LINIMASA merupakan jurnal yang diiniasi oleh Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi FISIP Universitas Pasundan. Terbit dua kali dalam setahun, pada bulan Januari dan bulan Juli. Gagasan jurnal LINIMASA hadir atas fenomena perkembangan ilmu komunikasi yang begitu pesat dan dinamis mengikuti perkembangan jaman. Dilihat dari definisinya, LINIMASA menggambarkan garis waktu atau suatu peristiwa penting dalam subjek tertentu yang ditampilkan dalam urutan kronologis. Jurnal LINIMASA mengakomodir berbagai hasil pemikiran/penelitian komunikasi mulai dari masyarakat bermedia konvensional hingga masyarakat bermedia kontemporer seperti saat ini.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the Communication Style of Women's Leadership conducted by dr. Hj. Cellica Nurrchadiana as the first female regent in Karawang district through the style of delivering messages either publicly or privately to members or the community which is considered quite successful, as evidenced by her re-election by a landslide in winning the 2020 pilkada as regent in the second period. The researcher found that the communication style of women's leadership carried out by Cellica nurrchadiana as the regent of Karawang was that the communication style of the Regent of Cellica was influenced by the situation at hand. The Regent of Cellica will use different communication styles when in Public, Private, Storytelling, Listening, Asking Questions, and Conflict situations that are conveyed to fellow officials, members or the public which are considered appropriate in accordance with the proportion of messages and interesting delivery methods so that they can well received by the communicant.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Islamic boarding schools are currently an alternative choice in continuing education. Since the entry of the pesantren system into Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia have continued to develop. Thus giving rise to the paradigm of santri graduates having their own values, which depend on the advantages or characteristics of the pesantren education. One of them is Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Ponorogo, East Java, which is famous for the excellence of its students by communicating in Arabic. The cottage, which is known as Gontor, was founded in 1926, and has a different system from other Islamic boarding schools. Arabic and English are tools for social interaction in everyday life. The students who have just entered Gontor are no exception. For this reason, from this research, it is possible to understand self-concept, the meaning of symbolic objects, the meaning of symbolic actions, and shared meaning among the residents of the cottage, which are conveyed through visual communication.

