Abstract

Vocational high school curriculum can provide various solutions to problems in the business and industrial worlds that require a variety of disciplines. The complex problem-solving in the real world has increased the multidisciplinary boundaries of science, technology, engineering, agriculture, mathematics, and health (STEAM-H). Therefore, this study investigated teachers’ understanding of the coherence and integration of the vocational high school curriculum in the crop agribusiness program in STEAM-H. The sample population consisted of science, mathematics, and productive teachers from a crop agribusiness vocational high school in Ciamis, Indonesia. The results showed that participants’ understanding of curriculum coherence began with the knowledge of the existence of conceptual connections between subjects, essential concepts, explicit or implicit, and concepts outside or within the curriculum. Furthermore, the productive teachers were more aware of implicit subject connections in this study. Teachers often had different points of view on the essential concepts listed in the curriculum. The results also showed that agriculture is a conceptual integrator for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or health for integrated STEAM-H learning, as well as a contextual integrator for subject-centered education. The teachers argued that the multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary patterns were suitable for implementation with strategies agreed upon across all subjects. Therefore, the understanding of teachers is expected to change integrated learning in crop agribusiness schools to an independent curriculum.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to investigate the potential effects that Artificial intelligence (AI) could have on education. The narrative and framework for investigating AI that emerged from the preliminary research served as the basis for the study’s emphasis, which was narrowed down to the use of AI and its effects on administration, instruction, and student learning. According to the findings, artificial intelligence has seen widespread adoption and use in education, particularly by educational institutions and in various contexts and applications. The development of AI began with computers and technologies related to computers; it then progressed to web-based and online intelligent education systems; and finally, it applied embedded computer systems in conjunction with other technologies, humanoid robots, and web-based chatbots to execute instructor tasks and functions either independently or in partnership with instructors. By utilizing these platforms, educators have been able to accomplish a variety of administrative tasks. In addition, because the systems rely on machine learning and flexibility, the curriculum and content have been modified to match the needs of students. This has led to improved learning outcomes in the form of higher uptake and retention rates.

Abstract

A sustainable ecosystem of universities needs to show outstanding performance in the areas of employability, institutional social responsibility, and creative and performing arts. Thus, this study determined the influential role of emotional quotient (EQ) and spiritual quotient (SQ) on the lecturers’ excellence service quality (ESQ), which eventually led to effective classroom teaching. The data of 127 respondents were analyzed using the structural equation model with partial least square. The results confirmed that both types of quotients positively influence the lecturers’ teaching progression at the university. EQ and SQ have the encouraging power to motivate the academicians for the best service to the university through a quality learning experience. It can be concise that institutions that practice EQ and SQ values can perform better and blend a harmonious working spirit and tandem with the university’s growth. Support for sustainable development goal (SDG-4) via EQ and SQ is now required in humanizing education to ensure academicians’ competency and well-being, particularly in the aftermath of the Corona Virus Disease-19 disruption. Policymakers in the university should now capitalize the intelligence through professional initiatives. This study could have been better with a bigger sample size, but the investigation had limited access due to the university's policy on privacy.

Abstract

The rapid transformation of education requires performance and innovation. This study aimed to examine the interconnectedness between organizational commitment (OC), job satisfaction (JS), and employee performance (EP) in higher education in Indonesia. EP is measured by how well you handle critical emergencies, how well you solve creative problems, how well you manage work stress, how well you handle uncertain and unpredictable work situations, and how well you adapt to other people. OC is measured by the strong desire to be an employee, the desire to work hard, acceptance of organizational values, acceptance of organizational goals, and work loyalty. JS is measured by the work itself, wages, promotion opportunities, supervision, and colleagues. The population in this study were all 150 employees of the Archive Bureau in Educational Colleges in Indonesia. In this study, researchers used the saturated sampling method as the basis for sampling, where all 150 members of the population were used as samples. A deeper comprehension of the connections between the variables was achieved by quantitatively applying structural equation modeling based on AMOS 21. The findings indicate that organizational commitment and job satisfaction positively influence employee performance in higher education in Indonesia. Indeed, job satisfaction among employees can enhance their performance. This study helps organizations perform better during COVID-19, particularly in higher education. The researcher suggests that additional researchers conduct larger-scale research on improving performance in areas like innovation and productive behavior.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate one of the search’s core issues, ‘employability skills’, and their relationship. It also attempted to recognize the valuable contributions of writers, journals, governments, and institutions worldwide in pursuing employability skills. The quantitative study of bibliographic content is known as bibliometric analysis. Furthermore, it provides a broad view of a study subject that may be subdivided into publications, authors, and journals. This study offers a bibliometric summary of recent research on employability skills. Data was taken from the Scopus database between 2003 and 2022 and examined using VOSviewer software, open refine, tableau public, and Microsoft Excel. The data from the Scopus database are 1,070 documents. Researchers observed that researchers mainly focus on employability skills, higher education, engineering education, curricula, employment, and vocational education. Education and Training journal is the most appropriate journal for contributions, followed by Higher Education, Skills, and Work-based Learning journal, and then the Higher Education Research and Development journal. This study informs researchers by providing insights into basic background knowledge about employability skills for visual and quantitative research. Therefore, this method can observe the research gap in employability skills and more in-depth academic discussions. The study demonstrates how employability skills research has arisen and progressed, as well as prospective future research agendas.
