Abstract

The low cultural understanding is caused by the decline in reading interest of the Indonesian people. This type of research is a pseudo-experiment and the research design used is an unequal post-test control group design. The population is all 151 students in grade V of SD Group VI Abiansemal for the 2024/2025 school year. The sample determination technique uses cluster random sampling so that the samples obtained in this study are class V SD No. 1 Mambal as many as 22 students as an experimental group and class V SD No. 4 Mekar Bhuana as many as 11 students as a control group. Data collection uses the usual multiple-choice test and is analyzed by the Polled Variance t-test. The results of the hypothesis test show that the tcount result = 4.411 > ttable = 2.04 with a significance level of 5% and dk = 31. Based on the results of the analysis, there was a significant difference in the cultural literacy competence of the group of students who were taught with  the outdoor learning model  based on traditional Balinese games and the group of students who were taught with the conventional model. It can be concluded that  the  outdoor learning model  based on traditional Balinese games has an effect on improving the cultural literacy competence of grade V students of SD Cluster VI Abiansemal for the 2024/2025 school year. This model can be used by teachers in social studies teaching activities to help students develop cultural literacy competencies.

Abstract

The limited use of innovative learning media in science and social studies (IPAS) instruction often causes students to experience boredom and reduced engagement during the learning process. This condition negatively affects students’ conceptual understanding, particularly in learning topics related to diversity and cultural preservation that require contextual and meaningful learning approaches. This study aims to analyze the design, evaluate the quality, and examine the effectiveness of an Inquiry Learning based instructional video as a learning medium for fourth-grade IPAS learning. This research employed a development research design using the ADDIE model. The study involved 37 fourth-grade students as research subjects. Data were collected through questionnaires and achievement tests using expert validation sheets and learning outcome assessment instruments. The data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques and correlated t-test analysis. The findings indicate that the developed instructional video demonstrates very high quality based on expert validation and user trials, and conceptually proves effective in improving students’ conceptual understanding, learning engagement, and their ability to connect learning materials with real-life contexts. These results imply that Inquiry Learning based instructional videos function as innovative learning media that support interactive, contextual, and student-centered IPAS instruction, thereby contributing to the sustainable improvement of learning processes and outcomes in elementary education.

Abstract

Students' knowledge and interest in local culture are still low due to the increasingly rapid flow of globalization. Students also feel uncomfortable and have difficulty adapting to social norms that apply in schools because of differences in values, habits, and ways of communicating. This study aims to investigate the effect of the Problem Based Learning learning model with the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach on cultural literacy and social interaction of fourth grade elementary school students. The type of research is quasi-experimental with a Nonequivalent Pre-Test Post Test Control Group Design. The population in the study were all fourth grade students of Elementary School Gugus VII, Tabanan District. The research sample was taken using a random sampling technique with a randomized class as an intact group with 21 people as the experimental group and 19 people as the control group. The data collection method uses a non-test method with a questionnaire instrument. The analysis method uses descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (t-test and Manova test). Based on the results of the t-test, the significant value of cultural literacy and social interaction is 0.000 <0.05. Then from the results of the Manova test, the significance value is 0.000 <0.05 so that it can be concluded simultaneously that there is a significant influence of the PBL learning model with the CRT approach on cultural literacy and social interaction of fourth grade elementary school students. The implications of this study are that it can improve cultural literacy and social interaction of students, and can be a reference for teachers and schools in designing more relevant and meaningful learning for students.

Abstract

The low level of scientific literacy in Indonesia in the context of international comparisons remains a concern. One possible cause of this decline can be observed in the curriculum and educational aspects, which need further evaluation to improve the quality of science learning in the country. This study aims to explore the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model integrated with Balinese local wisdom on scientific literacy and learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. This research employed a quasi-experimental design using a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of all fifth-grade elementary school students, with samples selected through intact group random sampling. The sample was divided into two groups: an experimental group (TPS integrated with Balinese local wisdom) and a control group (conventional method). Data were collected through achievement tests and a scientific literacy questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed a significant difference between the two groups in terms of scientific literacy and learning outcomes, with an F value of 232.004 and a significance level of 0.000 (<0.05). These findings confirm that TPS integrated with Balinese local wisdom positively influences students’ scientific literacy and learning outcomes by promoting active participation, better conceptual understanding, and higher motivation in learning. The integration of Balinese local wisdom also helps students connect knowledge with cultural values, thereby enhancing their understanding of the learning material.
