Abstract

Indonesia has many spices that have medicinal properties, one of which is cinnamon bark, coriander and cumin which are known to have antioxidants that can lower blood glucose levels, total cholesterol and anti-obesity. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cinnamon bark, coriander and cumin on the taste of beef rendang. The hedonic test was carried out with 15 panelists and the parameters observed were color, texture, aroma and taste. The results showed that the addition of cinnamon bark, coriander and cumin had no significant effect on texture, aroma and taste but significantly (P>0.05) on color organoleptic values.

Abstract

Mesopore silica modified with dimethylamine is one of the adsorbents used as a functional group for anion exchange and anion separation. Mesopore silica with the addition of amine compounds can be used to see the absorption capacity of silica against chromate anions using the column method. The absorption capacity of the chromate anion is 0.8609 mg/g with an absorption percentage of 99.3%. If the adsorption process has been maximized, the surface of the adsorbent is saturated or no longer able to absorb the adsorbate and equilibrium occurs, it can be continued with the desorption process. The factor used to see this desorption ability is the type of desorption, namely hydrochloric acid (HCl) with a release of 0.4061 mg of chromate anion with a desorption percentage of 95.3% and an optimum concentration of 0.1 M HCl with a release of 0.4287 mg chromate anion with a desorption percentage of 100%.

Abstract

Mesoporous silica is solid silica having a pore size of 2-50 nm. Silica modification is done to increase the ability of silica to absorb anions, one of which is phosphate anion. The modifier compound used is dimethylamine. Silica and dimethylamine can bind with the addition of a linking compound, namely GPTMS. This modified silica can be used to adsorb phosphate anions to see the absorption of silica against phosphate anions. Phosphate ion adsorption using silica has an adsorption capacity of 0.0172 mg/g with an absorption percentage of 88.09%. Desorption with hydrochloric acid obtained a desorbed phosphate concentration of 0.773 mg/L with a desorption percentage of 89.02% while using sulfuric acid the desorbed phosphate concentration was 0.437 mg/L with a desorption percentage of 48.81%. The concentration variations of hydrochloric acid were 0.010 M, 0.025 M, 0.050 M, 0.075 M, 0.10 M, 0.15 M and 0.20 M. The maximum desorption result at 0.1 M concentration was 0.0086 mg with a percentage of 100%.

Abstract

An analysis study of the relationship between the net atomic charge modeling of 13 aryloxy metronidazole derivative compounds as anti-breast cancer has been carried out, which aims to obtain the net atomic charge value and the HKSA equation. The method used is the semi-empirical method of Austin Model 1 by performing geometry optimization. The best equation model selection is done by means of statistical correlation analysis and multilinear regression with the Backward. From the research results, model 1 is the best model with the equation LogIC50=-777.834+(146.644*qC2)+(434.317*qC5)+(1299.237*qN7)-(243.853*qO8)-(65.686*qC10)-(137.823 *qC11)+(66.348*qO12) Dengan n=7; R= 0.943; R2= 0.89; SE= 0.14774; Sig= 0.036; PRESS= 0.10914.

Abstract

Actived carbon can be produced from biomass waste containing starch, lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose as a source for advanced materials. The purpose of this research is to analyze and determine the optimum temperature of the banana hump to obtain high quality, economical, and enviromentally friendly carbon. The method used for the manufacture of carbon from banana humps is by calcining in a furnace with a temperature 250°C-450°C for 1 hour. Proximate analysis of banana hump carbon used SNI 06-3730-1995 was performed by testing ash content, vapor content, and bound carbon. Based on the result obtained, the carbon of banana humpwith a carbonization temperature variation of  250°C is the optimum reaction with an ash content value of 20,26%, a vapor conten of 1,78%, and a bound carbon content of 77,96%.

Abstract

The metal ion Cr(VI) is a very toxic substance with high solubility so that it can cause pollution to the environment. If the concentration of metal ions Cr(VI) exceeds the limit of 0.5 mg/L can damage ecosystems, the environment, poison living organisms and humans, then a method is needed to overcome the pollution caused by chromium waste. Biosorption is an effective and efficient method. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum conditions for the absorption and absorption capacity of Cr(VI) metal ions. metal ion Cr(VI) with dihenylcarbazide and H2SO4 will form a purple complex reaction. The maximum wavelength of Cr(VI) ion absorption was obtained at 543 nm. These results obtained optimum absorption conditions at an adsorbent mass of 0.6 grams with an absorption capacity of 12.7506 mg/g.

