Abstract

One crucial aspect of the professional development of nurse supervisors involves their sociodemographic characteristics, which can significantly impact their knowledge and skills in collaborative communication. This study aims to analyze the sociodemographic contributions of nurse supervisors to knowledge and collaborative communication skills, based on King’s Theory, within Type C Regional Hospitals in West Sumatra. The research methodology employed a crosstab-chisquare approach, with a sample consisting of 24 nurse supervisors. Supervisor education level showed a significant relationship with supervisor knowledge and skills (p < 0.05). The contribution of work period to supervisor knowledge and skills was also significant (p < 0.05. However, the age of the supervisor did not have a significant relationship with supervisor knowledge and skills with p>0.05. It is expected that hospital management can develop supervisor collaborative communication training based on King's theory on an ongoing basis focus on improving collaborative communication skills, especially for supervisors with shorter work periods or lower education levels.

Abstract

Blood pressure >140 mmHg is at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of length of illness on the achievement of the target of systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in grade 1 hypertension patients without comorbidities. The study design was cross sectional, with a sample size of 34 respondents who met the sample criteria taken from 93 grade 1 hypertension patients without comorbidities. Blood pressure data for the last 3 months based on medical records at the puskesmas and direct blood pressure measurements in the 4th month. The duration of hypertension illness was calculated from the time the doctor diagnosed it until the time of data collection, by means of interviews. Data analysis using chi square. The results of the research on the effect of length of illness on the achievement of SBP and DBP were obtained: p value 0.018, V -0.407, OR (CI) 0.134 (0.023-0.799) and p value 0.019, V -0.402, OR (CI) 0.083 (0.007-0.950). Conclusion: The more chronic you suffer from grade 1 hypertension, the lower the chances of achieving SBP and DBP therapeutic targets. Length of illness needs to be considered in the management of grade 1 hypertension patients.

Abstract

Medication adherence is the key to controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients to minimize the risk of complications. The research aims to assess level of medication adherence and identify influencing factors. The quasi-experimental research method used purposive sampling to create a control group and 2 intervention groups (pill box and medication chart) with each group 30 patients. Prospective data collection with pre-post design (week-1 and week-4) as well as observing clinical data on blood pressure, medication adherence. Questionnaire of medication non-adherence determinants was taken at week 4. The questionnaire instrument was validated with Cronbach Alpha reliability >0.06. The results of the statistical analysis were significant (p-value <0.05) with increasing the mean score of medication adherence in the pill box was 1.2 and the medication chart was 0.7. The reduction in systolic blood pressure in the intervention group was significant (p-value <0.05) by more than 2 mmHg. A total of 35.6% of patients were reluctant to ask health workers for medication information and 45.6% needed someone to remind them to take medication. In conclusion, increasing medication adherence and reducing blood pressure can be achieved with intervention and requires social support from family and health-care professional.

Abstract

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) is the most common type of blood and bone marrow cancer in children. The most important and frequently encountered impact of ALL on children is pain. Pain in children can be treated with non-pharmacological therapy, namely storytelling therapy. Children can distract (distract) their feelings of pain and relax during treatment at the hospital because they feel happy and comfortable when listening to stories. The aim of this case study aims to determine the effect of the storytelling method on reducing pain in children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in the Wijaya Kusuma Chemotherapy Room, Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. This case study design uses a descriptive design with a shelter housing approach. The subject of this case study was 1 respondent who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, using purposive sampling. Data were collected using fairy tale script instruments and a numerical rating scale. The results of the case study showed a decrease in the pain scale after storytelling therapy was carried out for 3 meetings, resulting in results from scale 6 (Moderate Pain) to scale 2 (Mild Pain). So it can be concluded that the storytelling method can be recommended for children suffering from ALL because it is effective in reducing the pain scale.

Abstract

Childbirth is the stage of expelling the products of conception through the birth canal with or without assistance. The birth process is classified into 2 ways, namely normal delivery and caesarean section (Sectio Caesarea). Caesarean section can have a negative impact, namely physically causing pain in the stomach during surgery which has a higher pain level, namely 27% compared to the normal birth stage which has a lower pain level, namely 9%. Pain can be prevented with non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is the Benson relaxation technique. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Benson relaxation technique in reducing pain in mothers after cesarean section. This research is qualitative research with a case study method using a nursing process approach. The subjects used were post-cesarean section patients with acute pain problems at Kardinah Hospital, Tegal City. The research instrument used was the maternity nursing care format. Research data collection techniques are observation, interviews, physical examination and documentation studies. The instrument used to measure pain is the Numeric Ratting Scale (NRS), pain measurements are carried out before and after the Benson relaxation technique. The results of applying the Benson relaxation technique to mothers after cesarean section showed that the patient experienced a decrease in the level of pain from the first day of treatment to the third day of treatment, namely from a scale of 7 to a scale of 3. These results show that the Benson relaxation technique was able to minimize the scale of pain in mothers after cesarean section

Abstract

The puerperium phase refers to the period immediately after childbirth for 6 weeks or 42 days, in which case the reproductive organs will undergo subtle changes that resemble the changes that occurred before pregnancy. The main factor causing the high maternal mortality rate is the lack of care and attention given to postpartum women. The purpose of this case study is to assess the effectiveness of breathing relaxation techniques in reducing acute pain in postpartum patients. This study used case study methodology to investigate the patient's experience during the nursing process. The nursing process includes nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing intervention, nursing implementation, and nursing evaluation. The results showed that deep breath relaxation for 2x24 hours, before the intervention, the patient complained of pain in the birth canal with a pain scale of 5 (moderate). After the intervention, the patient's complaints of pain in the birth canal decreased with a pain scale of 3 (mild). In conclusion, deep breath relaxation is effective as an effort to reduce the intensity/level of pain in postpartum patients.
