Abstract

The study was conducted using the observational method. It assessed blood loss using a calibrated measuring cup every 15 minutes in the first hour after delivery and every 30 minutes for the next hour. The results of the analysis showed that the modelling of early warning identification in laboring mothers is influenced by the age and weight of the mother, which is at a significance of 10%. A major warning sign is an increase in blood pressure rate in the third stage of labor which begins 15 minutes from the start of bleeding, and is categorized as dangerous when the blood volume reaches 600 mL. Therefore, every mother in labor must be monitored regularly and continuously and early warning signs must be taken into account. There is no safe time in cases of blood loss. It is very important to identify the risks in a timely manner to identify the source of bleeding so that it can be handled quickly and appropriately in order to prevent complications and maternal death due to postpartum haemorrhage (PPH). Implication, effective and optimal identification in clinical practice should be evidence-based in order to better determine whether or not intervention is needed to prevent blood loss after childbirth.

Abstract

Early detection of breast cancer is essential for improving patient survival. However, non-invasive imaging test have different diagnostic value. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of mammography and ultrasound to detect breast malignancy in Albania. The 234 patients suspected with breast lesions in Albania during 2018-2022 were subjected to both mammograph and ultrasound and then to core needle biopsy (CNB). The BI-RADS classification was used to evaluate breast lesions. The diagnostic value of ultrasound, mammography and their combination were assessed. Mean age of participants was 55.97 years (96.2% females). Ultrasound detected higher proportions of high-risk patients compared to mammography (79.1% vs. 52.6%, respectively) but the combination of the two increased this figure even further (88.9%). The sensitivity of mammography increased quickly with age, peaking to 93.2% among patients >60 years old, whereas ultrasound has better sensitivity among younger participants (<45 years and 45-60 years); overall, the combined tests had the highest sensitivity (95.1%), followed by ultrasound (87.4%) and mammography (59.3%). In conclusion, the sensitivity of mammography is best among older patients whereas ultrasound seems to be more accurate among younger patients. The combination of mammography and ultrasound seems to increase the diagnostic accuracy of breast tumors among Albanian patients.

Abstract

Pregnant women are a vulnerable group to be infected by COVID-19, and have a higher risk of serious illness, morbidity, and mortality than the general population. Willingness to receive COVID-19 vaccination has a decisive role in successfully controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this study was to determine the factors related to the willingness to get COVID-19 vaccination in pregnant women at the Teluknaga Public Health Center. A total of 102 pregnant women with gestational ages of 13 to 33 weeks were selected by convenience sampling. Data were collected by filling out a questionnaire during November to December 2021. All respondents had a health status that meets the requirements for COVID-19 vaccination. Overall, 63% of pregnant women wanted to receive COVID-19 vaccination. There were significant relationships between education (p=0.029), frequency of antenatal care (p=0.019), husband's support (p<0.001) and willingness to receive vaccination. Religion, occupation, knowledge about COVID-19, parity, frequency of antenatal care visits, and sources of information did not show significant relationships with the willingness to receive COVID-19 vaccination among them. Education and awareness campaigns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine for pregnant women and the role of health workers are needed to raise awareness.

Abstract

In exogenous prophylaxis, fluoride is applied directly to the tooth surface through various gels, varnishes, foams, and toothpaste. According to the global burden of disease study conducted in 2017, more than 530 million children worldwide suffer from dental caries in their primary dentition. There are few developments in the selection of non-invasive methods in the application of mineralizing varnishes. The researchers investigated experimentally, in-vitro the preventive activity of the fluoride varnish Clinpro™ White Varnish with TCP 3M (CV), using a modern method of X-ray diffraction. The 20 temporary teeth were extracted due to physiological changes. Place of study was UMDC - city of Varna and Institute of Physical Chemistry "Academician Rostislav Kaishev" of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia. Demineralization is carried out with 37% phosphoric acid (i-gel – etching gel) and applied to the smooth temporary enamel surfaces for 30 seconds. The models were then washed and dried with a water and air jet. Remineralization was performed with CV. The formation of small globules of calcium fluoride. The coating is composed mainly of fluorapatite. With the modern method of X-ray diffraction, it was proved that exogenous fluoride prophylaxis and remineralization therapy are effective methods of prevention and treatment of initial caries lesions.

Abstract

Leprosy, unlike other high-fatality diseases, is a long-term, chronic illness that can cause long-term disability. People's experiences with leprosy in Indonesia, indicating a need for responsive leprosy services to meet the wide range of requirements, including care for those who are not formally afflicted with the disease. This study aimed to explore live experience of people affected by leprosy in the community in Banten province, Indonesia. This study employed inductive phenomenological research methods with a semi-structure interview. We used snowball sampling, and people who could not communicate or did not want to take part in the study were not included. The majority of the participants were below 45 years, and 21 were male and 19 were female. Among total participants, only 15% could not read and write. The data were examined using Colaizzi's phenomenological analysis, which involves collecting and analysing data in parallel until no new information is acquired. We established trustworthiness in qualitative studies. The following themes emerged from this study: i) public understanding about leprosy; ii) psychological response; iii) perceived stigma; iv) health seeking behavior; and v) leprosy's impact on economic condition. This study identified the meaning of leprosy patients' lives through their own voices. People who have leprosy should also get spiritual help, coping skills, and training in self-care skills.

