Abstract

Some companies in Indonesia established university as their business units. Apart from educating the young generation, these company-owned universities were also meant to attract talent into the company. Hence, senior employees were often tasked to share the classified practices of the company. However, this strategy could backfire if graduates joined the competitors instead. This research set out to uncover whether company owned university is a good strategy for attracting prospective talents. The construct used in this study is organizational attraction; the positive attitude of an individual to an organization. Quantitative method were used to collect the data. 474 students (178 males, 296 females) participated in this research and were divided into two groups; those who study in company owned university and those who do not. Independent-sample t-test was used to compare the organization attraction of the two groups. Result showed significant difference between company owned university students (M= 54.07. SD= 7.937) and private university (M= 51.69. SD= 7.716); t(472)= 3.309; p= 0.001. This result indicates that the students who study at company owned university were more attracted to work at holding company rather than student who studying at private university.

Abstract

One individual who has a complex role in his life is a mother, both housewives and working mothers. Up to a certain point, a mother whose main role is as a housekeeper can switch or increase the role of being a working mother. Housewives and working mothers are expected to be able to carry out each role maximally that can provide benefits for themselves and others. This then leads to psychological well-being, which is something everyone wants to have, including women who have roles as housewives or working mothers in Malang. This study aims to determine the differences in psychological well-being of working mothers and housewives. The subjects used in this study were mothers who had the latest junior high school education. All subjects live in the city of Malang and total 60 people. The result of the difference test is Z=0.296 and a significance of 0.767 (p>0.05). This indicates that there is no significant difference in the level of the psychological well-being variable between working and non-working mothers.

Abstract

Reading comprehension is important in the process of studying. Nowadays, low-fidelity (lo-fi) music is claimed to help people study. Lo-fi music is a music aesthetic characterised by the imperfection in recording. Previous research proved that various music can either increase or decrease our reading comprehension ability. No research has been done on the effects of lo-fi music towards reading comprehension. Thus, we conduct an online experimental study on the effects of lo-fi music on the reading comprehension in university students. 100 Jabodetabek students were equally divided into control and experimental groups by randomization. Reading comprehension was tested using a reading subtest from a Cambridge Ordinary Level (O-level) test translated into the Indonesian language. The experimental group did the test while listening to lo-fi music. The control group did the test without listening to any music. The Mann-Whitney U-test concluded that the results failed to reject the null hypothesis [(U=3545, n1=50, n2=50, p>0,05), ΣR1=230, ΣR2=223]. In conclusion, there is no effect of listening to lo-fi music towards reading comprehension in Indonesian Jabodetabek university students. Whilst studying, students may choose to listen to lo-fi music or not.

The criterion of participants are caregivers having children aged 3-4 years old, and lives in Jabodetabek. Measurements in this study used the non-parametric statistical test Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test. The pre-test results showed (M = 1.50; SD = 1.00) and post-test (M = 10.50; SD = 10.00) with a significant score, namely Z = -2,000, and the P-value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.046, This score is less than critical research limit value of 0.05. It means that there is a significant increase in the caregiver’s interactions in brushing their teeth after being given the intervention using the Mediated Learning Experience (MLE) program.

Abstract

Pancasila is the source of all sources of law in Indonesia, therefore all legal arrangements must originate from Pancasila. However, in reality there were hundreds of laws that were canceled because they were not in accordance with Pancasila. The purpose of this research is to examine the description of the perceptions and attitudes of the academic community towards the conformity of laws and regulations with Pancasila. Respondents in this study are the academic community. The method used in this research is correlation analysis. The measurement used in this study was made by the research team based on Sarwono's theory of perception (2009) and Oskamp & Schultz's theory of attitudes (2005). This study found that there is a significant positive relationship between perception and attitude of the academic community towards the conformity of the Indonesian law with Pancasila. It can be concluded that the academic community in general understands that there is a mismatch between the Inodnesian Law and Pancasila.
