ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this study was categorized into three. First, to describe the reading skills in understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Second, to describe the writing skills of a short story for the second year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang. Third, to describe the contribution of reading short story comprehension into the writing skills of a short story made by the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang. The design of this research was quantitative with a descriptive method. Then, this study also was a correlational design. The population of this study was the second - grade students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang in the academic year 2018/2019 for about 232 students. The sample of this study was taken by using a proportional random sampling technique (20%), which was 46 students. The data of this study were the results of reading skills tests for understanding short story texts and the results of the text writing short story texts. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure reading skills in understanding short story texts and performance tests to measure short story texts writing skills. There were several results of this study. First, the writing skill of the short story text of the second-year students at SMK NegeriÂ Padang was more than adequate (LdC). Second, reading skills understanding the short text of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang was in a Good qualification (B). Third, reading skills understanding the short story of the second-year students at SMK Negeri 9 Padang contributed 72.1% to the short story writing skills of the second year students of SMK Negeri 9 Padang.Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Kata Kunci: Kontribusi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Teks Cerpen, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Cerpen

ABSTRACTÂ This research was conducted to describe the ineffectiveness of sentences in the text of the report on the observation of seventh grade students of State Middle School 2 Koto XI Tarusan based on sentence structure. to describe the ineffectiveness of sentences in the report text of the observation of class VII students of State Middle School 2 Koto XI Tarusan based on word choice. to describe the ineffectiveness of the sentence in the text of the report on the observations of class VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Koto XI Tarusan based on the spelling used (EBI). This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data of this study are the sentences contained in the text of student observation reports. Data were analyzed by steps, namely (1) researchers investigating data sources, (2) investigating effective sentences, (3) analyzing collected data based on indicators of effective sentence assessment, (4) data analysis results examined by triangulation informants, (5 ) draw a conclusion. Based on the sentence obtained from 30 text reports on student observations. The researcher found that 182 sentences contained 115 ineffective sentences and 67 effective sentences. The ineffectiveness of the sentence caused by the sentence structure of 31 sentences. The ineffectiveness of the sentence is caused by the choice of 73 sentences. The ineffectiveness of the sentence caused by 88 sentences of using the EBI spelling.Â Kata Kunci: Ketidakefektifan Kalimat, Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi

ABSTRACT This study had three proposes. First, describing the studentsâ€™ understanding of short story of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai. Second, describing the studentsâ€™ writing ability of short story. Third, describing the correlation between studentsâ€™ understanding short story and their writing ability of short story of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai. The type of this research was quantitative with descriptive method. The design used in this study was correlational design. The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai academic year 2018/2019, which was 195 students. The sample in this study was determined by propotional random sampling of 20% of participation, which is 40 students. The results of this study were devided intoÂ three. First, the ability to understand the short story text of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai was in accordance with good qualifications (B). Second, the studentsâ€™ writing ability of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai in accordance with the qualifications weremore than enough (LdC). Third, there was a correlation between studentsâ€™ understanding short story and their writing ability of short story of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Batang Anai with a degree of freedom n-1 at the level of 95% confidence. Tcount (4.50) was biggerthan t table (1.68), that was tcount> t table (4.50> 1.68) thus H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted because the test results prove that tcount was bigger than t table.Â Kata Kunci: korelasi, keterampian memahami teks cerpen , menulis teks cerpen

ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this study is three. First, describe comprehension reading skills. Second, describe explanatory text writing skills. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehension skills with explanatory text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive method. The design of this study is correlational design. The study population was registered in 2018/2019, which is 287 students. The research sample was proportional random sampling of 20% of the population of 57 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the results of comprehension reading skills tests and scores on the results of explanatory text writing skills. The instrument of this study was an objective test to measure comprehension reading skills and performance tests to measure writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, reading comprehension skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang are of good qualification (B). Second, explanatory text writing skills of class XI students of SMA Adabiah Padang are of good qualification (B). Third, there is a correlation of reading comprehension skills with explanatory text writing skills with n-1 freedom degrees at the 95% confidence level. The value of tcount (38.54) is greater than t table (1.66) that is tcount> ttable (38.54> 1.68) thus H0Â is rejected and H1. Based on the results of these studies it was concluded that reading comprehension skills correlated with explanatory text writing skills. ABSTRACTÂ The purpose of this studyÂ is three. First, to describeÂ the contribution of reading habits to the writing textÂ expositionÂ skills of class VIII students of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. Second, to describe the contribution of learning motivation to the writing exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. Third, describe the contribution of reading habits and learning motivation to the writing skills of exposition students of VIII grade SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. This type of research is quantitative research using descriptive methods and correlational designs. The population in this study were students of class VIII of the SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNPÂ 2018/2019 academic year totaling 167 people. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling, 25% of the population, namely 43 students. The data of this study were scores on the results of the reading habits questionnaire, scores on the results of the questionnaire of learning motivation, and the results of the test of writing the text of the esposition. The instruments used in this study were reading habits questionnaire, learning motivation questionnaire, and performance tests to measure exposition text writing skills. There are three research results in this study. First, reading habit significantly contributes to the writing skills of exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 15.21%. Secondly, motivation to learn significantly contributed to the writing skills of exposition students of VIII grade at SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 30.25%. Third, reading habits and learning motivation together contribute to the writing skills of exposition text students of class VIII of SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP by 35.35%.Â Kata kunci:Â Kontribusi, Kebiasaan Membaca, Motivasi Belajar,Â Keterampilan Menulis Teks Eksposisi

