Abstract

Pepper cultivation is now very rare. One reason for this is that wood is not available for the pepper vine. These vines are usually bought or taken from the surrounding forest but now the forest has been turned into oil palm plantations and mining holes. The vine is a patch where the roots of the pepper plant can grow well. This study uses the RSM method with 20 trials of data processing and 6 times of repetition in the middle of the process. This study aims to determine the ability of banana tree fiber-reinforced composites using a polyester matrix BQTN 157 against tensile strength at the beginning of manufacture and 6 months as well as the topography of the composite fracture. The results of Tensile testing at 0 months is in the averaged of 20,595 MPa while in the following 6 months there is a decrease in Tensile strength by an average of 0.478 MPa. It means that tensile strength will decrease when the composite age increases even though the value is small. Data with RSM shows that the F-calculated F value of the model = 14.69 obtained from the significance level of 0.01 or 1%. While the Lack of Fit value that occurs is 0.229 and does not have a major effect.

Abstract

Diversification of non-rice food by utilizing existing local food sources, such as corn and tubers, is an effort to maintain food security so that food for the people of Indonesia is reflected in the availability of sufficient food, both in quantity and quality, safe, equitable and affordable. Location-specific non-rice staples can be used as the start of a revival of food diversification in the region, which is ultimately expected to reduce national rice consumption. Policy direction by developing diversification (processing) and consumption of food based on local resources. One of the potentials that can be developed to increase local food potential in Tanah Bawah, is the development of food processing made from cassava. Food products that have been produced by local villagers in the form of mocaf flour and other types of food. During this time, the production process is done manually which requires a lot of manpower and time, so it is less productive. For this reason, it is necessary to design the construction of a pulverization machine by using rack and gear mechanics that can mash the mocaf flour smoothly and evenly in an efficient way. Based on the results of the trial, this machine can mash flour evenly, smooth with a capacity of 5kg/15 minutes.

Abstract

The use of mesh types and mesh manufacturing density in a simulation play a very important role, this is because it minimizes computational time and cost and gets the desired analysis results. In this study, presents the CFD analysis of heat transfer that occurs in plastic injection mold cooling channels using polyhedral mesh. The most important part of the simulation is the select mesh types. Mesh is good, affects the calculation results of a simulation. The use of this type of mesh itself also affects the temperature field and the temperature profile that occurs in the cooling channel as well as the contour profile resolution. The use of polyhedral mesh for complex geometric shapes such as injection molds on plastic product cooling channels is able to reduce the iteration time of the simulation and can speed up the convergence of calculations, this is evidenced by the results of iteration simulation on the straight channel capable of converging at the 268th iteration of a total of about 1000 iterations and iterations of convergent conformal channel simulations on the 232nd iteration with a total of about 1000 iterations.

Abstract

Vibration measurement on moving machine components is useful to determine the feasibility of an engine. Measurements can be made using simple tools and the five senses or by using measuring devices. The results of vibration measurements are compared using standard comparisons or referring to similar machines. Measurement of vibration of knee type milling machine transmission system that has a variable speed transmission system is done by using the overall vibration value using a transducer which is placed in the radial and axial position. Measurements are taken on a variable speed system that is not indicated to have been damaged and on an engine that is indicated to have experienced damage. On machines that are not indicated to have damage, the overall axial direction is 0.363 mm / s rms and radial direction is 0.365 mm / s rms, compared to the ISO 2372 standard, the transmission system enters the area well. Measurements on the transmission system that experienced damage to the transmission shaft rotation 862 rpm axial direction has a vibration value of 4.5mm / s rms radial direction 3.47 mm / s rms, on the transmission shaft rotation 762 rpm axial direction 3.28 mm / s rms radial direction 1.68 mm / s rms, at 669 rpm axial direction 2.92mm / s rms on the transmission shaft, radial direction 1.32mm / s rms. From the measurement results on the transmission system which indicated damage, the overall vibration value at the axial rotation of the 862 rpm axial direction system is no longer eligible for operation, because based on the ISO 2372 vibration standard the vibration value has entered the area of ?? damage occurs.

Abstract

Indra penglihatan adalah galat satu sumber warta vital bagi insan. Tidak berlebihan apabila dikemukakan bahwa sebagian besar informasi yang diperoleh sang insan berasal menurut indera penglihatan, sedangkan selebihnya berasal berdasarkan panca indera yang lain. Dengan demikian, bisa dipahami apabila seorang mengalami gangguan dalam alat penglihatan, maka kemampuan aktifitasnya akan jadi sangat terbatas, karena liputan yang diperoleh akan jauh berkurang dibandingkan mereka yang berpenglihatan normal. Pada umumnya, penyandang tuna netra menggunakan alat bantu jalan berupa tongkat putih atau anjing terlatih untuk membantu pergerakan dan menaikkan keamanan dan kemandirian pada ketika berjalan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam SLB Karya Murni Medan adalah wawancara kepada ketua sekolah tentang semua pertarungan pada berjalan yang dihadapin tuna netra. Dengan mempunyai berita yang cukup, peneliti dapat mengetahui bagaimana tuna netra lebih nyaman buat bernavigasi pada lingkungan yang dikenal. Untuk mengatasi perseteruan tersebut, maka dibuatlah suatu alat yang bisa menggantikan dan menyempurnakan kiprah tongkat bantu jalan yang selama ini sudah ada. Kinerja sistem dan alat yang dirancang Dapat membantu penyandang tuna netra dengan tingkat akurasi pada sensor ultrasonik sebesar 100% pada jarak maksimum 2 meter dengan mendeteksi objek yang ada didepan dengan baik.

