Abstract

Abstract Online learning is one of the alternatives that can overcome the COVID-19 pandemic that is endemic in 2021. This is very troubling to the community, especially disrupting learning in schools. Students who want to learn are constrained by the outbreak of the disease, so solutions are needed to overcome these problems. The purpose of this study was to get an overview of the implementation of online learning at SMA Negeri 4 Medan as an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19 in school. The research subjects are students of the Biology Education Study Program. Data collection is done by interviewing through zoom cloud meeting. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles & Huberman interactive analysis technique. Weak supervision of students, limited signal in remote areas and high internet costs are challenges in online learning. However, many benefits can be obtained from online learning, including increasing learning independence, interest and motivation, and the courage to express ideas and questions. The results showed that: (1) students had the basic facilities needed to participate in online learning; (2) online learning has flexibility in its implementation and can encourage the emergence of self-regulated learning and motivation to be more active in learning, and (3) distance learning encourages the emergence of social distancing behavior and minimizes the emergence of student crowds which are considered to reduce the potential for spreading COVID-19 in the campus environment. Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to analyze which types of code-mixing are often used by students atW.R. Supratman 2 School. In this research, the researchers used methods of recording andanalyzing conversations between students in the school environment, this research used qualitativeresearch methods. This research shows which types of code-mixing are often used by students andwhy students use code-mixing. The results of the data obtained by the researchers state that intrasentential code-mixing is a type often used by students. The reason why students often use code-mixing in daily conversations is that they always use someone's quote in English to motivatelearning English, to express emotions or feelings among friends, they want to look cooler and moreattractive and the last reason is that sometimes they find words that have no representation inother people.Keyword: Code Mixing, Sociolinguistic

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengobservasi dan mengevaluasi video pembelajaran melalui metode PBL dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru di SMP Nanyang Zhi Hui Medan di masa Pandemi Covid-19. Abstract

Penilitian Mendeskripsikan bentuk tindak tutur di rektif yang digunakan anak 4-5 Tahun TAMAN Kanak kanak ( TK Harapan Baru Medan ) untuk mengetahui jenis tindak tutur direksi yang sering di gunakan anak usia 4-5 tahun Di Perguruan TK Harapan Baru 3 Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dengan desain penelitian Kualitatif dimana desaain penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengmpulan data denga menggunakan metode observasi langsung dan wawancara di lapangan. Dengan populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peser ta didik berusia 4-5 Tahun bentuk tindak tutur meminta secara langsung dan tidak langsung. Sedangkan bentuk mengizinkan secara lansung dan tidak langsung dan mengusulkan secara langsung Selain itu faktor - faktor intensitas munculnya ketiga tuturan tersebut lebih sering di bandingkan tindak tutur mengusulkan dan mengigizinkan dalam kehidupan. Abstract

The number of immigrants increases tremendously in Taiwan. These recent immigrants originate from a variety of ethnicities; some are Han Chinese from Mainland China, others are mainly from Southeast Asian countries, with Vietnamese as the largest group, followed by Indonesians, Thai, and then Philippines. They brought with them their native languages and cultures (Chen,2010). Kuo (2008) found no difference in the lexical development of 2-6- year-old children of Vietnamese mothers and Taiwanese mothers, but children of Indonesian mothers were found to be slower (Kuo, 2015). This study aim to evaluate the the vocabulary size in Indonesian, Mandarin, and Taiwanese for children of Indonesian immigrants in Taiwan. The researcher investigated whether Indonesian mothers in Taiwan with limited Mandarin proficiency are able to provide the kind of input to facilitate their children’s Indonesian, Mandarin and Taiwanese acquisition or not.This study used Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test to assess their lexical development in Indonesian and Mandarin. The Taiwanese language measure tool is an application developed by Kuo (2017). This study revealed that the vocabulary score of Indonesian score were found to be lower than Mandarin and Taiwanese score and Mandarin score higher than Taiwanese score. The factors related to children’s lexical development were also investigated no correlation between Indonesian mother’s with their children in Indonesian language, because most of them communicate with their limited Mandarin or Taiwanese. Finally, this research should help people to have a better understanding about the phenomenon of multilingual family, where multilingual has become common in the society. Abstract

This research presents a research report on students’achievement in writing narrative text by using clustering technique between two groups: experimental and control group. The design of this study is experimental group. The population of this study is eleven grade students of SMK Sandhy Putra 2 Medan in the academic year 2017/2018. The samples of this research were the students of Class X-TKJ1and TKJ2 consisting 31 students as the experimental group, and Class X-TB1 and X-TB2 consisting 31 students as the control group. The data of the test were analyzed by using t-test formula to know the difference of the students’ achievement in writing narrative text. In the pre-test the mean of score of the experimental group 62,93 and the mean of post test of 79,54 and the control group is 61,23 and the post-test 51,06 the results of the t-test 6,10>2,000 Key Words : Clustering technique, Narrative text

Abstract

English is an important role in education or technology since it functions as one of the international languages. The aim is to describe a type of grammatical error and find out the causes of errors in translating vocative text based on the idiomatic translation. The research was conducted at SMP Swasta Al-Maksum. The research design used descriptive quantitative. The population of this research was students consist of 41 students. The technique sampling was purposive sampling, sample is 41 students. The test was teacher-made. The data were acquired by administrating an objective test was a text which consisted of 10 items to test their knowledge in translating the text based on idiomatic translation, each correct translation has scores one and the incorrect translation was scored zero. The findings showed that 71% of samples were able and 29% of samples were unable in translating the text based on idiomatic translation. It means that students were able to translate the text-based on idiomatic translation.

Abstract

Abstract The low level of reading comprehension and interest affects their learning motivation at school. Many students are not interested in reading, because they think it is boring. To overcome these problems, this research aims: first, to develop Batak folklore. Second, to determine the effect of Batak folklore on reading comprehension and student motivation. This study takes 3 Batak folklore including 1) The Legend of Pohon Aren, 2) The Legend of Aek Situmandi, 4) The Legend of Air Soda. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive obtained in writing to describe the moral values and character formation contained in the 3 Batak folk tales. The data of this research were taken from students of SMK Telkom Medan. Data collection is done by reading the story text over and over again. From the research, it can be concluded that Batak folklore can increase students' interest in reading and can be a motivation for every student. Abstract

Abstract A speaking talent is the ability to say or recite an idea that a person has, and it includes features of pronunciation, vocabulary, and syntax. The objective of speaking is to express a thought or sensation that has arisen in the individual as a result of listening to music or learningcontent. The storytelling technique is one way to help pupils enhance their speaking abilities. Storytelling is a fascinating practice that encourages children to use their imaginations.Storytelling can assist them improve their language abilities while also deepening and broadening their comprehension of the story's characters. A qualitative research design is used in this study. The goal of this study is to help researchers and readers understand what media and approaches teachers use in the classroom to help students, particularly junior high school students, enhance their vocabulary. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the character values of students, examine whether the good characters in the Laskar Pelangi film can be applied in teaching and learning life, and apply moral values that can be used with qualitative descriptive methods. And reading which was used in collecting data, it was found that Laskar Pelangi is a film that teaches very good norms and moral values that can be expected for educational activities, especially teaching and learning. We hope that this research can make readers more motivated and make this research one of the teaching resources that can be applied in student character education.