ABSTRACTÂ This article has written the contribution of appreciative reading skills in fairy tale texts to the skills of producing short story text in class VII students of SMP 26 Padang. This research is quantitative research using descriptive methods and contribution research designs. The research data is a score of appreciative short story text reading skills and short story text test scores. Data is obtained through two types of tests, namely objective tests that use short story texts that write. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, the researcher concluded the following three things; first, the average score of appreciative reading skills reads short story texts of students in class VII Padang 26 Junior High School in good qualification (82.01). Second, the average score of short story text students who write students in class VII of Padang 26 Junior High School is in good qualification (79.17). Third, there is a significant contribution between the ability to read short story texts that are appreciative of students who write short story text students in class VII of Padang 26 Junior High School as much as 84.82%.Â Kata Kunci: kontribusi, kemampuan, membaca apresiatif, menulis, teks cerpen

Â ABSTRACTÂ This research was conducted to describe the types of figures and techniques for the presentation of the characters used in the short text of grade IX SMP Negeri 21 Padang. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data of this study are qualitative data in the form of the use of types of figures and techniques for the presentation of the character's character in the students' short stories. The data were analyzed by steps, namely (1) the researcher identified a general description of the data analyzed as well as coding the text, (2) inventorying the research data coding, (3) analyzing the characters and characterizing short story texts by students, (4) interpreting data based on theory and conclude the findings then write the report. Based on the results of the study, the results of the research there were two. First, the types of figures that tend to be used by grade IX SMP Negeri 21 Padang in the short story texts written are additional figures, protagonists, simple characters, static figures and neutral figures. Second, the technique of presenting figures that tends to be used by IX grade students at SMP Negeri 21 Padang in writing short stories is analytical techniques, action techniques, and word techniques.Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Kata Kunci: Tokoh, Penokohan, Teks Cerpen

ABSTRACTÂ This study aims to (1) describe the values of character education contained, (2) describe the values of character education that often appear in, (3) describe character education values which rarely appears, and (4) describes the values of character education that are not in the short stories of the Singgalang Daily newspaper. The method used in this research is descriptive method. Based on the results of the study, the values of character education studied in the short story of the Singgalang Daily newspaper were found. First, the short stories contained in the Singgalang Daily newspaper contain eighteen values of character education, namely the value of religious character education, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creative, democratic, independent, curiosity, national spirit, love for the country , appreciates achievement, is friendly/communicative, loves peace, likes to read, cares about the environment, cares for the social, and takes responsibility. Second, the value of character education that often arises is the value of friendly/ communicative character education. Third, character education values that rarely emerge are the spirit of nationalism, love of peace, and love to read.Â Kata kunci: nilai, pendidikanÂ karakter, cerpen, koran, Harian Singgalang

ABSTRACT Â The purpose of this study is to describe the velues of character education in Tere Liyeâ€™s novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The type of this study is qualitative research with descriptive method and using triangulation technique to validate the data. The research data is in the form of words, phrases, sentences, and discourses that show the actions of the characters, the words of the characters and the narrator, which indicate the values of character education found in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin. The data collection technique of this study is to read and understand Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin then recording the data related to character education values in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin in the form of units of events from characterâ€™s behavior. The data analysis technique of this research is describing the values of character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin which is seen in a unit of character events, classifying, analyzing data, interpreting, and compiling reports.As the results of the research founded 72 values of character education, namely 5 values of religious character education, 17 values of hard work character education, 4 values of independent character education, 6 values of curiosity character education, 5 values of education value achievement, 9 values of friendly character education, 3 values of character education are fond of reading, 15 values of moral value character education, and 8 values of education responsibility. The most dominant valueof character education in Tere Liye's novel Daun yang Jatuh ismoral value character education as much as 15 data.Â Kata kunci: Nilai, Pendidikan Karakter, Novel Daun yang Jatuh Tak Pernah Membenci Angin

ABSTRACTÂ This study aims to describe students short story writing skills using the master copy technique and mind mapping techniques. This type of research is quantitative with analytical descriptive method. Research sampling is done by purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to collect data in this study is the performance test, which is writing short story texts. The research data ini the form of short story writing skills using the master copy technique and mind mapping technique. The research data collection technique is by analyzing students short story writing skills by apllying the master copy technique and mind mapping technique. Indicators used to assess short story writing skills, namely structure, instrinsic elements, and linguistic elements.Â Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that. First, short story writing skills using the master copy the technique of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang public high school 2 are in good qualification because the average value of short story text writing skills using the master copy technique is 82.07. Second, short story writing skills using mind mapping techniques of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang 2 high school are in excellent qualifications because the average value of short story writing skills using mind mapping technique is 88.26. Third, based on the calculated average values for the two texts, there is a significant different between the short story writing skills using the master copy technique of the eleventh grade students of Padang Panjang 2 high school.Kata kunciÂ : keterampilan menulis, teks cerpen, copy the master, mind mapping
