Abstract

The use of land without a good management lead to land destruction and environmental damage. Prevention should  be done by soil conservation. The objective of this research was to estimate the level of soil erosion in the upstream of watershed area of Wai Illa by using a survey method for field observations and USLE (Universal Soil Loos Equation) method to predict the amount of eroded soil. The results showed that the existing land use in areas of research was mixed farms, and scrub with a low level of soil damage on land L433 unit1 and high slopes on the land slopes L533 unit 4. It was predicted that actual annual erosion ranged from 16.524 t/ha up to 315.659 t/ha.

Abstract

Weeds in rice fields decrease the quantity and quality of yield. One of the methods used to control weeds is chemical herbicide. The objective of this research was to find out the effective dosages of herbicide Ethoxysulfuron 15 WG on weeds growth as well as growth and yield of rice plants var. Ciherang. This experiment was used Randomized Block Design with seven treatments and four replication. The Ethoxysulfuron doses trated to rice field  6 g/ha,  9 g/ha, 12 g/ha, 15 g/ha and 18 g/ha. The two control treatments were  mechanical weeding, and without weeding and herbicide. The experimental result showed that Ethoxusylfuron herbicide with the dosage of 9 g/ha could suppress the growth of weed Ludwigia adscendens, Ludwigia perrenis, Fimbristylis miliacea,other weeds, and total weeds and give a good impact on yield of rice plants.

Abstract

Cucumber is consumed regularly by inhabitants of Buru District of the Maluku Province, and, its productivity needs to be optimized. Soil tillage and plant density in cucumber cultivation have Influences on competition for nutrient intake, water and light and hence affect plant yield. The aim of this field experiment was to study growth and yield responses of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) on different soil tillage systems and planting densities. The field experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Block Design to examine several tillage methods (one and two) and planting densities (25 x 25 cm, 40 x 40 cm and 45 x 55 cm). The experimental results showed that there was no effect of interaction between soil tillage and planting density on all variable observed. Single and double tillage methods increased fruit number, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit weight and root length of cucumber, while planting density gave no effect on all variables measured. Therefore, either single or double tillages and any planting densities tested in this experiment could be recommended in cucumber cultivation in Buru District of Maluku Province.

Abstract

Komoditas hortikultura yang berkontribusi terhadap ekonomi Jawa Barat adalah pisang meja dan pisang. Keragaman dan produktivitas pisang tertinggi terdapat di Jawa Barat Selatan. Petani menganggap pisang cukup ditanam tanpa cukup nutrisi dan  pemeliharaan sehingga produksi pisang belum optimal. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kendala umum budidaya pisang dan menginventarisasi metode budidaya pisang di kebun petani di tiga Kabupaten Jawa Barat Selatan. Metode kajian adalah diskusi kelompok terfokus dan studi lapangan yang didukung oleh data primer dan sekunder. Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa sejumlah faktor sumber daya alam, metode budidaya, pemasaran, perilaku, kebijakan pemerintah menjadi kendala produksi pisang yang lebih layak. Metode budidaya pisang yang dilakukan petani tradisional belum mencakup seluruh aspek budidaya terstandard yang dianjurkan kementrian pertanian. Peningkatan pengetahuan dan kapasitas petani serta  pendampingan budidaya dalam jangka waktu pendek diperlukan untuk memperbaiki sistem budidaya pisang.Kata kunci: Metode Budidaya, Pisang, Petani Lokal, Jawa Barat Selatan

Abstract

Penggunaan mikroba sebagai pupuk hayati untuk meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman merupakan tindakan budidaya yang efisien, ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pupuk hayati konsorsium yang berasal dari akar bambu (PHK-AB), akar rumput gajah (PHK-ARG) dan pupuk hayati konsorsium Bion Up (PHK-Bion Up) dengan konsentrasi berbeda terhadap populasi total jamur dan bakteri; dan ketersediaan unsur hara makro pada tanah entisol setelah tanaman sawi.  Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah tanpa perlakuan (kontrol); aplikasi PHK-Bion UP, PHK-AB dan PHK-ARG masing-masing dengan dengan konsentrasi 1%, 1,5%, dan 2%.  Hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa pemberian pupuk hayati konsorsium Bion  UP, pupuk hayati asal akar bambu dan pupuk hayati konsorsium asal akar rumput gajah dapat : (1) menurunkan populasi total jamur tetapi meningkatkan populasi total bakteri; (2) pH dan kandungan N-total tanah tidak mengalami perubahan; (3) kandungan P2O5 dan K2O tersedia tanah mengalami peningkatan.  Pnelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa perbedaan konsentrasi antara pupuk hayati tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap populasi total jamur dan bakteri, pH, kandungan N-total, dan kandungan P2O5 dan K2O tersedia tanah.Kata kunci: akar bambo, akar rumput gajah, biokontrol, pupuk hayati.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim yang terus terjadi hingga saat ini telah memberikan dampak terhadap berbagai segi kehidupan; termasuk sektor pertanian. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menentukan tren perubahan curah hujan, pemetaan klasifikasi iklim Schmidt-Ferguson yang baru, dan menentukan kesesuaian iklim tanaman pala di Pulau Seram.  Penelitian ini menggunakan data curah hujan berbagai lokasi di Pulau Seram selama 60 tahun pengamatan.  Analisis data terdiri dari: (1) analisis pola curah hujan dan membangkitkan data curah hujan menggunakan teknik rataan aljabar, (2) analisis tren perubahan curah hujan, (3) pemetaan klasifikasi iklim, dan (4) penentuan kesesuaian iklim tanaman pala.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Pulau Seram telah terjadi peningkatan curah hujan rataan tahunan dalam 30 tahun terakhir (periode 1989-2018) dibandingkan dengan priode 30 tahun sebelumnya (periode 1959-1988), yaitu sebesar 11,2 hingga 15,6%.  Di Pulau Seram terdapat tiga tipe iklim Schmidt-Ferguson, yaitu A, B, dan C.  Wilayah yang sangat sesuai untuk pengembangan tanaman pala seluas 1.035 ha atau 59% dari luas Pulau Seram dan daerah yang sesuai seluas 457 ha atau 26% dari luas Pulau Seram.  Sedangkan daerah yang kurang sesuai dan tidak sesuai untuk tanaman pala seluas 258 ha atau 15% dari luas Pulau Seram.Kata kunci:  curah hujan, Schmidt-Ferguson, kesesuaian iklim, tanaman pala, Pulau Seram