Abstract

ABSTRACT At the end of 2021, Layangan Putus web series based on the true story of a woman, went viral and was liked by many people. This series also received many awards. Layangan Putus tells the story of a harmonious household life that starts to fall apart with the emergence of a third person, the relationship eventually becomes a toxic relationship. The meaning contained in this series is in sync with the social reality of society nowadays, that makes many people like it. This study aims to determine the representation of toxic relationships in Layangan Putus web series by using descriptive qualitative methods based on Roland Barthes' semiotic theory by examining denotation, connotation and myth. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of denotation in Layangan Putus series is shown through gestures such as diverting eye contact, uncontrolled speech tone, stammering, swearing, yelling, to verbal expressions of love. The meaning of connotation in this study provides an understanding of human behavior that is classified as a toxic relationship, such as lying, verbally and physically violence, to infidelity. The myth in this study shows that a married couple's relationship that was initially fine does not always end happily.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The urban village grew as a residence for pariahs in various parts of Indonesia. Urbanization which attracts rural people to become new residents of the city, has made them a marginal group. Although they have a role in the business and economic processes of the city, these pariahs are hardly taken into account in the process of urban development. Until, when the city became increasingly crowded, the dwelling of the pariahs was considered a scourge for the new face of the city. The pariahs were also relocated to a space appropriate to the parvenue culture. Cultural conflicts in public spaces occur due to differences in habits and perceptions of the new space. Social interaction is hindered while face-to-face communication cannot be replaced by new media, thus weakening the pariahs and causing disharmony in urban society.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic is a disease outbreak that spreads very widely throughout the world, including Indonesia on March 2020. The pandemic has an impact on all areas of life, one of which is the education sector. The government has taken a policy to study from home, as an effort to reduce the impact of the spread and sufferers of Covid-19. Parents have an important role as long as students study at home. The teaching and learning process, which was previously face-to-face, has been changed to online. This online learning and teaching process has been running for more than a year, making many students feel bored, less productive and passive in terms of motivation to reach achievement. But this doesn’t apply to students at MAN Insan Cendekia Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra Province, even though in the midst of the pandemic they still have a myriad of achievements. Family communication by parents to increase their children's motivation is one of the influential factors. This study aims to determine the magnitude of the influence of family communication on student achievement motivation in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Indonesia is multicultural, which means that it does not only recognize the plurality of certain ethnic groups or cultures, but also emphasizes equality between these cultures. The existence of ethnicity should be considered as the nation's essential wealth that can be used to form social relations, to enrich the nation's cultural assets. In this case, multiculturalism accommodates two (2) things that are contradicted, namely 'Difference' and 'Equality'. Thus, despite the high level of heterogeneity, "vertical and horizontal conflicts", can be reduced because each culture is given the freedom to show its identity and carry out life more autonomously while getting equal recognition of the existence and uniqueness of each. This is the reason why this research was conducted at State Institutions such as DPD – RI.The purpose and objective of this research is to explore opinions and get a general idea of ​​how the strategy of DPD – RI Members to construct their self - concept based on their region of origin in the context of intercultural communication.This study uses a qualitative method with a constructivist paradigm that focuses on Alfred Schutz's tradition of social phenomenology, which is associated with the concept of symbolic interaction.The results showed that there were three (3) self - concept models of the informants, namely: the conservative model; adaptive; interactive, based on three (3) classification, namely: motive – adaptation – interaction.The conclusion obtained is that the scope of the informant's self-concept is not limited to social and political communication, but is closely related to intercultural communication. The slogan “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” has become a symbol of intercultural communication for DPD – RI members as the end result of how they interpret their self - concept.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the online media framing Kumparan and Tirto.id in reporting acts of terror at the National Police Headquarters. This study used qualitative research methods. Collecting data in this study using documentation techniques and literature study. The analysis technique uses Robert N. Entman's model framing analysis technique. The results of this research show that there are similarities between Kumparan and Tirto.id by defining terror acts at the National Police Headquarters as a form of terrorism attack. However, Kumparan emphasizes the human interest side of the perpetrators of the Police Headquarters attack by writing his name clearly and writing down the contents of the will left by the perpetrator. In addition, Kumparan also highlighted the actions of the police in this case, such as guarding and checking at the National Police Headquarters and shooting dead the perpetrators. Meanwhile, Tirto.id emphasizes the chronology of the terrorist acts at the Police Headquarters and also highlights the issue of terrorism itself by explaining the lone wolf and millennial terrorist phenomena. Kumparan and Tirto.id are trying to be as objective as possible in reporting the terror act at the National Police Headquarters.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The phenomenon of gender fluid and androgynous fashion style indeed exists and is rife in society. Until now this phenomenon is still receiving a lot of different perceptions and reactions from the community. The purpose of this research is to find out Generation Z's understanding of the gender fluid phenomenon through the concept of androgynous fashion style on Instagram communication media and Generation Z's reactions and perceptions of this phenomenon. Data collection is done by documentation, observation, interviews, and focus group discussions. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods. The results of the study show that many definitions given by Generation Z are still unclear but their understanding has begun to appear. Generation Z has different perceptions and reactions to this phenomenon. There are perceptions and reactions that are neutral,negative and positive. Even so, Generation Z has sufficiently accepted the phenomenon of gender through the concept of androgynous fashion style. Abstract

The development of technology and information nowadays is very fast, especially in communication. The use of social media is increasingly mushrooming not only to interact and communicate but also to use social media as a manifestation of other personalities, one of which is what Korean pop (Kpop) fans do. They create a small community with fellow Korean pop idol group (Kpop) fans then use another name or the alter ego of each idol character he idolizes where they can mingle, communicate and even wage war between fans without knowing each other's real personal data because utilize new media to interact with each other. The purpose of this study is to conduct content analysis in what happens to the use of ego- counter accounts via the Twitter social media platform. In addition, the research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, namely the analysis is carried out by interpreting messages or tweets on the Twitter platform by the alter ego account.

Abstract

Jurgen Habermas is one of social science scholars in Frankfurt school. He has main focus to manifest deliberative democracy in which public participation is regarded as the rights of communication. Moreover, it is supposed to value justice, eleminate destructive domination, and manifest consencus. The research method employs descriptive analysis and It employs Habermas communication theory consisted of 1) basic communication, 2) political communication, 3) press system, and 4) communication competence. The result shows that the theory holds the principal of human rights, the technique of discussion and the implementation of social network either cultural or structural. The conclusion of this research is Habermas avoids communication exploiting human and proposing a certain kind of communication. Therefore, those orientations produce equality, high value of human rights, and transformative communication.
