Abstract

Science education in elementary schools is still partial and dominated by the use of textbooks, with teachers as the center of learning activities. The absence of teaching materials that support active student participation causes the learning process to be less meaningful. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) module for science education for fourth grade elementary school students. This study uses a research and development method with the ADDIE model. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, while data analysis used a descriptive qualitative and quantitative approach. The validation results showed that the module was rated very good by subject matter experts (95%), learning design experts (95.45%), and media experts (98.3%). The teacher response test scored very good (100%), the individual trial (97.8%), and the small group trial (94.98%). These findings indicate that the module is highly valid and practical for use in learning. The uniqueness of this module lies in the integration of science and social studies material arranged contextually, for example, by linking the topic of Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms with the practice of planting crops by the ancient Javanese people. This study implies that the development of holistic and problem-based teaching materials can improve conceptual understanding and student engagement in IPAS learning.

Abstract

Mathematics learning on the subject of flat shapes has been ineffective because it still predominantly uses the lecture method with textbooks, so that student motivation and understanding are not optimal. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ethnomathematics-based flipbook media in improving students' understanding of two-dimensional shapes in first-grade elementary school. This is a development study using the ADDIE model. The research subjects include subject matter experts, design experts, educational media experts, and 28 first-grade students as the experimental sample. Data were collected through questionnaires and comprehension tests, then analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques and inferential statistical analysis. The media design received a score of 90.90%, while evaluations by experts and users indicated very good qualifications in terms of content, instructional design, and media. Individual and small group trials yielded positive responses and very good qualifications. Effectiveness analysis using statistical tests showed significant differences between learning outcomes before and after using the media. These findings indicate that ethnomathematics-based flipbook media are effective in improving students' understanding of flat shapes. Abstract

The vast diversity that exists in Indonesia, aside from being a valuable national asset, can also become a trigger for conflict. Many conflicts and disputes arise due to differences in background, such as ethnicity, race, religion, and others. This study aims to explore the extent to which Pancasila Education can contribute to multicultural life in schools and to analyze how far it can shape and instill multicultural values that embrace diversity within the school environment. The findings of this study were obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation involving research subjects including Pancasila Education teachers, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, and students. The collected data were then analyzed. The results indicate that Pancasila Education plays a significant role in the multicultural lives of students at school. Students believe that Pancasila Education provides them with a deeper understanding of multicultural values such as tolerance, democracy, justice, and equality. Pancasila Education is vital in fostering multiculturalism among high school students because it is fundamentally a subject that emphasizes character, values, and morals. It not only teaches theoretical concepts but also stresses the importance of applying those concepts in daily life. This research is beneficial for various stakeholders to understand and strengthen multiculturalism, especially in schools, by promoting attitudes such as tolerance, democracy, justice, and equality, which are essential for building and maintaining harmony and unity within the school community.

Abstract

Instilling good character values needs to be done from an early age as a foundation for children's personality development. However, the implementation of character education at the kindergarten level is currently not running optimally. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of intracurricular learning on children's religious and discipline values within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum in kindergarten. This study employs an experimental research method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consists of all kindergarten children, totaling 43 students. The research sample includes 21 students from class B2 and 22 students from class B3. The sample was selected using random sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation. The instruments for assessing religious and discipline values were observation sheets that had been validated by experts and tested for reliability. The collected data were analyzed in two stages: inferential statistics and prerequisite analysis using a t-test. The results showed that the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.411, which is greater than 0.05 (0.411 > 0.05). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that intracurricular learning has an effect on children's religious and discipline values in kindergarten. The implication of this research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in conducting intracurricular learning.

Abstract

Customary traditions represent a cultural identity inherited across generations, playing a crucial role in preserving social harmony within communities. However, the rapid flow of globalization and modernization has driven a shift in the meaning of customs, threatening their philosophical values and existence. This study aims to analyze the historical dynamics, forms of meaning shifts, and implications of the baoguong (music prohibition) tradition on community behavior patterns. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach, the research involved 13 purposively selected informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and field notes, using an instrument framework based on William F. Ogburn's (1992) theory of social change. Data were analyzed using Spradley’s ethnographic analysis technique. The findings reveal that the baoguong prohibition originated from a religious teaching by Haji Ahmad in 1901, initially carrying an associative-religious meaning which later shifted to a lexical interpretation during the era of Muhammad Yatim (1965). This shift impacted the younger generation, who continued musical activities through modern media such as tape recorders and smartphones. The transformation of the material elements of the tradition has caused changes in its immaterial elements, notably in its religious and social meanings. This study recommends revitalizing traditional values through adaptive educational strategies that align with the contemporary socio-cultural context.

Abstract

Children with autism often experience difficulties in managing emotions, communication, and behavior, which can significantly impact their quality of life and social environment. The lack of culturally-based approaches in handling autism has become a barrier to creating interventions that align with local values and the children's cultural identity. This study aims to explore the application of local wisdom in the management of children with autism through structured and repetitive cultural activities. This research employed a qualitative method with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of 7 children with autism selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through participatory observation, structured interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that traditional cultural activities, such as making porosan, canang sari, and participating in religious rituals, have a positive impact on the development of fine motor skills, emotional regulation, and focus among children. Activities involving hand-eye coordination and repetitive processes foster mindfulness aspects that contribute to the children's calmness and self-regulation. Conceptually, this study implies the importance of integrating local wisdom values into culturally-based autism intervention programs to improve children's emotional well-being and motor skill development.

Abstract

Intolerance and bullying are still pressing problems in the education system in Indonesia, which have an impact on the creation of a harmonious and inclusive learning environment. This problem requires an innovative educational approach to foster an attitude of tolerance and understanding between students. This study aims to explore the effect of multicultural education learning strategies on improving the attitude of tolerance of elementary school students. This study used a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely the experimental group that received multicultural-based learning and the control group that underwent conventional learning methods. The research instrument was a tolerance attitude questionnaire that was analyzed using inferential statistics. The results showed that the group that received the multicultural learning strategy showed a significant increase in tolerance attitudes compared to the control group. These findings indicate that multicultural education can be an effective tool in creating a more inclusive and tolerant learning environment. This study contributes to the development of multicultural education in Indonesia, especially in the context of elementary education, and provides practical recommendations for teachers and schools in implementing learning strategies that support tolerance attitudes. The output of this study is expected to be published in an indexed national journal and provide a reference for the development of multicultural education policies in the future.