Abstract

Turnover exacerbates the global nursing shortage; the loss of skilled and expert nurses has a negative impact on patient outcomes. The study examined the influence of job satisfaction, work environment, leadership styles, organizational commitment and work-family support on actual turnover among nurses working in the hospital of Indonesia. A cross-sectional survey was carried out in Jakarta, Indonesia. The sample in this study was nurses who leave the jobs from hospital during period of time October 2019 to October 2020. A total of 170 nurses responded to the survey. Nurses reported poor leadership style (2.84±0.82), organization commitment (2.99±0.76), as well as dissatisfaction with organization (2.76±0.80) and leadership support (2.89±0.89). Job satisfaction (p=0.007), work environment (p=0.032), leadership style (p=0.001), organizational commitment (p=0.010), and work-family support (p=0.026) remained statistically significant affected turnover. The findings of this study emphasize the critical role of satisfaction, organizational commitment, work-family support, and leadership style in determining nurse intention to stay and provide employers with a road map for reducing turnover. Future studies may need to understand more deeper regarding the actual turnover experience and its associated factors using longitudinal or qualitative studies.

Abstract

A cross-sectional study was carried out to assess the smoking habits of primary healthcare workers, their knowledge about the harmful effects and health risks of smoking, as well as their attitudes towards not smoking. A validated self-administered questionnaire was used to collect the data. There were 261 primary healthcare workers in Perak, Malaysia recruited in this study. The results showed that there were only 4.6% (n=12) ever smokers and 2.7% (n=7) current smokers in this study. More than 75% of primary healthcare workers reported having friends and family members who smoked. The majority of the primary healthcare workers had good knowledge regarding the health risks and harmful effects of smoking. They also possessed positive attitudes towards not smoking. The females, those in the high-income group, the health service providers and the non-smokers had significantly higher scores in both their knowledge about smoking and positive attitudes towards not smoking (p<0.05). The primary healthcare workers with tertiary educational levels were significantly associated with positive attitudes towards not smoking (p<0.05). Gender and occupational status were the strongest predictors for knowledge about the health risks of smoking (p≤0.001), knowledge about the harmful effects of smoking (p≤0.001) and attitudes towards not smoking (p≤0.001). Health service providers, and females had the highest awareness of smoking. The high percentage of health service providers reported having friends and family members who smoked in this study should be given more attention. Implementation of more free-smoke areas could be use as strategy to reduce exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke.

Abstract

Job satisfaction is a contented feeling of employees when they are able to fulfill expectations for needs with good work-life balance conditions so that they can work effectively and efficiently. The goal of this study was to find out how workers in the shipyard industry feel about their work-life balance and how happy they are with their jobs. The variables were the characteristics of employees (age, education level, marital status, and years of service). The data were shown in frequency distribution tables and cross tabulations. Chi-square test was employed to analyze the data. The work-life balance of employees was related to their age (sig. 0.039), but not to their level of education (sig. 0.723), marital status (sig. 0.535), or number of years of service (sig. 0.724). The results of statistical tests on the two main factors showed that work-life balance and job satisfaction were linked (sig. 0.019). Overall, employees in the shipyard industry were much happier with their jobs when they had a good balance between work and life. The company is expected to maintain the work-life balance of its employees to increase the job satisfaction of the workers and indirectly increase the achievement of work productivity in the company.

Abstract

Heart diseases remain one of the major health concerns worldwide, inflicting a tremendous financial burden, especially in low to middle-income countries like the Philippines. An exhaustive time-trend analysis, including recent data, is essential to measure the nation's progress in cardiac health, capturing the effect of national-scale changes over time. Thus, using stored data from the Philippine health statistics, this study analyzed trends and profiles of heart disease mortality in the Philippines from 1960 to 2019 and discussed relevant national policies for greater recognition and awareness. Ischaemic heart disease constituted the most significant proportion of mortality among all types. Steadily increasing trends by cause, gender, age group were observed, and with males and the elderly population having higher rates. Regional differences also existed, having the highest rates in Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao respectively. Like global patterns, heart disease remained one of the country's leading causes of mortality over decades. Differences between genderes, age groups, and regions are attributed to complex and interrelated factors making males, the elderly, and highly urbanized areas most vulnerable among the population.

Abstract

Many evidence revealed that physical activity (PA) has positive effects on pregnancy outcomes. Healthy pregnant women are suggested to have a combination of PA in light to moderate-intensity activities for 150 minutes per week. The purpose of this study was to analyze the type, the intensity of PA of pregnant women, and the average energy expenditure per week. A cross-sectional study involving 110 pregnant women who came from four community health centers in Bandung city, Indonesia was carried out from April to June 2021. The pregnancy physical activity questionnaire (PPAQ) was used to collect data. Descriptive data were presented using median and percentile. Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis test were used to statistical test. The results of the study where the median energy expenditure per week was 250.50 METs. Most of the PA was light-intensity activities and household/child caring activities. There were still 10% pregnant women who did not exercise. Employed pregnant women had energy expenditure per week higher compared to unemployed pregnant women. Sports/exercise activities were seldom been carried out. This study demonstrated that during pandemic COVID-19, pregnant women are still doing PA. During pandemic COVID-19, health care providers should motivate healthy pregnant women to exercise by creating innovations using social media or online platforms so that pregnant women can exercise at home safely.
