Abstract

This paper is about to criticize the Pentecostal theology about the healing. The theology believe that the miracle of healing can happen because Jesus died on the cross. He was able to heal all sicknesses and to free people from the shackles of the devil. Furthermore, the concept of God is a good God also used to refer to the belief that God has a strong desire to heal. But in reality, many Christians experience sickness is not healed. So the doctrine of the Pentecostal healing actually makes conflicted for people who have never experienced the healing of sickness, although he has been obedient and trust in the Lord. The author tries to reconstruct the Pentecostal theology of healing that could accommodate such a struggle. At the end of writing the author makes a conclusion that in sickness and suffering severe, the work of the Holy Spirit as the agent of transformative Suffering can not be separated from his work as the agent of the transformative life. The Holy Spirit as the agent of transformative Suffering can wear sickness and suffering experienced by believers to proclaim the work of his reform, which is a new birth. The new birth here interpreted as the transformation of the Holy Spirit in their lives so that their lives can sincerely declare lives according to the values of the Kingdom of God which contains joy, faithfulness, patience, love, truth, peace. These values are stronger than mere physical healing function experienced by a person.

Abstract

When reharmonizing a tune, one gives the melody new color by changing its underlying harmony, that is, the melody remains but the mood of the song changes. Reharmonizing melody is already known since long time. There are also composers who arranged earlier composers’s tunes with the aim to commemorate his works or that tunes sound fresher for listeners today. The commercialization of popular music brought with it an exponential increase in the number of people listening music of all kinds, in dance halls and nightclubs as well as on radio and on recordings. In this atmosphere of popularization, old music has had to struggle for survival. It seems reharmonization is an effort to meet listeners’s taste of music.

Abstract

Abstract

Looking from a pastoral care and counseling perspective, prayer as a ritual is a human response for God’s action. As a response, prayer presupposes a responsible communication with God as absolute authority in one’s life. If the communication running well, the pastoral function of prayer as a ritual enhance people well-being mentality and spirituality. Therefore, when doing pastoral care or pastoral counseling, pastoral caregiver needs to make sure that people have healthy communication with true God as the Ultimate Absolute Authority. For those reasons, a pastoral caregiver should understand about the theological principle in praying and have ability to use prayer as pastoral means for themselves and people who need their pastoral ministry.

Abstract

This paper proposes an integrated pastoral service model. I begin with a fundamental question, what kind of pastoral care is right for people who are traumatized? Pastoral care with the dimension of voice and words will certainly be very difficult for those who are unable to speak their wound experience. Because, trauma causes someone's memory and life to be fragmented, making it difficult for them to be open and tell stories. Therefore, integrated pastoral care between verbatim and psycho-physiotherapy can be an alternative for counselors dealing with those who have experienced trauma. This paper will begin with the reality of the wound that does not always allow anyone to speak verbally. Next, I will frame pastoral care which involves anesthetic-therapeutic dimension as an alternative. Finally, this paper will conclude with conclusions and reflections.

Abstract

The judges of Israel (as described in the biblical book of Judges) had not only judicial functions; they were the leaders of the people. Their leadership can be described as a charismatic leadership: Firstly, they became leaders just by their God-given charisma and military success, not by any institutional mechanism, such as public vote, dynastical succession etc. Secondly, the judges ruled without any institutional basis, they had no capital city, no palace, no bureaucracy or public administration, no tax system, no standing army and no privileges as leaders. They gained their military victories by general draft of all Israelites (usually poorly armed) and very often by the terror of God, which overwhelmed their enemies as some kind of communal frenzy. Thus the power of God was very directly felt by the Israelites, which made them turn back to Yahweh, their God, whom they had forsaken. That is why George Pixley categorizes the reign of the judges as a theocracy or even as the Kingdom of God. But whenever a judge died, there was no mechanism of succession, which usually lead to a political and religious crisis after the death of most judges. Therefore the Israelites finally opted for monarchy as a more steady and institutionalized form of leadership, with a clear dynastical mechanism of succession, a professional army and professional public administration. The Israelites paid the price for this stable leadership in the form of taxes, forced labour and partly loss of their freedom. This article compares the leadership of judges as a model of charismatic leadership and the monarchy as a model of the institutionalized form of leadership.
