Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the horticultural crops with high economic value and good market potential. However, its growth and yield can be affected by low soil fertility, particularly limited organic matter and nutrient availability. Gamal leaves (Gliricidia sepium) contain essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which have the potential to be used as raw material for liquid organic fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the effect of different concentrations of gamal leaf liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of eggplant. The research was conducted from January to May 2026 using a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of P0 = 0 ml/L water, P1 = 50 ml/L water, P2 = 100 ml/L water, P3 = 150 ml/L water, and P4 = 200 ml/L water. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, fruit length, and fruit weight per plant. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance at the 5% level, followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test when significant differences were found. The results showed that gamal leaf liquid organic fertilizer affected the growth and yield of eggplant. The best treatment was P3 with a concentration of 150 ml/L water, which produced the highest plant height, number of leaves, fruit length, and fruit weight. Therefore, gamal leaf liquid organic fertilizer at 150 ml/L water can be recommended as an effective organic fertilizer to support eggplant cultivation

Abstract

The use of synthetic pesticides in pest control strategies is still popular and widely practiced by farmers today. Unfortunately, excessive use of synthetic pesticides brings a lot of negative impact for the environment and human health. Therefore, another more environmentally friendly approaches are needed, such as the use of biological control agent such as entomopathogenic bacteria. This study aims to explore the potential of bacteria from the soil of durian Loji (Durio sp.) plantation in Karawang Regency as a candidate for biological control agent. Soil sampling was carried out in the root areas of durian plants, and bacteria were isolated and tested for mortality using the food dipping method on Tenebrio molitor larvae. This study used a single-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 8 treatments and 3 replications. This study showed that some local bacterial isolates such as ID6, ID4, and ID2 has a mortality effect to the T. molitor larvae, and the result was significantly different compare to other isolates. Isolate ID6 produced the highest average mortality of Tenebrio molitor at 90% on the last day of observation with the lowest LT50 value of 4.48 days. This research indicates that isolates ID6, ID4, and ID2 are potential as the candidates for biological control agents which are environmentally friendly to support sustainable agriculture practices

Abstract

The productivity of samhong mustard greens still requires improvement, however the excessive use of synthetic plant growth regulators (PGRs) can lead to environmental pollution and health risks. Natural PGRs derived from local biological materials have the potential to serve as an environmentally friendly alternative for horticultural crops. This study aimed to analyze the effects and determine the best concentrations of extracts derived from water hyacinth roots, shallots, and banana corms on the growth of samhong mustard greens. The research used was a Single-Factor Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with seven treatments and four replications: P0 (Control), P1 (Water Hyacinth Root PGR 75 ml/L), P2 (Water Hyacinth Root PGR 150 ml/L), P3 (Shallot PGR 10 ml/L), P4 (Shallot PGR 20 ml/L), P5 (Banana Corm PGR 80 ml/L), and P6 (Banana Corm PGR 160 ml/L). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (F-test) at the 5% significance level, followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) where significant effects were observed. The results indicated that the application of natural PGRs significantly influenced plant height at 28 and 35 days after planting (DAP), with the best results obtained under treatment P3 (Shallot PGR at 10 ml/L)

Abstract

Ultisol is an acidic soil with relatively low nutrient content, requiring soil improvement efforts to support plant growth. One alternative is the application of oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) biochar combined with nitrogen fertilizer. This study aimed to determine the combination of OPEFB biochar and nitrogen fertilizer doses that provides optimal growth of pakcoy (*Brassica rapa* L.) cv. Nauli F1 grown on Ultisol soil. The study was conducted from February to July 2025 on agricultural land located on Jl. Raya Teluk Jambe, Sirnabaya, Telukjambe Timur. The research used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with a single treatment factor consisting of nine treatments and three replications, resulting in 27 experimental units. The treatments consisted of combinations of OPEFB biochar at 0, 10, and 20 tons/ha and nitrogen fertilizer at 0, 200, 300, and 400 kg/ha. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% significance level when significant differences were detected. The results showed that the combination of OPEFB biochar and nitrogen fertilizer significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter at 14, 21, and 27 days after planting (DAP). Treatment I (20 tons/ha OPEFB biochar + 400 kg/ha nitrogen fertilizer) resulted in 24.58 cm plant height, 15.07 leaves, and 7.65 mm stem diameter at 27 DAP. The combination of 20 tons/ha OPEFB biochar and 400 kg/ha nitrogen fertilizer has the potential to improve pakcoy growth.

Abstract

One way to manage dry land in providing water for plants is fertilization. Fertilization or the application of organic materials directly to the soil can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. Fertilizer and water can work together to increase the growth of avocado plants, fertilizer can help store water in the soil and improve soil quality. This study aims to obtain the optimal integrated fertilizer dose and sufficient watering intervals for the growth of pre-generative avocados (Persea americana). The expected outputs are journals and sub-books. The study used a randomized block design (RAK). Fertilization treatment (P) consists of nine treatments, namely: 1) 2 kg chicken manure fertilizer + 2 gr NPK + watered once when planting 2) 2 kg chicken manure fertilizer + 2 gr NPK + watered once in 3 days, 3) 2 kg chicken manure fertilizer + 2 gr NPK + watered once in 5 days, 4) 2 kg chicken manure fertilizer + 3 gr NPK + watered once in 3 days, 5). 2 kg of chicken manure + 3 g of NPK + watered once every 5 days, 6) 2.5 kg of chicken manure + 2.5 g of NPK + watered once every 3 days, 7) 2.5 kg of chicken manure + 2.5 g of NPK + watered once every 5 days, 8) 3 kg of chicken manure + 2 g of NPK + watered once every 3 days, 9) 3 kg of chicken manure + 2 g of NPK + watered once every 5 days. This RAK was repeated 4 (four) times, resulting in a total of 36 experimental plants. The experimental design used was a randomized block design (RAK) with a single factor of fertilization. The research parameters were plant height, number of tertiary branches, total N, and soil invertase activity
