Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has had a significant impact on the world of education, including in the process of physical education learning. Learning, which was previously only done conventionally, has now shifted towards digitization and the use of application-based technology. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of mobile application-based blended learning in improving students' cognitive and affective competencies in physical education. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a pre-test and post-test control group design. The research subjects consisted of 60 high school students divided into two groups, namely the experimental group (n=30) who used mobile application-based blended learning and the control group (n=30) who used conventional learning. The results showed that the experimental group experienced an increase in cognitive scores from 56.4 to 82.7 and affective scores from 60.1 to 85.3. Meanwhile, the control group experienced an increase in cognitive scores from 55.8 to 69.4 and affective scores from 59.7 to 70.2. The t-test results showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). This study concluded that mobile application-based blended learning is effective in improving students' cognitive and affective competencies.

Abstract

Problems in badminton learning and training in elementary schools are still commonly found in long service skills, such as incorrect stroke techniques, lack of arm strength, and inaccurate shuttlecock direction. One form of physical training that is thought to affect long service skills is push-up training. This study aims to determine the effect of push-up training on long service skills in elementary school extracurricular students. The research method used is a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The research subjects consisted of 15 fourth and fifth grade students who participated in badminton extracurricular activities at UPT SD Negeri 060879. Data collection techniques were carried out through a badminton long service test conducted before (pretest) and after (posttest) the push-up training treatment for six weeks. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results showed an increase in badminton long service ability after push-up training, with a pretest average score of 22.06 and an increase to 39.46 on the posttest. These findings indicate that push-up training has a positive effect on improving students' badminton long service ability. Thus, push-up training can be used as an alternative physical exercise to support the improvement of basic badminton skills in elementary schools.

Abstract

Backstroke swimming is a sport that requires body coordination, core muscle strength, and efficient breathing and movement techniques. Abdominal muscle strength plays a crucial role in maintaining body stability on the water surface and improving movement efficiency. Sit-ups, a form of abdominal muscle strengthening, are thought to positively impact backstroke performance. This literature review aims to analyze previous research on the relationship between sit-up training and improved backstroke performance. The literature reviewed was sourced from national and international journals in the fields of sports and physiology. The results indicate that programmed sit-ups can increase abdominal muscle strength, improve posture, and enhance arm and leg propulsion efficiency. Integrating sit-ups with core exercises such as planks, leg raises, and dynamic movements yields optimal benefits. However, further experimental research is needed to measure the direct impact on speed, energy efficiency, and body stability in the water. This review provides a theoretical basis for coaches to design more effective backstroke training programmed.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the giant set training method in the fat loss program on Argo Gym Fitness members. The results of the study can provide an empirical picture of the effect of this method on weight loss and body fat levels. In addition, this study also aims to provide scientific contributions in the field of fitness science, especially in developing effective and efficient training strategies for the community. This type of research uses a quantitative experimental method with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The population of this study was Argo Gym members with a total of ± 60 people. The sampling technique was Purposive Sampling. The sample in this study were members aged 18-27 years at Argo Gym, totaling 10 people. The research instrument used a body composition measuring tool (Karada Scan), observation sheets and exercise records. Data collection techniques used pre-test and post-test. Data analysis techniques in this study used descriptive analysis and inferential analysis (paired sample t- test). The giant set method has been proven effective in reducing body fat percentage. This is evidenced by a decrease in average body fat from 29.87% in the pretest to 28.94% in the posttest. This change was also statistically significant with a p-value of 0.017 (p < 0.05). This study concluded that giant set training positively contributed to improved body composition and recommended its integration into exercise programs aimed at reducing fat and improving fitness.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) stretching on improving vertical jump performance during smash jumps in volleyball players at SMA Kesatuan Bangsa Yogyakarta. The study employed an experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants were male volleyball players involved in extracurricular activities. The research instrument was a vertical jump test to measure lower limb strength before and after the intervention. The treatment consisted of a structured training program combined with PNF stretching. Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and a paired sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that PNF stretching had a significant effect on increasing vertical jump performance. Therefore, PNF stretching can be recommended as an effective alternative training method to enhance smash jump performance in high school volleyball players.
