Abstract

Indonesia is a country that adheres to the principle of democracy that guaranteeing freedom of speech for every citizen. Currently, social media has become a public space that enhances citizen’s participation in democracy through opinions on governance and social issues. The state also regulates social media as an effort to uphold its citizen’s freedom of speech. However, looking at existing phenomena and current research shows us that regulation isn't sufficient to prevent the spread of hate speech, fake news, and bullying on social media. This creates fear and threats to freedom of speech in the public sphere. This study looks at John Stuart Mill's perspective on the importance of ethical awareness in each individual, emphasizing that the freedom one possesses should be used to fulfill one's potential without harming others. This awareness is necessary for every social media user in Indonesia, including Christians, to ensure that freedom of speech is preserved in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article discusses the implementation of religious moderation values in the context of Gospel proclamation in Indonesia as part of Christianity's approach to maintaining harmony and interfaith dialogue. This study aims to examine how Christianity carries out its mission of evangelism in a way that reflects love and avoids potential conflicts, using a descriptive-analytical approach. Gospel proclamation grounded in love emphasizes an inclusive attitude and respect for differing beliefs without compromising one's own faith. Through principles of justice, balance, tolerance, and compassionate leadership, this study finds that Christianity has the potential to create harmony within religious diversity and to encourage a more robust process of religious moderation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The great commission is a command that must be carried out. The Great Commission is not an optional recommendation or suggestion. So carrying out the Great Commission is proof for every Christian that they make Jesus God. Failure to carry out the Great Commission is one of the factors inhibiting church growth and failure to fulfill the great command of the Lord Jesus. Therefore, the church needs to think about how to overcome any obstacles that arise in implementing the Great Commission, where many churches do not yet have a curriculum pattern for implementing the Great Commission. A structured curriculum pattern is needed in implementing the great commission in accordance with Matthew 28:19-20. This research method is a descriptive qualitative method. The aim of this research is first, to examine the mission pattern in Matthew 28:19-20. Second, create a mission curriculum pattern that can be implemented in the church. Third, implementing the curriculum pattern obtained from Matthew 28:19-20 in today's church.

Abstract

The heresy that has arisen among Christians or Christianity dates to the time of the Apostles, throughout the history of the church and continues to this day, even to the end of time. The true church, as the body of Christ on earth, must fight against it tenaciously, as the Apostles did. This study examines how to judge whether a teaching is called heretical or not, especially by observing the instructions given by Apostle John in his letters. The goal is to provide guidelines for Christians to be able to respond critically to various teaching winds that arise and are not easily misled. This study uses a literature study method with a hermeneutic approach in analyzing the books of I and II John. In addition, other subpoenas and literature from online journals are also used to enrich research data. The findings of the study provide some clues from the Apostle John to judge a heresy, namely that heresy denies the existence of a biblical God who reveals Himself in three persons, rejects the humanity of Christ, opposes the authority and teachings of the Apostles, and attaches importance to worldly things.

Abstract

The relationship between Jews and Samaritans is one of the complex historical conflicts, influenced by ethnic, political, theological, and social factors. This tension began since the division of the Kingdom of Israel and was further exacerbated by the policies of foreign kingdoms, such as Assyria and Babylon, which influenced the demographic and religious structure of the region. Jews and Samaritans have significant differences in terms of places of worship and the canon of scriptures, which are the main sources of conflict. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of the relationship between the two groups by reviewing the causes of the conflict and the efforts of reconciliation that have occurred throughout history. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method, referring to academic sources from journals, books, and historical texts such as the notes of Flavius. Josephus and Bible references. The results of the study show that the ethnic and theological separation that occurred since the Babylonian exile period had an impact on social segregation that persisted until the Roman period. However, the teachings of Jesus Christ in the New Testament paved the way for reconciliation by emphasizing the values of inclusivity and love. This study highlights the importance of historical and theological approaches in understanding the dynamics of Jewish-Samaritan relations and their impact on interfaith dialogue in the modern era.