Abstract

Peningkatan kualitas pisang di Provinsi Jawa Barat bagian selatan terkendala kurangnya data kesesuaian lahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian lahan untuk pengembangan pisang dan mengevaluasi cara budidaya di lima Kabupaten Jawa Barat Selatan. Peta ketinggian tempat, peta kontur dan peta jenis tanah digunakan u tuk menentukan titik pengambilan sampel tanah. Survei lapangan untuk mengamati karakteristik sifat fisik tanah meliputi struktur, drainase, erosi, tekstur, dan kedalaman efektif perakaran, serta kondisi fisiografis yaitu ketinggian dan kelerengan. Sifat kimia tanah meliputi KTK-liat, C-Organik, tekstur, dan pH tanah. Data sifat fisik dan kimia tanah dikelompokkan untuk mendapatkan kelas keseuaian lahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesesuaian lahan aktual untuk pengembangan pisang di Jawa Barat Selatan memiliki kriteria S1 (sesuai), S2 (cukup sesuai), S3 (sesuai marginal) dan N1 (tidak sesuai pada saat ini) dengan factor pembatas yang dominan adalah temperatur, ketersediaan air dan lereng. Kesesuaian lahan yang memiliki kriteria N (tidak sesuai untuk saat ini) dengan faktor pembatas kemiringan lereng lebih dari 40%. Perbaikan lahan melalui pemberian pupuk, perbaikan irigasi dan drainase serta pembuatan teras disarankan untuk meningkatkan nilai  kesesuaian lahan.Kata kunci: budidaya pisang, evaluasi lahan, kesesuaian lahan, jawa barat

Abstract

Plant pests Spodoptera litura is one of the major insect pests that often lowers the cabbage yield. Various control techniques of this pest have been developed, such as the use of botanical pesticides. This study aimed to determine the role of aromatic plants in reducing S. litura population growth and plant damage intensity on cabbage. Experiments used intercropping combinations of cabbage-local basil (‘kemangi’), cabbage-tomato, cabbage-scallion and without aromatic plants as a control. The experimental was arranged in a Randomized Block Design. Parameters measured were larval population, damage intensity and fresh weight of cabbage crops. The results showed that all three cabbage intercropping with the aromatic plants were able to suppress population of S. litura and the resulted damage intensity of cabbage. The treatment of cabbage intercropping with local basil could reduce larval populations of S. litura (to 0.84 larvae) or only 8 larvae per 10 plants and with the lowest crop damage intensity (3.32%) and highest crop weight (486.6 g) per plant.

Abstract

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus alba) in Gunung Nona protected -forest play important roles as protective plants of erosion and flooding that often occurs in the region. However, in the last decade, the existence of the Ekaliptus stand has been under pressure due to pests with high levels of damage reducing forest cover. The study was conducted to determine the type of pests, the intensity of damage and the extent of pest attack in the Eucalyptusalba in Gunung Nona Forest. The study method was survey with10% of 20 sample trees sampling intensity. Observations on tree-level Eucalyptus stands were conducted from roots to leaves by looking at the symptoms and signs of pest attacks. The research found three types of pests, namely Ulat Grayak (Grayak Caterpillars). The highest intensity of damage is 72,37%  due to pest attacks by Spodoptera sp, 19,22% or moderate criteria by Hyposidra talacaand and 7.09% or mild criteria by Macrotermes Gilvus Hagen. While the extent of pest attack are 67,7% by Spodoptera Sp, 40,9% by Hyposidra talaca, and  15,9% by Macrotermes gilvus Hagen which is classified as strict, medium, and  mild criteria, respectivelly.

Abstract

The development of plant-based pesticides has become an effective way to suppress pest populations. The application of clove handle powder to population growth (Callosobruchus chinensis L) is important to be studied, because it is a less biodegradable pesticide with fewer residu and safer for humans and livestock. The objective of this study was to obtain an effective dose of clove (Syzygium aromaticum) powder for controlling beetles (Callosobruchus chinensis L.) in stored mung bean. The study method was a Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments of clove handle powder doses, namely control, 10 g, 15 g, 20 g, 25 g. The results showed 70% or the highest mortality rate of C. chinensis L. is found at a dose of the 25 g, with the fastest average time of death is 16 JSA, while the lowest dose of 10 g indicates 56,67% of the the mortality rate of C. chinensis L with 24 JSA time after application.
