Abstract

Independent smallholders contribute about 35 percent of Indonesia's total crude oil, but the smallholders' low output, consistently producing 45 percent less than plantation companies. This research aims to examine the governance and accessibility of independent smallholder financing for planters to the sustainability of palm oil farming. The method used is a survey method to obtain data and information related to the implementation of governance and accessibility of smallholder palm oil financing in Jambi Province. The results found that smallholders' palm financing's control and accessibility have not been implemented with measurable management. This is because smallholders often start their farming activities with less optimal planning ranging from the procurement of inputs such as uncertified seedlings and minimal maintenance related to capital limitations, let alone plants already entering old age. The consequence is lower productivity than national productivity. Non-governmental palm oil farmers have no bargaining power, and only as recipients of TBS prices are sold. The lack of mentoring also impacts garden management's limited knowledge and replaces old and damaged plants. Besides, access to financing from financial institutions also requires the land's legality, so various parties must deal with it. In the future, it is necessary to accelerate thinking and resources in real terms to demonstrate impartiality in helping non-governmental palm oil growers to ensure the sustainability of farming for the sake of shared prosperity.

Abstract

This study departs from the phenomenon of the presence of downy mildew disease in corn farming by corn farmers in Rahandouna Village, Poasia District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. Control efforts have been made in the last 3 years through increasing farmers' knowledge by utilizing the medium leaflet, but the downy mildew is still a problem that results in the production of corn which is not optimal. In-depth research is needed to ensure the effectiveness of the leaflet medium used to increase farmers' knowledge. Therefore this study aims to reveal the effectiveness of the leaflet medium in increasing farmers' knowledge and to strive to improve its effectiveness by focusing on the design of the letters. The research was conducted in Rahandouna Sub-District, Poasia District, Kendari City, which was conducted for 1 month, January 2020, with 36 respondents. The research was designed as an experimental study with pre-post-test treatment. The results of the study which were calculated through the effective formula using the t-test showed that the leaflet medium was effective in increasing farmers' knowledge with an effective value of 65.29%, with the design of an upright letter shape. It is hoped that the leaflets produced from this research can effectively increase farmers' knowledge so that the downy mildew disease can be controlled.

The Covid 19 pandemic has brought significant changes to the economy of Bali as a domestic and foreign tourist destination. The tourism sector, as the main contributor to the largest contributor to Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), experienced a contraction, which had an impact on other sectors. Abstract

Corn marketing is the activity of distributing corn production from farmers to consumers. Corn production produced by farmers is not of economic value if the production of corn does not reach the hands of consumers. Corn marketing creates a price difference between what farmers receive and the price that consumers receive. This is due to the involvement of middlemen/traders of corn production from the hands of farmers in the hands of consumers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the marketing channels and absorptive capacity of Bisi-2 corn marketing institutions in Muna District. This research was conducted from January 2019 until May 2019 in Kabangka sub-district. The research location is one of the corn production centers of Bisi-2 varieties in Muna District. Sources of data in this study are primary data obtained directly from informants. The selection of informants used snowball sampling technique with the number of informants being 10 village collector traders, 1 sub-district trader collector, 5 animal feed traders, and 3 breeders. Data is collected by cross-section. Analysis of the data used in this study is qualitative descriptive analysis. Research results show the marketing channel for corn in Muna District, there are five patterns, namely; (1) marketing channels (farmers - village collector traders –sub-district collector traders - corn collecting companies); (2) marketing channels (farmers - village collector traders –sub-district collector traders - animal feed traders - breeders); (3) marketing channel (farmer - village collector trader - rancher) and (4) marketing channel (farmer - rancher). The marketing channel (farmer - village collector trader –sub-district collector trader - corn collecting company) is a channel that absorbs corn production the largest in Kabangka District, Muna District.
