Abstract

As a tropical country, Indonesia often faces hot air temperatures, affecting indoor comfort, including restaurants and cafes. This condition requires the development of technology that can maintain air circulation efficiently and adaptively. Conventional exhaust fans are often not compelling enough because they cannot adjust their operations to changes in environmental conditions automatically. This study uses a microcontroller to develop an automatic speed control system for exhaust fans and automatic ventilation to overcome this temperature and humidity problem. This system uses temperature and humidity sensors to detect environmental conditions, regulate fan speed with a motor driver, and control automatic ventilation via a servo motor. This system design has been realized and has been tested. The experimental results show that the system can work according to the desired parameters, provide an efficient solution for temperature and humidity control, and has the potential to be applied in various environments, especially in restaurants and cafes that require optimal air comfort.

Abstract

Polman Babel, which is one of the places for the nation's next generation to carry out the teaching and learning process in Bangka Regency, responds positively to regulations related to the No Smoking Area (KTR). This is realized by the presence of warning boards regarding the prohibition of smoking at several locations. The smoke-free area policy has been enforced, but there are still some violators and lack of awareness to comply with the regulation. To overcome this problem, a smoke detector is needed that can be used in the campus environment. A cigarette smoke detector using an MQ-135 sensor and an MQ-2 sensor that can emit a sound to encourage smokers to put out their cigarettes and leave the area was made. Detection tests were carried out with the distance of the sensor from the measured source of 1 meter to 3 meters and the calculation of the time from the appearance of smoke to the warning sound from the loudspeaker. The farther the sensor is from the smoke source, the smaller the detection value will be, depending on the position of the sensor and the smoke source. The sensor position that is accurate in detection is the sensor with the position facing down because it directly hits the smoke source. Like the nature of smoke that spreads from low places spreads towards the top.

Abstract

This study examines the design and safety analysis of an automatic liquid filling machine for bottles with two modes: 250 ml and 500 ml. The problem addressed is the time-consuming and inconsistent manual bottle filling process in UMKM. The machine is designed to improve efficiency and consistency in filling liquids for UMKM. Made from PLA filament using 3D printing, the machine has dimensions of 400 mm x 350 mm x 350 mm and was analyzed using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The load on the machine is 2.4516625 N for 250 ml and 4.903325 N for 500 ml. Simulation results show a maximum stress of 0.114 N/mm² for 250 ml and 0.118 N/mm² for 500 ml, both below the PLA material's yield strength of 26,082 N/mm². The maximum displacement is 0.002 mm for 250 ml and 0.00894819 mm for 500 ml. The minimum safety factor is 4,044e+02 for 250 ml and 1,156e+02 for 500 ml. These results confirm that the machine design is safe and reliable for automatic liquid filling in both modes.

Abstract

Cooling systems play a crucial role in maintaining the operating temperature of machines, with coolant as a key element to absorb, transfer, and release heat. This study aims to analyze the effect of coolant-water mixture concentration on its dynamic viscosity. Experiments were conducted using three different water concentrations (90%, 80%, and 60%) at a total volume of 250 mL. Data were obtained from flow time measurements through a tube of specific length and diameter, and dynamic viscosity was calculated using Poiseuille's Equation. The results indicate that higher water concentrations reduce dynamic viscosity, making the fluid flow more easily. These findings provide valuable insights for developing more efficient coolant formulations, enhancing the performance of cooling systems in various mechanical applications.

Abstract

This study focuses on the design of an automatic roll paper cutting machine using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. The objective of this research is to develop a roll paper cutting tool capable of adjusting the length and quantity of cuts. The research was conducted by gathering customer requirements through interviews, analyzing technical characteristics, and structuring them using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. Seven development priorities were identified through the creation of the House of Quality (HOQ), namely: (1) the width of the paper that can be cut, followed by (2) paper thickness, (3) power consumption, (4) cutting accuracy, (5) paper movement speed, (6) user interface (display), and (7) cutting time. The results of this study include a design concept for an automatic paper cutting machine that can adjust the length and quantity of cuts in accordance with product development priorities derived from customer requirement data.

Abstract

This study was conducted to gain deeper insight into the potential of using a digital learning platform to improve collaboration between junior high school mathematics teachers, professional development, and student learning outcomes in the context of mathematics education in junior high schools. The method used in this study was through the development and implementation of a digital learning platform that can be used collaboratively or jointly between mathematics teachers and junior high school students in Sungailiat. On the digital learning platform, teachers exchange resources and teaching activities, while students can access these resources and teaching activities. At the end of the implementation, researchers collected questionnaires to obtain information regarding the effectiveness and usefulness of the developed platform for mathematics learning in junior high schools. The measurement results on the questionnaire instrument based on the Likert scale distributed to students obtained a score of 79.37%. Meanwhile, the measurement on the teacher questionnaire obtained a score of 87.75%. Based on Sugiyono and Riduwan's interpretation categories, the range of 81% - 100% is included in the very high category and the range of 61% - 80% is included in the high category. This value shows that students and mathematics teachers have a positive view of the use of collaborative digital learning platforms in mathematics subjects for grade 7 junior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to design and develop an automatic fish feeding system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that can be applied in former tin mining pits in Bangka Belitung. The system is expected to improve feeding efficiency and reduce dependence on manual labor. The research method includes hardware design using a NodeMCU ESP32 microcontroller, a servo motor as the feed dispensing actuator, and an RTC module as the time controller. The system is equipped with a web-based IoT application for remote control and monitoring. Testing was carried out at a fish farming site located in a former mining pond, with observations on feeding schedule accuracy, feed throwing distance, and feed usage efficiency. The results showed that the system achieved 100% accuracy in feed timing based on RTC sensor readings. Feed output during multiple feeder motor rotations was stable, with an error rate of less than 1%. The pellet throwing distance at 90% motor speed reached a maximum of 6.6 meters and a minimum of 2.4 meters.The system can also be controlled remotely via the web, allowing users to schedule feeding times and monitor device status in real time from a smartphone or computer. This system has proven to be effective and feasible for freshwater fish farming in post-mining areas, supporting sustainable aquaculture development.

Abstract

A baglog mixing machine is a machine or tool used to stir oyster mushroom planting media. The aim of making this machine is to make it more effective and streamline the time and energy of oyster mushroom farmers. The ingredients contained in oyster mushroom seeds are rice bran, mahogany sawdust, rice bran and agricultural lime. For the stirring system, steel is used which is rotated using an electric motor. This machine has a door at the bottom of the container to make it easier to remove the baglog mixing results. This machine is designed to be ergonomic, easy to use and safe for operators when working on this machine. It is hoped that the existence of this oyster mushroom baglog mixing tool or machine can help increase the amount of oyster mushroom baglog production and ease the work of oyster mushroom entrepreneurs. This machine has a volume capacity of 100 kg of oyster mushroom baglog and takes 20 minutes for one stir.
