making of an annotated index of newspapers about Pesisir Selatan tourism collection of Library of Archives and Library Department of Pesisir Selatan Regency which conducted in this paper by using descriptive method that was done by collecting data directly from the original source, namely newspapers in the Office of Archives and Library of Pesisir Selatan Regency . Based on data analysis, it concluded that (1) In a effort to optimize and utilize libraries in finding information, an information-seeking tool was required to index newspaper-annotated articles that describe the entire information contained in newspaper articles; (2) index as inormation seaching tool, especially for newspapers in the office of archives and library department in the Pesisir Selatan was expected to help the user in finding the information needed accurately and quickly.Keyword: annotated index, newspaper, tourism.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstractThis paper contains a discussion of how to use the archive classification code at PT Semen Padang and the preparation of a guidebook for the use of archive classification codes at the PT Semen Padang Archives Unit. The preparation of this manual aims to assist employees at PT Semen Padang in using the archive classification code in accordance with their respective work units. The research method used in writing this thesis paper is a descriptive research method. Data collection techniques carried out by means of observation and interviews. The subject of data collection was through observation in the PT Semen Padang Archives Unit. Observation was carried out by looking at how the employee's understanding was in giving the classification code of the archive. Subsequently interviews were conducted with employees at the PT Semen Padang Archives Unit. The author conducts a question and answer session with employees directly regarding the use of the archive classification code, the constraints faced in using the classification code, and the solutions to these constraints. Based on these results it can be concluded that the preparation of the archival classification code guidebook is actually to assist employees in providing archival classification codes properly and correctly. In the archive classification code manual in the PT Semen Padang Archives Unit, it can be concluded that the steps in preparing the archive classification code manual are: (1) needs analysis, based on the needs of employees in using the archive classification code as well as efforts to overcome obstacles encountered. (2) product design, to find out what are the points that will be explained in the preparation of the archive classification code manual made in the form of a chart. (3) product compilation, the process of compiling the product manual is the use of archive classification codes. With the archive classification code manual in PT Semen Padang's Filing Unit, it can help employees to avoid finding errors in archiving and is easy to find again.Keywords: classification code, archive, guide book]]>
