Abstract

Mother's Milk (ASI) is the main source of nutrition for babies. Unfortunately many mothers choose formula milk instead. The diet of breastfeeding mothers indirectly affects the composition and production of breast milk. Malnutrition not only interferes with the physical condition of the mother but also reduces the quantity and quality of breast milk. Drinking water infused with fennel seeds and mung beans is said to be effective in counteracting this. We wanted to study whether feeding mothers green bean (Phaseolus radiatus) and fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) water had an impact on the birth weight of their babies between the ages of 0 and 6 months. Researchers used a pre-experimental approach and sampling method aiming to recruit 17 breastfeeding mothers with infants between the ages of 0 and 6 months. Statistics show a significant difference (p 0.000) using the Paired T-Test in SPSS. Mung bean water (Phaseolus radiatus) and fennel leaves (Foeniculum vulgare) given to breastfeeding mothers had an effect on the weight of newborns between the ages of 0 and 6 months, and this effect was statistically significant (p 0.000). Breastfeeding women are advised to drink a mixture of mung bean water and fennel leaves to help regulate milk production and ensure that the baby's weight gain stays within a healthy range.

Abstract

Complications in pregnancy include the onset of hypertension accompanied by protein in the urine that appears when the pregnancy reaches 20 weeks is called preeclampsia. Appropriate management and early detection is needed in cases of preeclampsia, if treatment is late, the condition will deteriorate very quickly which can lead to eclampsia. Eclampsia eventually causes the condition of the fetus and mother to worsen and increases morbidity and mortality. There are many risk factors for preeclampsia including parity, age of the mother during pregnancy, multiple pregnancies, and previous history. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between multiple pregnancies and cases of preeclampsia. This study used the case control method and the retrospective time approach, taking samples with purposive sampling, and processing data using the Fisher's test with the strength of the relationship using the odds ratio (OR). The results of this study were p value 0.03 <0.05, with an OR value of 1.607 meaning that pregnant women with multiple pregnancies 1.6 times will experience preeclampsia in pregnancy.

Abstract

Education on reproductive health is very important to be given to prospective brides, especially couples who are about to get married. The lack of knowledge of prospective brides about reproductive health and premarital check-ups leads to low participation in premarital check-ups. KUA Kaliwates is a KUA that does not run guidance programs and courses for prospective brides due to limited DIPA funds from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Jember Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of reproductive health education of prospective brides on knowledge and behavior of participation in premarital check-ups. The research conducted was a quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest. Accidental sampling is all prospective brides in the Kaliwates KUA working area in June-July 2022 totaling 49 prospective brides. McNemar test shows the value (p value = 0.008) α < 0.05 means that there is an effectiveness of reproductive health education of prospective brides on knowledge and the value (p value = 0.016) α < 0.05 means that there is an effectiveness of reproductive health education of prospective brides on the participation of premarital check up.

Abstract

Globally, 53% of pregnant women experience unsuitable weight gain with WHO recommendations. This condition is associated with poor perinatal outcomes. Study investigates pregnancy weight gain's impact on outcomes. This study design was observational with a retrospective cohort approach. The sample size was obtained based on the difference formula of two proportions, namely, 142 mothers giving birth. Consecutive sampling technique according to inclusion criteria (mothers giving birth, willing to be respondents, complete medical record status) and exclusion extraction, namely having a history of comorbidities and/or complications The form record is used to collect data. Data analysis with SPSS 25 used the exact Fisher, Mann-Whitney, and chi-square tests. The results showed that 74% of pregnant women experienced weight gain not according to recommendations with 86.5% experienced inadequate weight gain. Appropriateness of weight gain during pregnancy was related to birth weight (p=0.024), birth length (p=0.009), amniotic fluid condition (p=0.000), and Apgar score (p=0.002). Pregnancy outcomes in the form of type of delivery (p=0.426), gestational age (p=0.84), and length of gestation (p=0.0583) were not related. Examination of pre-pregnancy BMI and education about recommendations for weight gain during pregnancy have been important since the first ANC contact.
