Abstract

NPK compound fertilizer has the capability to improve the quality and yield of plants, but longterm application may have some effects towards soil chemical property. This study aims to find out the effect of the combination of NPK (16:16:16) and Liquid Organic Fertilizer from fish waste towards soil pH, available P, P uptake, and yield baby bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on Inceptisols from Jatinangor. The experiment was conducted in October 2015 until January 2016 at Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Sumedang regency, West Java. Randomized Block Design (RBD consisted of 8 treatments and repeated three times were applied in this research. The treatments were: control (0), 1 and 0,5 dose of NPK compund fertilizer, and 0,5; 1; 1,5 doses of liquid organic fertilizer from fish waste. Significant result were detected between combinations of NPK  compound fertlizer and liquid organic fertilizer from fish waste on pH, available-P, P uptake, and yield of Baby beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) on Inceptisols.

Abstract

Agricultural waste is rich in cellulosic material that is difficult to degrade but can be decomposed by cellulase enzymes. Cellulosic material is an organic component abundantly in nature in the form of cellulose and hemicellulose polymer. Utilization of microbes in the process of waste bioconversion can be done to get added value from the waste material into other products such as organic fertilizer. Cellulase-producing microbes can be isolated from various sources, one of which is from termite nests. The use of microbes from termite nests as decomposers for composting high-yielding agricultural waste was carried out in this study. Cellulolytic microbial isolates (combination of bacteria and fungi and without decomposers) were applied to agricultural wastes high in cellulose content: rice straw, bagasse, and oil palm empty fruit bunches. Randomized Block Design was applied and each treatment was and repeated 3 times. The composting process was carried out for 1 month indoors. The results showed that cellulolytic microbial consortium obtained from termite nests reduced the compost cellulose content of bagasse agricultural waste in one month. Whereas rice straw and oil palm empty fruit bunches showed a tendency to decrease cellulose content because cellulose degradation by decomposer microbes still continues after one month of incubation.

Abstract

Rice is one of the staples of Indonesian society. Development of rice cultivation can be carried out on Inceptisol soils. This land has a wide distribution of around 70.52 million, but it has an unfavorable fertility rate so fertilization is needed in order to increase fertility and yield of lowland rice. This study aims to determine the effect of a combination of liquid organic fertilizer and N, P, K fertilizer on C-Organic, N-Total, N uptake and Yield (Oryza Sativa L.) on Inceptisol from Jatinangor. The experiment was held on March 2019 until July 2019 at Ciparanje Experimental Field and Laboratory Soil Chemistry and Plant Nutrition, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjran University, Jatinangor, Sumedang. The experimental design was Randomized Block Design with ten treatments and three replications. The result of study showed that the combination of liquid organic fertilizer and N, P, K is affected on organic C, total N, N uptake and rice yield. The application of one liquid organik fertilizer and ¾ N, P, K gave the best rice yield of 8,55 kg/plot or equal to 6,84 ton/ha.

Abstract

Hydroponics is one of the urban farming techniques that can be used to improve crop yield. Nowadays, the supply of all nutriens in hydroponics, particulary phosphate only derived from inorganic fertilizers. Application of arbuscular mycorhiza fungi (AMF) as bioagent may help plants to fill its nutrient need, especially phosphate. This study aimed to find out the best concentration of phosphate fertilizer to be applied to the hydroponic Ebb-flow system model. The stage was to test several vegetable plants with various concentrations of phosphorus (0, 20, 40, 80 ppm) on the Ebb-flow hydroponic system. Vegetables used were romaine lettuce, red lettuce, and kale. Interaction was found between vegetables and the variety of phosphate concentrations and the root colonization by AMF, and phosphate uptake. The AMF applications on the hydroponic Ebb-Flow system model reduced phosphate fertilizer need by 40 ppm (50%), on red lettuce 0 ppm (100%), and on kale 20 ppm (25%). Besides lowered phosphate doses, such applications also increased the plant yield.

Abstract

One of the efforts to increase crop yield based in sustainable agriculture is through the utilization of microbial inoculants (biofertilizers) and soil conditioners. Biofertilizer is an ingredient that contains beneficial microbial inoculants to increase soil nutrient availability for plants. Biochar has been recognized as a soil conditioner by improving soil physical, chemical, and biological properties as well as in retaining nutrients, thereby enhancing plant growth. However, the research regarding the effect of the combination between biofertilizers and biochar on growth and yield of upland rice are still at scarce. The field experiment was conducted to determine the impact of biofertilizers and biochar on growth and yield of upland rice in Andisols at Pasir Talang village in Rancakalong district, Sumedang, West Java.  This experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisted of six treatments and four replicates. Biofertilizers consisted of N-fixer bacteria (Azotobacter chroococum, Azospirillum sp.) and phosphate-solubilizer microbes (Pseudomonas mallei, P. cepaceae, Aspergillus niger and Penicillium sp.). The treatments were combination of biochar (2,4, and 6 t ha-1) and biofertlizers (0 and 50 kg ha-1). The result of experiment revealed that combination of biochar and biofertilizers increased the growth and yield of upland rice significantly. The application 4 t ha-1of biochar and 50 kg ha-1 of biofertilizers gave the best yield of 5,81 t ha-1.

Abstract

Dairy farming waste in high volume especially in the form of flushing slurry can be unmanageable. Flushing slurry is lower in organic matter content compared to solid waste due to water saturation. In order to enhance the utilization, flushing slurry can be converted in liquid organic fertilizer with higher nutrient content. King grass (Pennisetum purphoides L.) plant is commonly used as livestock feed especially dairy cow in South Bandung area. The experiment was conducted between March to June 2018 in Pangalengan, South Bandung. The result shows no significant different between control specimen and liquid organic fertilizer teratments in plant hight, number of leaves, root weight, and root length. Although notable amount of plant leaves was demonstrated in D treatment compared to than that of control.