Abstract

The atonement of Christ is a fundamental doctrine in Christian theology that affirms that His death and resurrection are the only way of salvation for mankind. However, throughout church history, various deviant theories have emerged, providing interpretations that contradict Christian orthodox teachings. This study aims to analyze deviant theories regarding the atonement of Christ, identify the factors causing these deviations, and compare them with doctrines that are in accordance with the teachings of the Bible. The research method used is a literature study by examining books and theological journals from a historical and systematic perspective. The results of the study show that deviations in the theory of atonement are often rooted in a mistaken understanding of the nature of Christ, God's justice, and the meaning of sacrifice and penal substitution in the work of salvation. Thus, this study is expected to provide deeper theological insight for Christians in maintaining the purity of the teachings of Christ's atonement in accordance with the truth of the Bible.

Abstract

Urban missions experienced an important shift from mission models focused on evangelization and individual conversion to more holistic and inclusive strategies. A mission approach is needed that is relevant to the problems and needs of urban communities, so that there are real solutions that can be felt by the community. By understanding the shift from the mission model, the church should be increasingly aware of its being sent by the Lord Jesus Himself to reach souls who do not yet know Him. In the midst of a very large number of communities with increasingly complex life problems and increasing levels of difficulty, today's churches are not only expected to be able to live adaptably in the midst of the community, but the church also needs to see opportunities to take part in soul winning. Using descriptive qualitative methods, researchers explain what is meant by urban mission and what methods are appropriate to use at this time. This research aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the urban mission model with the social conditions and lifestyle of urban communities. The results show that the group pattern of biblical discovery is very relevant and very likely to be used as a tool of evangelism, given the trend of group lifestyle in social interaction.

Abstract

Theological study of the image of God helps to understand the two words, words that are not different in meaning, but reinforce each other. The topic of the image and likeness of God has produced three popular views, namely the substantial, relational and functional views. Each of these three views has advantages and disadvantages. The aim of the research is to present a third view in a balanced way and to develop new thinking apart from conducting comparative and evaluation studies. Methode search as methode kualitatif deskritif. The findings of this study indicate that: First, the image of God is a fully Man. The results of the research on the word image and likeness in Genesis 1:26-31, 5:1-3 and 9:6 prove that the use of the words "image" and "likeness" are not separate or distinct terms. In essence, the meaning of the words "image" and "likeness" is the same. Second, the image of God in Genesis 1:26, is man was created to be God's representative, that is, to rule over His creation, to rule in the sense of carrying out God's mandate. Third, the image of God requires God's Atonement. The history of human life on earth tells that humans violate God's word and cause humans to sin. Humans need redemption to be able to live obediently and be able to carry out God's mandate of "power." The complete restoration of the original man as even more like the heavenly body and that of Christ will take place in the eternities. Fourth, further research. The researcher realizes that the results of this study are still incomplete because it opens up opportunities for further research.

Abstract

The Indonesian context illustrates real religious discrimination, for example the prohibition of worship that is contrary to the law on freedom of worship, so the analogy with the story of Daniel and his three companions is relevant. They choose to be witnesses to their beliefs. Their rejection of oppression has an impact on the wider community. This paper presents an exegesis of Daniel 1-6 in the framework of religious moderation, which aims to explore how its narratives can provide a theological framework for Christians facing discrimination in Indonesia. The findings of the study suggest that the testimony model does not have to be confrontational, but rather rooted in three main pillars: relational obedience founded on the correct knowledge of God, flawless moral integrity, and surrender manifested through diligent prayer. This article implies how faith communities in Indonesia can appear as minority witnesses but have a public impact.

Abstract

This article presents an in-depth analysis of 1 Corinthians 6:11, departing from the historical context of the first century Corinthians who experienced moral decadence in line with the reality in today's Indonesia where Christians fail to show behavior that has undergone divine transformation. This verse serves as a rhetorical and theological climax in Paul's argument against sinful practices in the church. Through a theological analysis from the Pentecostal perspective of three key terms: washed, sanctified, and justified by God's central role, it is shown that the verse is not merely a warning, but rather a proclamation of a fundamental new identity for believers as a divine transformation in the midst of moral decadence. It is concluded that 1 Corinthians 6:11 is a transformative divine declaration, transforming the identity of sinners into heirs of God's Kingdom that has been washed, sanctified, and justified. In the Pentecostal perspective, the work of the Holy Spirit is the foundation for divine transformation.
