Abstract

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a crucial emergency intervention that significantly improves survival rates in patients experiencing cardiac arrest or other life-threatening conditions. Primary healthcare facilities often serve as the first point of contact for emergency cases, making it essential for healthcare workers to possess adequate BLS skills. However, variations in training frequency and experience affect the proficiency of healthcare workers in performing BLS effectively. This study aims to analyze the impact of BLS training for healthcare workers in primary care settings on patient outcomes in emergency situations. A literature review and data analysis were conducted to assess the correlation between BLS training and patient outcomes, focusing on survival rates, response time, and procedural effectiveness. Data were collected from various studies, training programs, and case reports related to emergency response in primary healthcare settings. The findings indicate that healthcare workers who receive regular and structured BLS training demonstrate improved knowledge, faster response times, and higher success rates in emergency interventions. Patients treated by trained healthcare workers have better survival rates and reduced complications compared to those treated by untrained personnel. Additionally, the frequency of refresher courses and hands-on simulation training play a significant role in maintaining BLS competency.BLS training for healthcare workers in primary care settings significantly enhances emergency response efficiency and improves patient outcomes. Regular and systematic training programs should be implemented to ensure that healthcare professionals remain proficient in life-saving techniques. This study highlights the need for policy improvements in BLS education to optimize emergency medical care at the primary healthcare level.

Abstract

Primary healthcare facilities play a crucial role in delivering rapid and effective healthcare services, especially in managing medical emergencies. These emergency situations require a swift response and well-coordinated teamwork among various healthcare professionals. Interprofessional competencies can be enhanced through scenario-based simulations, allowing healthcare providers to train in a safe yet realistic environment. This article discusses strategies for implementing simulations to improve communication skills, team coordination, and healthcare professionals’ decision-making abilities. Simulations not only enhance healthcare workers' preparedness in emergency situations but also help reduce medical errors and improve patient safety. Through a systematic approach and continuous training, primary healthcare facilities can ensure that their healthcare providers possess optimal competencies in emergency management. Furthermore, the integration of technology in simulations, such as augmented reality and virtual reality, further strengthens the effectiveness of training. Therefore, incorporating simulations in interprofessional competency enhancement should be a key component of routine training policies for medical personnel in primary healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Acute heart failure (AHF) is a serious medical condition that requires immediate treatment in the emergency department (ED). This study aims to analyze the severity of AHF and the response to therapy given in the ED. This retrospective study involved 150 patients diagnosed with AHF in the ED of Lubuk Pakam General Hospital during the period of January 2023 to December 2024. Demographic data, clinical outcomes, and response to therapy were taken from patient medical records. The results showed that 60% of patients had high severity AHF, while the other 40% of patients had moderate severity. The most common initial therapies given were diuretics (80%), vasodilators (60%), and inotropics (40%). Analysis of the response to therapy showed that 70% of patients showed significant clinical improvement within the first 48 hours. Factors that influenced the response to therapy included age, comorbidities, and delay in treatment. This study concluded that the severity of AHF and response to therapy varied widely in the ED, and rapid and appropriate intervention is essential to improve patient clinical outcomes.

Abstract

Neurological emergencies, such as acute stroke and head trauma, require prompt and accurate treatment to reduce the risk of complications and death. Effective interprofessional collaboration among medical teams can expedite referral times and improve patient outcomes. This study aims to evaluate the impact of interprofessional collaboration on the referral time of patients with neurological emergencies. This study uses a quantitative design with an observational analytic approach. The sample consists of 120 patients referred with neurological emergencies across several hospitals. Data were collected through observations of interprofessional interaction frequency and communication, as well as recording referral times Analysis was performed using correlation tests to identify the impact of interprofessional collaboration on referral time. The results show that effective interprofessional collaboration is associated with shorter referral times. Patients referred by teams with good communication between medical professions had an average referral time 25 minutes faster than those with lower collaboration. Communication barriers, such as differences in professional disciplines and lack of coordination, were found to delay referral times. Effective interprofessional collaboration can reduce referral times for patients with neurological emergencies. Therefore, improving interprofessional teamwork in hospitals is essential to expedite patient management and reduce the risk of complications.

Abstract

Breast milk production in post partum mothers can be increased through various methods, namely aromatherapy, oxytocin massage and oketani massage. Oketani massage is a massage that can increase breast milk production by increasing the strength of the pectoralis muscles, resulting in softer and more elastic breasts, making it easier for babies to breastfeed. When mothers have a positive perception of the use of oketani massage, they feel more confident and see an increase in their baby's ability to breastfeed compared to before. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of giving oketani massage on increasing breast milk production (ASI) in post partum mothers at the Pratama Nining Pelawati Clinic. The data collection technique was carried out using an incidental sampling technique. The method used is quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and presented in narrative and table form. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of giving oketani massage in increasing breast milk production in Post Partum mothers at the Pratama Nining Pelawati Clinic with p-value = 0.004 (p<0.05). It is recommended that health workers consider implementing oketani massage as part of a postpartum care program to increase breast milk production

Abstract

Nutritional status during this period, especially in women of childbearing age, is influenced by several things, including the use of contraceptives. Side effects of using contraception include excess weight gain which can cause various diseases. Meanwhile, long-term impacts for families who do not use contraception can be in the form of increasing population, food and nutrition shortages, low education, lack of job opportunities, high birth and death rates. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of contraceptive use on nutritional status in women of childbearing age. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional design. The research sample consisted of 225 respondents using Eta Squared test data analysis. The results of the study show that contraceptive use has a positive and significant effect on nutritional status (p = 0.24), which means that the hypothesis is accepted if F count > F table (p = 0.05) at a certain probability. Suggestions for future researchers are to pay attention to other factors so that the nutritional status of women of childbearing age remains normal even though they use contraception