Abstract

Mesopore silica was prepared using sodium silica as a precursor and CTAB as a templating agent. However, silica has limitations in adsorption and desorption of chloride anions. Therefore, it is necessary to modify it to improve the action of mesopore silica. This study used DMA (dimethylamine) as a modifier with glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) linking compound. Adsorption was carried out by injecting the adsorbate solution into the column containing the adsorbent at pH 7, and the optimum concentration was 20 mg/L. Furthermore, desorption was carried out by comparing the best desorption agents using acid desorption agents, namely nitric and sulfuric acids. The study showed that the percentage of nitrate desorption (95,29%)> sulfate (47,64%). After obtaining the best type of desorbing agent, desorption was carried out using nitrate with a concentration variation of (0,02; 0,04; 0,06; 0,08; 0,1) M. The optimum conditions for desorption of chloride anions on the modified mesoporous silica adsorbent were at 0,06 M.

Abstract

The effect of activation types on the biosorpsion of pb2+ metal ions by matoa peel (Pometia pinnata) has been done. The purpose of this study was focused on the effect of the type of activator on the biosorpsion of pb2+ metal ions by the matoa peel (Pometia pinnata) with chemical activation to determine the technical and condition of the activator according to the matoa peel which can be used as a Pb2+ ion biosorbent. The method used is the batch method. The variables in this study were the type of activator and were characterized using the FTIR and AAS. The results showed that 0.1 M HCl was the best activator characterized by a decrease in % T of functional groups -OH, -CH and C-O which played an important role in the biosorption process, had the best Pb2+ metal biosorption capacity obtained from the AAS results, namely of 0.6462 mg/g with % biosorption 80.6239%.

Abstract

The synthesis of ZnO and ZnO/Au nanoparticles using the laser ablation method in liquid has been successfully carried out. Characterization of the optical properties of ZnO and ZnO/Au using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (Ocean Optic MAYA Pro 2000) which was measured in the wavelength range of 275 - 875 nm. The characterization results obtained are absorbance values and band gap values of ZnO and ZnO/Au nanoparticles. From this study, the absorbance values of ZnO nanoparticles were found at wavelengths of 330 and 335 nm. After obtaining the absorbance value, the band gap value was analyzed for ZnO and ZnO/Au nanoparticles, respectively, namely 3.23 eV and 3.17 eV. The decrease in the band gap value in ZnO is due to the presence of Au in ZnO nanoparticles which can replace one of the lattices in the ZnO crystal structure.

Abstract

Material termoelektrik merupakan suatu material yang dapat mengubah energi panas menjadi listrik. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pemanfaatan karbon aktif limbah sabut pinang (Areca catechu L) sebagai material termoelektrik. Komposit karbon aktif – CuO dibuat dengan mecampurkan berbagai perbandingan massa (gram). Material komposit dilakukan pengujian tegangan listrik (efek seebeck), konduktivitas listrik dan daya hantar panas. Untuk melihat bentuk dan struktur kristal dilakukan karakterisasi X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) dan untuk mengetahui komposisi kimia digunakan karakterisasi X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). Pengujian ini mendapati hasil bahwa material komposit perbandingan massa 0,5 gram karbon aktif dan 1 gram CuO merupakan material terbaik sebagai material termoelektrik karena mempunyai nilai konduktivitas listrik tinggi sebesar 0,0913 MΩ-.cm- dengan daya hantar panas yang rendah yaitu 4,96 J/s serta tegangan listrik (efek seebeck) sebesar 14,44 x 10-3 mV/K. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan bahwa bentuk struktur dari komposit karbon aktif – CuO berbentuk amorf kristal yang tidak merubah bentuk kristal dari CuO dan karakterisasi XRF menunjukan tidak ada komposisi baru yang terbentuk pada material.