Abstract

Penggunaan tenaga manusia dalam mengukur dan memotong kabel secara manual membutuhkan waktu yang lama ditambah lagi jumlah kabel yang diukur dan dipotong dalam jumlah yang banyak, hal tersebut dapat memakan waktu dan tenaga manusia sehingga pekerjaan tersebut tidak efektif dan menimbulkan kerugian. Untuk itu pada penelitian ini dibuatlah suatu alat yang dapat mengukur dan memotong kabel secara otomatis dengan menggunakan Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Omron CP1E sebagai sistem kontrolnya. Pada alat pemotong kabel otomatis ini sistem monitoring dan inputannya menggunakan HMI NB7W-TW00B. Dengan dibuatnya alat ini dapat mengukur penjang kabel dan langsung memotongnya yang bersifat otomatis sehingga dapat menghemat waktu dan tenaga manusia dalam mengukur dan memotong kabel tersebut.

Abstract

Different electrode materials give big influence on the machining process. Some electrode will eliminate workpiece efficiently but that give a high wear of electrode, the others electrode have a low wear but ability to eliminate materials of workpieces are very low. Taguchi Method is method in engineering to improves the process of different workpiece characteristics and can reduce the cost and resources to a minimum. In this study, the experimental design used is the experimental design of Taguchi with Orthogonal Array design, analysis Signal to Noise Ratio to determine the factors that affect the wear of electrodes, and analysis of variance. The results of the discussion on the analysis of the Taguchi experimental design method in Process Parameters Using EDM In Identifying Electrode Wear is obtained decisive steps orthogonal matrix, analysis of the characteristics of the proposed design smaller the better quality types to determine the value of SNR, determine the value of the effect of each replication in each of the factors that affect the wear of electrodes, Variance analysis performed to interpret the experimental data to determine the EDM process parameters electrodes Optimum wear.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has the largest area of sago in the world. Sago processing is currently done manually so that the production capacity of sago that can be produced is still very low. Centrifugal decanter machine is a machine that functions to precipitate and separate sago starch in order to increase capacity and shorten production time in sago flour processing. This study was carried out by observing a sago factory in the Tanah Baru area, Bogor with the amount of wet starch that can be obtained in a day that is 800 kg. The design of this centrifugal machine is carried out using the Pahl and Beitz design method. This machine consists of six sub-assemblies consisting of the frame, the slurry unit, cover, bowl and scroll, the successor round unit, and the motor and support. Based on the design results, the construction of a centrifugal decanter machine with the ability to precipitate and separate sago starch with a capacity of 8.5 m3/ hour with a bowl diameter of 195 mm and a pool height of 10mm. The deposition process occurs with the centrifugal force in the bowl with a rotational speed of 3000 rpm which is driven by an electric motor with a capacity of 7.5 HP (5.5 kW). Separation of starch with liquid occurs due to the difference in the rotation of the resulting screw to the bowl of 33 rpm. The rotation mechanism on the scroll is produced by different electric motors with 3 HP (2.2 kW) power.

Abstract

This study aims to implement a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) for diagnosis and recommendations for the maintenance and repair of machines in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Polman Negeri Bangka Belitung. The research begins with the process of collecting data for knowledge bases related to the maintenance and repair cases of these machines. Furthermore, the data is modeled based on its attributes. The cases that have been modeled are input into the CBR system by applying the similarity function of weighted sum and Euclidean distance. The higher the similarity between a new case and cases that have been stored on a case base, the more suitable the solution on a case base can be applied in other cases. The results obtained were 5 case bases, i.e. the base case of flat grinding machines, the case base of lathe machines, the case base of milling machines, the case base of CNC machines, and the case base of the welding machines. The results of the CBR system are able to diagnose the causes of problems with machines through the symptoms of problems that occur and able to provide recommendations for the maintenance and repair of these machines.

Abstract

A research has been conducted about Troubleshooting that occurs in the Caterpillar Engine G3408 generator Set which aims to analyze the causes of the hydraulic lock and determine how to solve the problems that occur in the Caterpillar G3408 Engine Generator Set. The research method is to perform detection, diagnostic, and repair on the engine by doing a visual check, looking for the root of the problem and doing the test. The results are engine has a hydraulic lock caused by a damaged one of the components of the Air Intake and Exhaust System. The after cooler is also damaged due to its long service life, causing the coolant to enter the combustion chamber. From the overall analysis it is concluded that the cause of engine failure is one of the components is damaged due to a long service life and to overcome this is doing repair and replacement of components on the After cooler with new components and do the periodic maintenance on the Caterpillar G3408 Engine Generator Set.
