Abstract

This paper discusses a conflict involving Paul and Barnabas in Acts 15:35-41. Stott argued that this conflict is a sad story. Nevertheless, based on the narrative interpretation exploring some narrative components in Acts 15:35-41, namely plot, time and place setting, characters, and narrative rhetoric, this paper is to show that the story of the conflict is not a sad story. Actually, the story is a part of Luke’s rhetoric in exposing that the work of the Holy Spirit was not be able to be resisted by everything and telling about the consequences of different models of leadership especially in recruitment for the sake of God’s mission as well.

Abstract

One of the critical problems in hermeneutic praxis is the tendency of emphasizing one part in a hermeneutical circle, namely context, text, or reader. Therefore we should take into account the whole part in an interdependence balance. Instead of emphasizing one of the part in the hermeneutic circle, this paper offers pilgrimage as a paradigm in interpreting the Bible so that the whole part in a hermeneutical circle can be put in an interdependence balance. The use of pilgrimage as a paradigm in the interpretation of the Bible should be understood as Groome has been doing by taking pilgrimage as a paradigm in his Shared Christian Praxis approach.

Abstract

The rise of women's movement and feminist theology show to us about the critical consciousness of women‟s experiences in the patriarchal society. They have fought against the patriarchal society supported by culture and religion. Many women have struggled for their self-respect, justice, and freedom. They have wanted to have an equal right and obligation with man either in church or in society. The aim of this paper is to describe the background of the rise offeminist theology and the richness of Feminist theological method.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mendalami persoalan mengenai apakah gangguan roh jahat. Khususnya peristiwa kerasukan merupakan hal yang sama dengan gangguan kejiwaan ataukah sesuatu hal yang berbeda. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan itu maka penulis mencoba menguraikan terlebih dahulu perspektif psikologis dalam memandang kerasukan. Selanjutnya juga penulis mendalami perspektif Alkitab, tradisi gereja dan pengalaman di lapangan terkait dengan peristiwa kerasukan. Unsur-unsur tersebut didialogkan satu dengan yang lain dan menghasilkan sebuah kesimpulan bahwa gangguan roh jahat khususnya kerasukan roh jahat adalah sesuatu yang berbeda dengan ganguan kejiwaan meskipun mempunyai gejala yang mirip dan kadang-kadang keduanya saling berkaitan. Sehingga baik gangguan roh jahat maupun gangguan kejiwaan membutuhkan penanganan yang berbeda pula sesuai dengan kasusnya.

Abstract

This article focuses on the good works in receiving the salvation in Pauline Letters. It contains of debating on faith and the good works relationship in The New Perspectives on Paul. By exploring some themes relating to Paul’s concept of salvation in his Letters, namely: parousia, justification, and the resurrection, this article shows that the good works are essensial part in receiving God’s saving work. This conclusion is based on some texts in Pauline Letters that shows Paul’s exhortation that asked and urged Christians to do good works in order to welcome parousia.

Abstract

Capitalism seems to be the result of 500 years of Prostentantism reformation. By unraveling some bads conditions of the world today as presence of “powers” as reflected in the New Testament, and by believing that Protestantism reformation still has power in its spirits: ad fontes and semper reformanda, this article shows that we are able to put forward an intrinsic adagium of Protestantism reformation beside of sola gratia, sola fide, and sola scriptura; namely sola iustitia.
